It's difficult for people these days to find contentment. Being content has become a treat we rarely experience. My mother in law was the poster person for contentment. She had her house, which she built, her cigarettes, her lemonade, coffee and television. That 's all she needed as far as the material world is concerned. She was the opposite side of the spectrum.

Rich's background as a WFPB vegan makes him an expert in understanding the dark side of marketing. He knows that Big Food (meat, dairy and processed plants) only cares about the bottom line financial result. He knew exactly where Mark was going with his book and writing. That made this interview fascinating. Mark would do well to understand more about Roll's history and modify his own diet to avoid health issues in the future.
Nothing special about vegan. The secret is not eating crap foods. Vegan to carnivore and everything in between can be healthy. Stay away from junk food snacks, sugar drinks, cigarettes, alcohol, stay active and socialize with good people.
@@davidplyler8173 I agree. Vegans can eat plenty of junk food and be unhealthy. Rich is a whole food plant-based advocate who happens to be vegan. Modest amounts of meat/ fish in a diet are not necessarily unhealthy.

I'm binge watching all of Mark's interviews on RUclips at the moment, obviously they're all great because Mark is so engaging but this is the best yet!
The letdown after achievement is related to dopamine and how it mediates motivation. Achieving a big goal = you stop striving for that goal. Andrew Huberman at Stanford did an in depth podcast about this topic. All achievements come with a letdown. The bigger the achievement, the bigger the letdown. The key according to Huberman is to realize that the process of pursuing a goal IS the reward. It's where motivation meets effort. All animals are designed to strive for survival and reproduction. Stop striving, and you literally die. Dissatisfaction is the key to survival in that sense.
I often thought of picking up his book. Now i will. You've done it again Rich...your guests are always interesting and i've gotten my eyes opened to so many new individuals. This thing you do is the thing you guys were talking about in the interview...keeping mental and spiritual tasks at hand. Videos like yours are what I look forward to the way i used to look forward to Must See TV on Thursdays back in the 90s for Friends, Seinfeld, and ER haha. Keep on keepin on man !

Would have liked to see Manson take credit for selling 8 million copies, since that's how the chapter came across to me.
Will Smith probably doesn't like social media any more. People used to look up to him as someone with emotional intelligence only to find out his ego is so fragile that he can't take a well meaning joke. It's crazy to think how many people he disillusioned.
Will is not alone in that way. A lot of Hollywood celebrities have been “outed,” so to speak by their participation in social media. Many people used to be more enamored with celebrities when they only saw them on movies and tv, but now they’ve witnessed how many famous people are shallow individuals with fragile egos who exhibit pathetic behavior.

Interesting, PT. I didn't see that at all. Unlike Tom Bilyeu, whom I totally love, by the way. Rich always makes his guests feel totally relaxed, and comfortable enough to reveal their innermost thoughts whilst challenging them enough to push them gently out of their comfort zone, without compromising their dignity. Many guests have realisations as they speak, which is great. I think he was very open.

I don't know the author and haven't read the book. Maybe everyone else knows the amazing story of this guys life, but I am ignorant of his story. Now I am 20 minutes in and this guy just seems lucky. I am happy for him, but I am not getting any value. Where are the obstacles and what he did to overcome them? How about a new perspective? Maybe this is a slow build, but after a 1/2 hour I need more than "Will Smith is cool."
This was a superficially conversational interview. But I found it worth taking some notes and sound bites. I recommend listening to content on a faster playback speed so to reduce the impact these videos have on your time. Thus increasing their value. This whole 1.5 hour video took me 45 minutes to listen to.
If you’ve read his books, you would know how he got where he is right now. Luck may have been a part of his success, but definitely wasn’t the most important factor

Just read The Molecule of More about dopamine. Essentially dopamine=hope. A great book would be a book that correlates the neurochemicals and the language of feelings/emotions to explain the chemicals changes occurring within us.

I understand "inviting the challenges" as a good thing... but if you have the money as a safety net, doesn't that make the "challenge" artificial? Staying in a dump hotel "like you use to do" becomes just an exercise in endurance for a day, a week, etc. because you KNOW you have an "out"
Not totally agree with him, when you work in company, you are not always paid at the amount you would deserve. Why because today for example in France the most you work the less you are paid. The less you give to the company the better you are seen. It's crazy but it's true unfortunately. I think in the future the most company will be internationalize and the most they will control the wage of people. You know why because when you are in a position of monopoly, you can impose anything to your employees.
