At a Mexican party, if this song comes on, the ENTIRE party is singing this shit at the top of their lungs and passing that tequila around at the same time.
@@DonVon you need to homie. Not just because I’m Mexican but EVERYONE needs to party with Mexicans at least once. I promise you, it’ll be a hell of a night.
I saw Vicente in Denver during one of his last concerts. He sang for 3 hours straight, drinking shots of tequila and gave it everything. He did not need a microphone...his voice was that powerful. Best concert i have ever attended.
I can Co-sign on that because I was lucky enough to see him in Las Vegas and he sang for about 3 hrs also. He ended up getting a fine for takin long. He had his revolver at the hip and takin shots before every song. A true legend for the culture and the world. RIP Chente
"Chente" and Juan Gabriel are the epitome of Mexican pride. Saw Vicente Fernandez around 7 times in my life, and it NEVER got old. This man is the pride and joy of us Mexicanos. His son Alejandro is also an excellent singer. He now has his grandson Alex Jr. singing too. This family has a gift for having golden voices.
Yoooo for the Record, Vicente Fernandez is the renowned king of Miariachi, and its alot older that 14 years old! He is like the Ray Charles of the black culture oldies
Vicente was once a guest at a Mexican late night show and they told him as a prank that he was gonna have to lip synch his song due to technical issues. He threatened to walk out and not perform because "he doesn't do that kind of shit" to his fans.
Dude, we ALL feel it when this song comes on. Everybody stops what they're doing for to sing along to that "VOLVER VOLVER VOOOOOOLLLLVEEEEEEERRRRR!" part. 😂
That siren was the CLASSIC GRITO! I was just 12_ years old when I first heard him at a concert I went too with my uncles and aunties! Fast forward. I was 65 and saw him in concert again. My son took me! My best concert! Cuz my son Aaron was able to do that high GRITO! I TAUGHT HIM ! LOL. I learned to echale! Papacito!
This is THE GOAT! Grow up with him You had everybody in the whole family listening to him You would go to a funeral a birthday party a wedding every single celebration for multiple generations had to be Vicente Fernandez and his music. Legends never die. I'm so glad that so many people even after his death are finding out who he is. Snoop Dogg did a tribute to him at one of his concerts shortly after he passed and many others celebrities that I have no idea even knew who he was but apparently did. He's iconic.
You know a backside story vicente never liked singing with other artists, but when asked by a reporter, if there was an artist that he wanted to do a duet with, he said yes Javier Solis and Alfredo Jimenez, which now are dead, if you get to hear them you will get where he is coming from
I've been listening to Vicente since I was in my mom's womb. My dad played him every weekend while he pretty much got drunk. Still.... I love it. I love his music. It's in my DNA. His voice is UNICA... one and only. I cried when he passed. I got to see him in concert. Best memory ever. RIP Chente❤
the big hats are worn by Charros, (aka cowboys) in Mexico. Historically these horseman from the countryside, worked on the haciendas and rural areas performing all his tasks on horseback. They are also typically used by mariachi musicians while performing as a nod to the culture
I’m 35 now. My first concert was Vicente Fernández when I was 8 years old. I got to see him tour right before he died. He does his thing where he pulls the mic away from him and belts his heart out and you could hear him through the arena. To this day that memory lives and I’m joyful to have witnessed that. As far as his clothing and the hat, it the traditional charro clothing. It originated from the Spaniards in the 1700s and it’s what was worn e or king with livestock and it evolved from then on. If you want to hear another great singer with amazing range recommend Jose Jose.
Vicente Fernández and Juan Gabriel are the Biggest Mexican Legends Ever Existed! And I’m so proud to say that I saw both of them in live concerts! They are the Best in Mexican Music 🇲🇽🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Man I have had the great experience of seeing Juan Gabriel, Jose Jose and Vicente Fernandez live at the Juarez fair and just a couple of feet away and it's a totally different experience than seeing them in a normal concert great experience!!
i saw him at the joe freeman coliseum in San Antonio back in the 90's and when he did that long note he pulled his mic down during that note and in the whole arena you could not tell the difference
You had me lmao on "ma tun mare" 🤣 volver means return. He wants to return to his love. He is willing to swallow his pride and ready to die to return into his loved arms. Very romantic actually.
One of the amazing things about this type of singing is that the singer will almost hold themselves back at the beginning, a gentle start that feels like the calm before the storm. Then once its time to belt it out, it goes STRONG, either as a boom as a sustained note or even as the Grito. The techniques vary with every singer but its fascinating to see how they all follow the pattern
Oh, Vicente Montero, he was my gma’s fav. She’d start her Saturdays listening to him and cleaning, and always ended up drunk and still listening to him 🤣 He’s another classic. He has amazing songs.
I like how no matter what race or genre person I watch they all get a similar expression of….sadness? Bittersweet? Like it translates regardless of you understand Spanish cause of the passion and emotion Vicente performs with
Return, return…and yes. Vicente --Chente -- plus I am THAT OLD … thank you for discovering/exploring Mexican folklore. Another icon…I am old enough to have seen him Live. He embraced his audience to the point we became his chorus. Oh, the memories you, young man, are bringing. I am smiling ear to ear. Yes..that is him going that high. It is an art!
Oooo.. ANOTHER Great Icon of Mexican music who is no longer with us!!... Juan Gabriel....Ballads Vicente Fernandez.. "Ranchera" That little high octave yell..is a "3 Tequila shot" LOL.. Sr. V. Fernandez had an Amazing international career as well..INCLUDING a duet with none other than the late Great Ledgendary.. Mr Tony Bennett!!!.. with the song Return to Me..(Regresa a Mi)... Thnk U and God Bless ✌️❤️😎👍👍🇺🇸🇲🇽
In my opinion Vicente's voice is the best from Mexico, there are many spectacular musicians and singers in Mexico but Chente is an icon and a legend. I am puertorrican married to a Mexican and I had a crush on Vicente when I was a teen because of the melody of his voice even tho he was WAY older than me
I live in San Antonio, Texas. In some Mexican restaurants they play Mexican music in the background. When Vicente sings VOLVER, people usually stop eating, forks other suspended in the air or down on the plate, as they get a faraway look and sometimes tears in their eyes.
He realized he was wrong and knows he lost and wants to go back to his woman. This gets me in the feels. Grandma would play it at the ranch in Jalisco as if we were at some concert. The days I wish I could go back to. 😢
@donvon Look for Sigo siendo El Rey that song and his voice will blow you out the water 💦!! I’m Dominican 🇩🇴🇩🇴 and we love both Vicente and Juan Gabriel.
Vicente was the Mexican Elvis! He was so talented. RIP Vicente.😊 My wife, who is from Mexico wanted to see him as he was the greatest singer South of the Border. He came to Phoenix a couple of years ago. I was excited to see him too. As a "Gringo"(White Male) who grew up in Albuquerque, NM I knew his music as you'll hear Volver at least once a night at any Karoke event. He was an Actor who was also a gifted singer in his early years and I think he was probably sang until the end of his life. The only Mexican singer I've ever seen; The man brought the house down! He was $hit faced after 3 hours of singing. After about every three songs, he'd take a shot of Tequila! He was incredible! I'm glad I got to see him perform. His music will last forever!❤
Volver mean to come back. He wants to come back to his loves life, he said he will get to where ever she is, he knows how to count his loses/ knows about loss but is eager to volver/come back. That is the song in a fast summary
Recommend you listen to Luis Miguel, my personal favorite song "La Bikina" 🤙🏼 As a native of Mexico, thanks for listening and admiring our music, respect! 🙏

