    what a great video. Thank you. This is exactly what I've been trying to figure out. My studio set up is set up to do exactly this. Thank you Zephan, truly great help and inspirational.

    Hi Zephan, great video! Really clear and helpful. I've been running this setup but encountered an issue when working in a large auditorium. When our in-person host and remote guest have a conversation the remote guest hears an echo of themselves, which is probably coming via the PA and through the host microphone. Have you encountered this, and found a way to get around it other than the sound engineer just riding the levels?

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  Год назад

      Typically when we bring an audio tech to set up our own PA this doesn’t happen so long as the speakers are placed properly in the room. Mine was explaining to me that if the speakers are placed in front of the stage or where people speak at the front of the room then this doesn’t happen as often.

    Great video.. Glad to see that the livetrack L-8 is being used, I love it a lot. Was trying to comprehend everything you went over in the video and yes it's a little complex, but It does give me some ideas for possible projects in the future. How did you end up figuring all this out in the first place?

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  2 года назад +1

      A lot of testing, trial and error and having a mentor that had been in the video industry for 30+ years. To be honest my 4 year college education had nothing on working in the industry and learning from others.

      @@youritguy1 And what most people don't see (I wish I could screenshot this for you) is as much as I'm active on RUclips and social media, I'm literally out here in the field every day doing this for a living. This morning was a client call to quote a massive $70,000 live streaming project over the course of 8 days, this afternoon I'm conducting a site survey for a smaller sub $5K project and then tomorrow I've got a few hours planned for packing all my gear up and heading down to DC for a livestreamed event Thursday-Saturday with a few other gigs sprinkled in between.
      It's not to brag about the price tags it's just to say I'm out here every day doing really small stuff and really big stuff and everything in between so the learning happens hourly!

      @@zephanmoses Please tell me you take some time for yourself and relax.lol Really appreciate the time you give us in making these videos and also answering our comments. Every live stream project I do is always a learning experience for me. Two weeks ago I did a live stream for a client and everything that could go wrong actually did. However, I did learn a few lessons which will only help me in the future. Now go and make your money my friend.

    Sup Zephan, how are you? Great content as always. In the beginning of the video you showed us a supersampled screen and after that you cut to a full screen virtual guest. How did you do that with just one hdmi signal comming from the virtual caller unit? Thanks a lot for bringing this knowledge to us.

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  3 года назад

      Hi Guilherme, the Mac Mini inside the virtual caller unit has two displays (as seen on the front) so there are two HDMI signals coming out of the Mac. Display one is the HDMI output from the Mac Mini into the left display. Display two is a USB-C to HDMI cable out of the Mac Mini and going into the right display. When there is a guest in Zoom, you must have at least 3 people on the Zoom call to enable the ability to pin a guest full screen to the second display. Sometimes I'll put my phone or an additional computer in the Zoom call to make sure there are 3 "guests" then I simply "PIN" the person's video feed to the second display and loop it from the display into my ATEM Mini Extreme.

    What do you use when your remote guest has a PPT to show? How do you isolate that source while them still having full control of advancing slides?

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  2 года назад +1

      Great question. We use Slides.com - they upload their PowerPoint in advance, Slides basically lets us keep it up full screen on one of our computers but the guest can advance the slides from a custom link on their side. Alternatively Zoom recently just added a feature where a guest can share their screen for slides and anyone else in the Zoom meeting can advance on their behalf. Check it out here: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/4411656450701-Controlling-slides-shared-by-another-participant

    Great video ! I don't understand quite well how you can make two Zoom calls on the same computer. Do you use the Zoom app for the green room and then a browser for the second Zoom ? Also is there any video delay of the return feed with the web presenter ?

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  2 года назад +1

      It’s not two zoom calls for bringing in the virtual guest, zoom is just our final destination for this setup in particular. But you could use the atem’s encoder to send the livestream anywhere. For bringing in a virtual guest, it’s only one zoom call but it used two displays. I watch gallery view on display one and pin people full screen to the second display. The pinned person on the second display is looped out to my atem and that’s how I bring a virtual guest into a livestream. I provide them a return feed of the livestream so they can see and hear what’s happening. Using mix minus in my audio mixer, I can feed audio back to them via the web presenter so they hear everything but their own voice (the audio from the zoom call is fed to the atem but not to the web presenter).
      There’s no delay on the web presenter (at least not noticeable).

      Me again :) @9 min you said you created two Zoom calls. One with your account and the second with the client account. So how you bring the guest (green room) into this second client Zoom ? Thx !

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  2 года назад

      @@yveslarivierre We’re only utilizing one zoom for bringing the virtual guests in. The second zoom is where the show is being livestreamed. The atem mini feeds into zoom number 2 (USB-C webcam connection) which is where the whole show is broadcasting to the audience. That zoom is on my streaming computer which doesn’t reside on this desk. That’s a completely different element and has nothing to do with bringing virtual guests in. It’s strictly the platform we’re using to stream the live show rather than streaming to Facebook or RUclips.
      I explained this at 8:49 where I said I’m taking the show into my MacBook Pro and feeding it to Zoom but you could send the livestream to any platform that the atem mini is compatible with from Vimeo to BigMarker, Hopin, etc.

    How do you deal with video delay and the virtual guest getting a return feed of themselves?

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  3 года назад

      The guest visually will get a return feed of themselves but will not get their own audio because the web presenter has an XLR input where I inject only the audio of the person that's in my studio. We've found it's helpful for the guest to get a return video feed of themselves because they can tell when they are actually live. As far as delay Zoom is fairly minimal delay so it's not really an issue.

      I’d rather avoid ever using a PC again 🤣 plus this way I can rely more on hardware than software. With hardware if something isn’t working I can swap it out. With software bugs you have to wait until they find it and update it. With that said we use a Tricaster TC2 on bigger budget and higher end events that does the same thing as Vmix.
