Back in early 2018 we were fortunate enough to produce a documentary video on the General James Taylor Mansion in Newport, Kentucky. As far as I know this is the only video showing the inside of the home that is available to the general public. The original log home was built at this location in 1797. In 1813 the beautiful Belle Vue Mansion was constructed. In 1837 the mansion was burnt to the ground by a disgruntled slave and then rebuilt in 1842. Watch this video for an amazing tour and story of what is Newports finest home.

Great video! And I loved the little tidbits of historical significance told by the lady. She looked beautiful in the period dress. Keep up the great work!

My Employer, David Gerner and his wife are the owners of the Taylor Mansion and I have worked in this building over the years. It is a beautiful home and has been a great place to work. It is on the list of historical places to visit in the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati area.

It's nice to see people of wealth spend some of it on something like this.

I am a direct descendant of James Taylor. My grandfather was James Taylor 10th. I’m sorry to burst such a lovely story with the fact that you have critical information quite wrong. There definitely WAS an heir to the estate. During the civil was the Union soldiers were violently rampaging and raiding homes. Some even commited disrespectful acts against the women. To be safe many southern sympathizers went to Canada. Upon return the federalists refused to return our family home to its rightful owner as was common place post war. Claiming the legal time to reclaim the deed had just passed and so it was. Not so nice and very very wrong. Ruined many a family and some are still reeling from it all.

Huge chucks of history left out here. The Taylor’s left to Canada during Civil War with other confederate sympathizers and secret agents or spies. He was very involved there.
