  • Be part of one of the largest surround sound artworks in the world and go up into the air with the Sky Orchestra in this unique and powerful 360˚ experience.
Filmed on the 1st of September 2020, this VR experience puts you in 1 of the 7 hot air balloons that floated over Bristol serenading the city with specially commissioned piece "A Moment in Time". The project was conceived by renowned international artist Luke Jerram and BAFTA-winning composer Dan Jones to offer hope for the future and showcase the creative talent of Bristol.
A Moment in Time features the premiere of a new composition commissioned by Bristol Old Vic, played through speakers attached to the balloons, alongside live accompaniment from guitarist Jerome Gamble as he plays above the city from the Roger the Panther Balloon.

"It's been exciting to be able to bring together some of Bristol's most celebrated musicians alongside emerging young talent from across the city; Bristol continues to be a launchpad for musical innovation that spreads right around the world. This was a great opportunity for all of us to thank the city as a continued source of inspiration." - Dan Jones
"As the city begins to breathe again and before we hold our breath to head into winter, we wanted a way to deliver an uplifting experience to people. Something spectacular, yet somehow intimate; to create a sense of renewal, hope and rebirth, to raise the public's spirits and mark a moment in time." - Luke Jerram
"All of Bristol is a theatre and the safest performance space in the world is the sky. Many performance venues in Bristol remain closed, but the need for inspiring work by our most extraordinary artists is greater than ever. We were thrilled to be able to collaborate with Luke and Dan and a host of Bristolian musicians on this wonderful project, their gift to the city during lockdown." - Tom Morris, Bristol Old Vic
Sky Orchestra - A Moment in Time took place with kind permission from Bristol City Council, within social distancing guidelines.

Nice project. But no one wearing a mask in the middle of a pandemic. No wonder the UK has large numbers.
