I was accepted to medical school this week! I know this will be a challenging career, but there’s nothing I’d rather do. Thanks for making these videos, they’ve helped inform my choices multiple times on my road tk get this far :)
Honestly any time I look up things about becoming a neurologist they seem so depressed, burned out ans overworked. Highly discouraging. I'm going to do derm instead they always seem happy.
As an Ophthalmologist I would say that if you choose any medical specialty because it says something to who you area as a person you will be happy. Of course monetary compensation is an important factor and it seems that Ophthalmology while still very good is perhaps lagging comapred to some other medical-surgical specialties such as ORL.. however the ability to restore vision in impaired patients is truly rewarding. And all specialties shoudl have their unique meaningful moments and these uniqueness is ultimately what you must pursue ;)
I am already finishing my medical internship, but I am so confused about what specialty to choose. Thanks for a little help with these videos, I hope I can make a decision soon
@Jiha-ed9lv now I may be wrong. Please correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't india one of the easiest countries to become a doctor? It's no excuse for the lack of respect, but that's probably where it comes from.
Good work! What an interesting video to put all the factors into perspective. Your videos greatly helped me identify what parameters are most important to me to ensure I am going in the right field!
In the Middle East dermatology is still high in demand but I hear lots of dermatologists complain about patients being so hard to satisfy and always so demanding which make doctors stressed and overworked as well.
Not sure whether that influences derma lifestyle or not.. All specialities are far from perfect anyways. So, I still think derma is amazing job and the payment is great.
Isn't neurosurgery in the top 5 of the specialties with the highest salary? I was convinced that neurosurgery was one of the highest paying specialties🤔
Great video as always, however, I noticed a factual inaccuracy. At 2:46 the base of Maslow's hierarchy of needs should be physiological, not psychological.
I have a question about the Physician Compensation. Is compensation and salary different? I’m guessing that salary is the income that’s earned on paychecks while compensation is income along with other benefits like insurance & 401k???
I have a question I like anesthesia but what’s the difference between anesthesia assistant and anesthesiologist how long does it take to become an (AA)?
I recommend viewers search Molemen Herbs on the RUclips channel to learn their natural methods to heal and reverse different health conditions and ailments.
From my interactions with Palliative doctors they typically seem pretty happy. Their whole job is minimizing suffering as much as possible which is incredibly rewarding. A visit from the palliative care doc can be the highlight of a suffering patient’s day.
Are you Canadian or American or from a different country? -If American, volunteer or shadow (not sure how it works as I’m from Canada and shadowing is absent in Canada) or educate yourself on health/medicine related subjects -Canadian: volunteer, educate yourself on health/medicine topics -Different country, should be the same for the above -In any case, it’s your first year, you should be pretty lenient on yourself. enjoy the break unless you do extra studying for fun. Being a premed stresses the important of time management and balance in life. So take it easy in the break, you’ve just about finished your final exams and you should be able to reward yourself with doing what interests you and something that isn’t so taxing. Another idea is to look at anatomy cards
Concentrate on your school for now and get into the habits of college. If you do a lot of time-consuming extra curriculars, your grades may suffer and that will look to medical schools like you do not manage your time well. If by the end of your first semester, you’re knocking it out of the park, get a job with your university’s tutoring program and tutor other kids a couple times a week. I wouldn’t start volunteering and clinical exp until 5th semester. It’s hugely important to pace yourself. Do join your pre med clubs right away, though. Then at some point you may be promoted to leadership within the club.
@@mustang8206 I always wonder the same thing how do people not know about PA’s before applying have they not been in hospital before? Or is their knowledge of the healthcare industry is just that bad
@@bluethunder9102 a lot of them are middle class IMGs/FMGs. With how competitive US med schools are, it's impossible to have never heard of mid-levels because it's literally part of the multipanel med school interview process in the states.
USMLE? Are you planning on staying in Spain or do you want to go to the US or Canada, because if you stay in Barcelona you don't need to take the USMLE, just the MIR exam. But if you want to go to the Northern countries of North America, I think you are eligible, as long as you have the medical training and a couple of other criteria, though I don't remember which ones.

I want to be a neurologist and am clicking randomly in youtube to find motivation. Guess what I got haah
Same
Literally same. I wasn’t looking for motivation, but I was wondering if Neurology made it to the top 5…. I guess it did lol
congrats best wishes
Neurologist too!

very happy to see Maslow’s hierarchy of needs addressed here
When he said General surgery as 2nd happiest speciality , my heart beat raised 🙈 💓💓💓💓
greys anatomy
Neeeever ever
You should make a “So you want to work in public health!”
Kinda weird that there's nothing on neurosurgery. Would've expected it to be on some of those lists like burnout or compensation
I am already finishing my medical internship, but I am so confused about what specialty to choose. Thanks for a little help with these videos, I hope I can make a decision soon
Me being interested in cardiology and finding it being in both the top 5 unhappy and most well paid careers😧
FR THO-
I am surprised that general surgery continues to be in the top 5 happiest
Lack of respect? A doctor is one of the most prestigious jobs in society
Indian doctors aren't respected within the medical community... general public some of them show high respect

what about anestheologist how is their life
Hi! I wanted to ask, what made you choose to become a doctor over a PA or NP (or another kind of doctor like a vet or dentist)?
I didn't even know PAs or NPs existed when I applied to medical school. Even now, I would prefer to be a physician.
