Definitely!! She is a fantastic sailing vessel, 2/3 wind speed in the Pacific Ocean, the company, unlike others, is 100% behind the product. Our troubles have been from B&G. SW is re-designing the steering system, they are listening to owners and we will have a complete refit in NZ. And don’t forget this is hull 6 and we have been the ones finding issues for future hulls. We love our SW 1609
Wow, seems like everything is going astray? This episode is really special as we learn from the many repairs you have completed on this passage. Thanks for sharing and we pray for your safety without more complications.
Yoda chases the bird off the bow to the top of the mast. should have hoisted Yoda up the mast.....the walk around to better enjoy the sail is a good idea. Wanted Posiden to help? well the seas were very calm when u needed to fix the steering, that seems helpful to me. 😀 Fair Winds 😎
😂😂 Poor Yoda. She runs every time we get the bosun chair out we made her sit in it for a thumbnail. I suppose you’re right, we were fortunate overall. 😊
When I first saw you guys I thought your full potential was just sailing around the Bahamas. I was dead wrong. You guys are such an inspiration. To more achievements!
OMG 😱 ‼️ Such a pretty boat. 🎉🎉🎉 Bummer on t h e malfunctions, yet k n ow Seawind will take care of you, especially as you are making the issues public. Boats have issues just like everything else. Love the positive vibes. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
Thank you 😊 We work very closely with SW and for a new hull in a relatively new boat model is normal to find issue and improvements. The manufacturer is 100% supportive and it is a lot of fun to work with them to make a better boat! 😊😊
I was wondering the team in the Pacific Ocean ! Congratulations crossing the equator! I have never imagined that you guys come to this far! Problems are always there even living on the shore but l really cross my fingers for the team ! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Oh my goodness that Insta360 X3 camera is like having a mini drone flying ahead of you! It did make me feel like I was there ❤. Missing our Pacific Family 😊 .. Good times 🤗⛵️
That was awesome! Another great episode. I think you guys are having a wonderful time out there on the ocean, and I'm so glad that the weather has been so kind to you, it could be so much worse. If I may offer some unsolicited advice yet again. 1. Please check your terms and conditions as a number of channels I have watched have indicated that they have been 'warned or pinged' by Starlink for use of the device whilst they are mobile. Of course this probably depends on the plan that you have signed up with them with them for, and I'm not aware, of course of what your plan is. So I'd check anyway. 2. The gudgeon pin should be long enough to allow for stainless steel washes to be placed both underneath and above the cotter pins. This helps in a number of ways: reducing wear and tear on the pins and it helps take up some of the slack, so there's not as much play which helps reduce wear and tear and noise. I would also tie whipping twine to the lower cotter pin, with no tension on it, back the to the assembly somewhere so should pin where loose it's retained on the whipping twine. Also keep a box of varying sizes of cotter pins in your toolbox. That midnight swim, looked absolutely lovely, and the water was so blue, fantastic! Was it warm or cold? It look like you really enjoyed it. On another note, I'd say the boobies are fairly tired if they're willing to come and stand on your boat for a couple of hours. Especially given how difficult it was to get them to move on, I would say that they're fairly fairly tired. So I myself would be reluctant to force them to move on okay, I understand that it may be a little messy at times, but it's easily cleaned with a bit of water and a brush. I enjoy the close wink with mother nature, while it lasts as it seems you did. All the best for the up coming miles, I'm sure, you'll make it with the fuel you have left. You could also look at bearing away from your nominal heading by just a few degrees, when the wind is a little on the nose. This will help to pick up a little boat speed as opposed to wanting to turn the engines on and stay on your heading. I understand this will create a slightly longer course and take a bit more time but it may save a lot in the long run and be more enjoyable with the sails up rather than the engines on. Looking forward to when you get here. OK, fair winds and following seas!
Thanks so much for all the helpful tips and information!! The water was refreshing during the midnight swim, cool but not cold. As long as the boobies weren’t on the windex we were happy to have them along for the ride; except when Yoda had to go potty. She would not go with them up there so we shooed them away and once she was done they came back. They were with us for about a week!
I've heard in many other chanels and magazines that Seawind has one of the best supports. I find this very nice since, after all, your boat is from the first series so you're kinda "beta testers" for them. I find this boat VERY interesting and the knowledge you're passing them must be valued and rewarded by them. I understand boat companies are not like airplane companies, in which they build prototypes and test, test and test it before putting it on the market. Maybe only Monsieur Henry Amel did this, but I don't think the company still practices this after his death. Hope you're all fine, including Wanderlust and the autopilot! Oh, the 360º camera is very nice! Fair winds and 'till nest week!
Thank you Jose! 100% correct, this is a new boat and hull #6, we are one of the first SW 1600 to do serious ocean sailing and it’s actually exciting and fun to work with the builder to identify issues and potential improvements. SW has great customer support!
Hi Guys, another great video with really interesting Sailing chores. Fabio looks very happy too which is great. Which STARLINK package do you have. That looks awesome speediest
It was a great passage!! We have the in motion flat antenna with mobile global, unlimited data on land (at anchor) and $2 per gig underway. When we shot the footage, on passage, we still had unlimited data in the ocean!! Thanks for watching!😊
Be safe out there! I had a feeling those rutters would be problemic and that is not something you want problems with in the middle of the ocean. I’m glad Seawind figured out the problem with the autopilot! I’m curious to see how other new Seawind models will fair I would be a bit disappointed if I was living through all of these issues to be honest I’m not sure how you guys are holding it together! Praying for you all with no other major issues for the rest of your passage.
Thank you Tim! Our boat is hull number #6 and one of the first ones to do serious ocean sailing. We work with SW very closely to identify and sort out weaknesses in the design and potential improvements. It is part of designing a new performance cat and making her seaworthy. One thin is for sure, you would not find this kind of support and partnership with many other builders! Thanks for watching!!
@@HarborsUnknown that’s awesome to hear I’m so glad SW has been partnered and helpful through the whole process and they have been willing and going above and beyond to get the bugs worked out. It is expected with any new boat design. That is good to know Wanderlust is the first to do a major ocean crossing I was wondering about that as well. Looking forward to all of your adventures in the South Pacific and 🙏🏻 everything goes smoothly!
Seawind has been very supportive and had Gurit (the engineering company) do a full review of the steering system and we’ll be getting a refit in New Zealand.
😂😂😂 regardless which boat you decide to buy remember what BOAT stands for: Broken Or About To. This is hull #6 of a performance cat and the steering system is unique in its own design. Seawind ( unlike many other manufacturers) has a wonderful partnership with sailors like us and we work together to address improvements and design a superior vessel. This is not for everyone, however, many people may prefer a production cat like Lagoon or FP with hundreds of hulls in production. We love our Seawind, great designs, great performance, solid built and fantastic customer support.
I'm enjoying your passage. There's always something to worry about, isn't there. ❤
You are 💯% correct!! Always something😊😊 and that’s what makes it interesting. If you like challenges, sailing will provide you with abundance 😂
Great job with your channel.
Thank you! We appreciate your comment! 😊
So would you buy the boat again?

Thank you!! That is boating!! Some people choose not to show it, the regality is that things break constantly. Thanks for watching! 😊😊😊
Beautiful passage!

Excellent picture visual of the rudder issue. How are you all feeling now about the crossing given you have had some land time to process past events?
Great experience! We are glad to be able to step on land though 😂😂 especially Yoda

Too bad you experience it in the middle of the ocean, hopefully you can safely make it to your destination.