Totally they don’t make artists, interpreters showmanship like before he was one of the best
I saw him in Vegas and here in LA! Love every minute of it and we were taking shots along with him!!❤
I know that's a concert you'll NEVER forget!!
The siren is El grito (the shout) and it reflects happiness, pain, everything and anything that you want it to mean
hahahaha thats a good explanation man
That "grito" is the Aztec Warrior War Cry baby.
@@nayadecardenas3666 as a Mexican, I’d say that it’s the roots/origin that has carried through decades :))
The "siren" you heard is what we Hispanics refer to as El grito and its in a lot of Vicentes music
*Mexicans
Snoop Dogg paying tribute to chente was very special.
I'm white... and Vicente was the GOAT! ❤ RIP...getting drunk at the kickback listening to Vicente just hits different! Lol
If you liked Vicente im sure you would enjoy José Alfredo Jiménez
You have a lil hispanic in you if you like this music to drink to. I love that you can appreciate and enjoy music😊😊😊
Hell yeah!
You defffff invited to the carne asada and the quinces!
@jenniferportillo6758 I'm always down! ❤️
He is the only one that could sing without a microphone and would sound exactly the same

Omg. Wow, very honored either way to have exoerienced this
@DonVon hope you got to see the lyrics translation
This was back in the 70s. We grew up listening to "Chente" and I've told my kids they need to know who Chente is & his sounds. He is Mariachi
Vicente was once a guest at a Mexican late night show and they told him as a prank that he was gonna have to lip synch his song due to technical issues. He threatened to walk out and not perform because "he doesn't do that kind of shit" to his fans.

My daughter plays softball in college and this is her walk up song.
José Jose singing El Triste !! He won an international amateur singning contest late 70s with that song. It will give you goose bumps
Jose Jose didn't win ... he came in 3rd (total rip off) - no one remembers the 1st or 2nd place songs but everyone knows "El Triste!"

I miss Chente 😢 irreplaceable. My family and I used to watch his movies when I was little. That man has a special place in my heart.
If you were to hear his natural voice,it sounds nothing like his singing voice, he was a true LEGEND 🙏🏻
You know a backside story vicente never liked singing with other artists, but when asked by a reporter, if there was an artist that he wanted to do a duet with, he said yes Javier Solis and Alfredo Jimenez, which now are dead, if you get to hear them you will get where he is coming from
A lot of the songs he sings are not his they’re of Jose Alfredo Jimenez
I’m so glad I got a picture with him before he passed 🙏
Vicente Fernández es el ídolo de México. Su música representa al Méxicano

the big hats are worn by Charros, (aka cowboys) in Mexico. Historically these horseman from the countryside, worked on the haciendas and rural areas performing all his tasks on horseback.

Yes, they were a practical means to stay protected by the sun during the long hours of working outside.
The voice of Mexican regional music! Vicente Fernandez, one of a kind!
That siren sound you mention is the typical sound that's normal in Mariachi songs.
The Grito (Shout) and the vocals sustained is about being proud of being a hardworking person and respecting everyone
4:40 "batutaré, batuntaré" HAHAHAAHAH. You nailed it, bro. Actually, it's "yo sé perder, yo sé perder" (means: " I can loose/I know how to loose).
Legends that are missed ! My best memories of my mom whom is no longer on this earth ..
The only thing I can do with my voice es ese grito. Lo.amo
