This takes me back to my years off grid in Scotland..hauling and breaking ice daily for cattle ,sheep, dogs and poultry and at the end of that, for my family. Nopè dont miss that 😅
@@EmbracethechaosPortugal that's what I say when spring arrives. Not going to miss it. Sad fact is I bust my butt in spring and summer working here. Winter = fat and lazy.
I bet it does. I find myself watching your videos and saying yup yup yup yup lol. So is your ice thicker? I just refilled that a few days ago. We had rain so I dumped it , cleaned it and let God refill it. Fall leaves had crap on the bottom. Now it fresh and frozen. I use a 2 gallon bucket for chicks. So far no freezing even with coop door open. Once day time temps drop I'll heard them inside every night.
I haven't checked the thickness of the bog ice yet. After all the rain and snowmelt there were some open spots where the otters made it their play area. Love watching the otter here.
@@hippiechickoffgridmaine8625 IT concerns me that my son wants to follow in my footsteps. Hahahaha. Honestly once you live like this you tend to greatly dislike cities. I'm trying to keep my wording ah gentle hahaha.
@@hippiechickoffgridmaine8625 those are the people I avoid. My son comes here for a few hours every Saturday. Every week he expects a list even when I'm not in the mood for work. Hoping to get my tractor back before heavy snow comes or I'll be snowed in. What part of Maine are you in. I hear most of your population comes from 2 counties. Sebago lake is where I spent my summers as a kid.
Yes, ive got a 32 gallon barrel frozen solid. It took everything i had to drag it out to a sunny spot. I usually get the ice out in one huge 32 gallon chunk, take the hatchet, bust chunks to fill buckets then bring them inside to melt 😂
