This was extremely emotional for me. I'm 38 years old and my now deceased father used to play Elton John and others on his on his hifi system when I was growing up. In the late 90's and early 2000's I discovered Collide with Chasing The Ghost and Some Kind Of Strange. I've been going through some mental health issues on and off, and going down the Spotify rabbit hole while enjoying some mild mind altering gummies, I decided to check on Collide again.. Low and behold. This cover was SO BEAUTIFUL. Both reminded me of my father, and my own independent youth as a late teen.. and really brought it all together in a way that was most meaningful to me right now. Thank you. I needed this.
I had just finished listening to Sweet Jane...first time through the complete CD. Loved the song, then heard the first few words of Rocket Man. Screeching freaking halt .....teen years driving around the countryside consuming legal beverages of course, hearing Rocket Man in the late-night hours just flooded my mind. Forever erased now is that old version replaced with this cover. The mix of instrument and voice is hypnotic, and no hangover in the morning. Seriously though - it takes special talents to achieve the Collide sound and this song is a prime example. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
