Great video! Also, 5:28, it's just that bloons doesn't work how you think it does. Bloons isn't laggy because it eats your PC, like most other laggy games, it's because of how horrible the game's code (which also applies to BTD6) is. As you may know (or not), most modern CPUs utilize multiple cores to distribute the tasks and speed up the process instead of having 1 super powerful core. Bloons for some reason, can only run in 1 core, so essentially, Bloons has only 1/8-1/10th of your computer to run, while the rest is not being used. That way, Bloons runs at .0001fps while your computer is like nothing. It is also not efficient at using that core, which makes it even worse. So not even a NASA supercomputer can run at a great speed. Edit: I made a mistake, it's not cores, it's threads, which are very similar, but there are more threads than cores. Not sure what they are exactly, but there are usually x1.5-2 times as many threads as cores. So in a good gaming laptop Bloons can only use 1/24th of the computing power.
That is actually insane I guess there aren't any mods that can change that or anything either? I always assumed the game had something inefficient in terms of running a bunch of checks per second or something else but I'm far from being smart with that stuff lol
@@Phenomix Yeah, the inefficiency I passed over comes exactly from that The game checks every frame for if a tower has any Bloon in range And if a projectile is hitting a Bloon So every tower and projectile is demanding of multiple calculations, per frame. Now you're restricted to only one thread, and it is a disaster. And sadly no, there aren't any mods. I don't know of this, but I think the entire code depends on this, and you would need a complete rewrite to fix it, but I can say for certain. Edit: I suggest you watch the video of MackanRules that talks about this, it is very good and goes pretty in depth, but it stays easy to understand 👍
i feel like pointing this out is kinda stupid but nasa supercomputers arent really that good, they probably have the same strengh as the average computer.
@@Avice. Yeah, a NASA supercomputer is basically millions of average computers put together. Supercomputers are not about the power of the cores, but by amount. I think the best one in the world has like 10 million.
I hate seeing dev slander over single threading their games, if you made a game with single threading in mind it is unbelievably hard to reprogram that game to be multithreaded without basically programming the game from scratch again. For BTD games I believe adding multithreading would break so many things since you can't just split up the threads of what causes the most lag, sure you could do rendering, and whatever other functions on another thread, but the heaviest load is still going to come from hit detection, which cannot be run on seperate threads as easily as people imagine without introducing a stupid amount of bugs. The architecture would need to be completely overhauled which may be something the could do with a new game, but not in its current state. I see a lot of people screaming "multithreading" without even knowing what it cam and can't do. TL:DR: Multithreading will 1. Not improve the game as much as people think unless you 2. Overcomplicate the way code is run and introduce way too many bugs to be worth it

I definitely try to at least read every comment, even if I don't always have a good reply to respond with. I appreciate you noticing that! Playing on the Switch definitely doesn't sound ideal though, I think that BTD5 and 6 are coded inefficiently (according to another comment I got) so they don't even run optimally on high end computers let alone a console version.
@@Phenomix when you start off with low end products, you don't know how bad they are. At least when I did play I had fun, not knowing the difference. And yes it lags after 150.
I looked into BTD5 high rounds a bit more, and the highest round reached without abilities is 1081 by Gakm4, posted on a steam thread. On express shipping, it’s actually possible to fit a lot more temples than what you currently placed (the most I could fit is 17), so higher rounds without abilities are possible. That's so funny to think about lol I've seen the old leaderboards on the Flash Archive and it's a similar story. I'm surprised the game didn't stop them at the 32 bit integer limit or something though
Ray of Doom "only" does one damage every frame, and freeplay's MOAB speed and hp increase eventually make it so that the ZOMGs get to the exit in less frames than they have hp (for example, if they'd get to the exit in 4000 frames, they would only need 4001 hp to make it to the end). Some form of MOAB stun becomes an absolute requirement past round 200, no matter what map or difficulty you're playing on; its why the bloonchipper with the workshop is the best tower, after the temple.
Hi! I love ur videos! I am looking to start recording videos on a older computer. Is there a way that I can optimise obs to get better footage or get better recordings in another way?
Answer: pretty far. I was NOT expecting round 1 thousand. Free play rounds seem a lot easier in btd5 than in btd6 because there are no bads or ddts, i definitely think you could’ve gone past round 1700 given enough time. Thats just too long tho lol
Wait in late rounds very later do the bloons increase hp cuz I feel like in late game bloonchippers struggle. Cuz it says they only spawn infinite till lag
It was just because I ended up changing my experiment to see how far I could go without abilities once I realized how much further other people have gone by using better strategies than me
