Well I'm just here to brag, yesterday I opened the commander precons and one of my SAMPLE booster had a full art ugins labrynth
Dude! Same actually!
My pre-release card was Ugin's Labyrinth!
Same it immediately went in the other eldrazi deck.
Same! It came from my Coram precon!
Pulled a full art foil from my Collector booster box

Just coming from fun pre release and indeed, eldrazi horizons 😂
I was gonna say I prefer the older Annihilator Eldrazi but looks like that ULAMOG is the most annihilating-est card ever.
So here I was disappointed that I didn't pull a single planeswalker flip card, but just 3 fetches...and an emrakul and the ugin's labyrinth..lol
Looks like I'll be proxying these 3

Poor Kozilek, got beaten by a land.
For some reason, Kozilek is always the cheapest of three. The Great Distortion now costs around 5$, which is absurdly low, and he costed like 2$ a year ago before all this Eldrazi stuff
One of my playgroup pulled two Emrakuls and is looking to trade one towards and Ulamog.
Needless to say, I will be running Summary Dismissal for a while
The other scary part about Ulamog is that he somehow sees himself enter from exile and comes in with 10 counters if you, say, flicker it with an Ephemerate or similar.

I got a collector pack yesterday and pulled Ugin's labyrinth full art foil. Worst part is, is I never plan on playing Eldrazi
Badass. Picked up a Pre release bundle and pulled a Emrakul, The World Anew Promo, and a Ulamog, The Defiler just from that one bundle box.
Found all 3 of them in one booster box drafting with friends. Truly crazy luck
Yeah, just put some eldrazi for 10+ mana into exile with ugin's Labyrinth and then when you play Ulamog, the Defiler, he is going to be a 17/17 with anihilator 10. If you get to swing with him once, you essentially wiped your opponents board AND did leathal damage, because he most likely has to sacrifice all his blockers. So you don't even need to cast him if you can put some card with high cmc into exile some other way and you still get huge +1/+1 counter and annihilator numbers. You can just cheat him into play. You could even put extra counters on him later to pump that annihilator number, but that would just be overkill, so not worth the card slots in your deck very likely, since you already basically won if you get to attack with this creature. And that ward ability is also pretty good, but often the opponent will have some extra lands or some tokens or dorks they don't really need that badly they can sac to play their removal, but I think it will still hurt the opponent more often than not.
I bought the graveyard precon when this set came out and the labyrinth was in the sample pack I opened. Almost shit my pants.
I pulled newlamog from my 2nd pack so I'm pretty happy about that
Fun fact: if Ulamog enters the battlefield from exile, whether you cast it, blink it, or through something like Living Death, it’ll see itself in exile and get 10 +1/+1 counters on it

Would it see itself in exile if you are able to return it to the battlefield from exile? I’m not sure it would see itself? I’m not saying you are wrong I’m just wanting to verify?
Cause it has to ETB before it gets the trigger right or am I wrong?

I unfortunately don't have an Eldrazi deck, so I'm trying to think what the plan with them is.
As an avid toothy player I have never seen a toothy called out in one of these videos before lmao. I’m literally screaming on the emrakrul part 😵
so the ONLY card that can someone stop a Ulamog The Defiler is a Void Winnower, since it stops all even cmc cost cards, but thats only a temp fix

The ETB would still happen and then targeting ulamog would cost you an additional 2 permanents.

If I were to play Ugin’s Labyrinth, then play Animate Land on it to turn it into a creature, then One With the Stars to turn it into an enchantment and lose all other types, then put the ability sticker on it that says, “Tap: Exile target card from a graveyard.” and use said ability, will if be able to tap for 2 from now on since a card was technically exiled with it?
I opened all three of these in my play booster box. Immediately trading/selling them all

The way Ulamog is templated, if you flicker him he'll see himself in exile and come in with 10 counters.
He would be entering the battlefield so no longer would be considered in exile.
Another spell or effect that had cards in exile (ie, Ulamog with Ugin’s Labyrinth) would be considered though.
@@stope420 "If Ulamog is entering the battlefield directly from exile, it will see itself when determining which card has the greatest mana value among cards in exile. If that's Ulamog, which seems likely, it will enter with ten +1/+1 counters on it."

i come here to say that i literally have emrakul, ulamog AND ugins labrynth in an eldrazi deck. kozilek is in there too..please dont take this as me bragging im just very proud.

People need to stop saying permanents with Ward are hard to get rid of, especially if it isn't a Mana cost. Oh, you want that Ulamog gone, have the removal spell, but don't have two permanents to sac? Guess what? The last two Ulamogs had INDESTRUCTIBLE, meaning they actually were hard to get rid of if you didn't have an exile or tuck effect.
Removing it isn't even desirable, taking control of it is. Saccing two tokens to do so is relatively trivial.
The issue is that you can cast this BS on turn 2 or 3 and exile half of someone's library in a manner that is incredibly difficult to counter.
Because even if you counter the spell, that trigger still goes off and has to be countered specifically.
Me casually countering the activated ability and exiling it when it enters battlefield while destroying their lands for playing some tomfoolery

Ulamog might as well read “When you cast this spell, target opponent scoops.”
Why? It seems like there's answers until it attacks.

The cast ability is meh, it's the attack ability that ends games.

Ulamog is better than people realize. If you flicker it, it will SEE ITSELF IN EXILE when it returns. So it comes back from exile with 10 counters. 🤮
