A lot of conservatives seem to like the brutality more then the honesty when it comes to being “brutally honest”
Yes it’s like they think it’s funny or something
Conservatives see the most stereotypical 1950s bully ever and say “he’s just brutally honest”
Not so casual reminder that SAG actors are still on strike!! Please support them and keep spreading the word!
My moms boyfriend is on strike and he still has to pay a membership fee which sucks cause he literally can’t work because of them, still support the strike tho
People who say they're too old for Halloween kinda suck tbh
they don’t suck theyeither “grew out of it” or are ashamed they still like it
Just went thrifting in the mens section and got the "Trans Teen Survival Guide" from my library 😈

Money might not make me happy, but being poor certainly makes me upset, so.
Already tried being poor, I’d really like to try out the whole “you can’t buy happiness” bc idk man I think I need to see for myself
this just reminds me of those inspiration p*rn videos where noticeably rich people video poor people being (GASP) happy. and the whole message is something like “money cant buy happiness, look at these poor folk finding happiness elsewhere!!”
and then they dont get helped or donated to because were supposed to expect that theyre already “rich in happiness :D”

2:48 reminder that antisocial is a term for people with ASPD and doesn’t make someone an “extremist” or violent!! Asocial or lonely would be the correct terms
boosting!
Boost.
ASPD was named after being anti-social, not the other way around. Like how the “aut” (like auto) in “autism” refers to supposed obsession with the self. That’s not what autism actually is, but it’s the name that stuck. Violence is textbook anti-social behavior, ASPD is associated with violence. You can see how the name got started.
So it is ASPD which is unfortunately named, not anti-social which is unfairly targeting people with ASPD
@@52flyingbicycles I don’t know how to explain to you that
A- the root word doesn’t change the word *now*
B- violence CAN be a SYMPTOM of u treated trauma, which is what caused aspd. Just like how violence can also be associated with ptsd!
So yeah. “Antisocial” to describe a violent person is ableist. Thanks for your time.
@@goblinguy3103 antisocial is a word for violent/malicious/destructive behavior. It predates the modern naming of ASPD by nearly two centuries. Not everyone with trauma has PTSD but everyone with PTSD has trauma. That rule is typical among well-named mental disorders. The disorder is a square, the behavior is a rectangle. But with ASPD and anti-social behavior, they are more so a Venn diagram. Which tells me the disorder is poorly named. Rather than eating up all other meanings of anti-social than “a person with ASPD” we should change the name of ASPD to decouple it from the negative definition of anti-social.
Anti-social doesn’t mean ASPD, ASPD means antisocial. The second part is the issue. That’s where the stigma comes from.
I’ve noticed a lot of leftist communities have gotten more cut-throat. I believe this is due to not only daily stress being increased (Israel, money, etc) but also the slow shutting down of Twitter. Have y’all noticed this too?
yeah
I feel like most leftist communities I've seen are a lot more obscenity-laden than a lot of other communities. Both from the blunt honesty about violence to the heavy use of cuss words.
Some of that is due to personal taste, but it makes it difficult for me to watch that content due to the RSD with my (suspected) ADHD so it could be argued that the content would be more accessible if presented differently.
It is also worth noting that there's not much (if any) leftist content made for kids or for a family audience. So that's a factor as well.
Let me know where I should be looking for nicer leftist content lol. The black forager in this comp is one leftist with a softer approach to history and such when it comes up. I forgot her name but I follow her lol
They always do
yeah, and nobodys talking about it. lot more antisemitism and debate.
@@dinsoaur7241Thank you. As a Jew with Israeli parents, I’m pissed off at what this government is doing. But I feel uncomfortable in certain circles due to my more complex feelings around the conflict as a whole (I absolutely despise what’s happening to the Palestinians right now and by no means defend it), but yeah. I hope I don’t accidentally start a war in the comments here.
According to conservatives today, facts don't care about your feelings unless it's their feelings...gotcha...that totally makes sense yeah (these people are wild)
also “science never lies” when they talk about “basic biology” (unless the science goes against their feelings, then its a lie)

i'm gonna be honest, i feel a little useless when it comes to actually helping people with real world issues right now. i can't do anything financially cause i don't have my own money and i'm still "too young" to make any "big choices" for myself, and talking to people about stuff like this seems near impossible because of how much my RSD has started spiking and how many of my friends know pretty much nothing about a lot of stuff going on. i'm angry that i don't know any other way i can help that actually works for me.
if it helps, there’s some ways you can simply write your name on certain Amnesty International “Take Action” petitions! Any petitions you find in general are great for those with little agency of their own. If they do ask for a postal/home address, think of a museum address (I use the british museum if i feel a bit iffy about my security).
If you want to take it a but further, if you have time you could find a group or a club that speaks up about real world issues, and hope you don’t have to speak up. I had to leave my school’s Amnesty International since it turned into a “minor identity politics issue club” (like i had seen more ppl talk actively about a mermaid’s skin colour than i did see resources for writing letters and reading leaflets on certain imprisoned individuals) but hopefully where you are, they’ll have others who do agree.
Wish you all the best!
The fact that you are one less person spreading hatred, one less person voting for bigotry, one less person that’s a part of the problem, is doing more than you realize. You being here is beautiful
It's the same for me, and it makes me feel guilty and really sad :(

That's really sad. At the end of the day, if you do have DID (and very few people actually do, most have some kind of conversion disorder - there's a reason DID completely stopped happening when it stopped being in the media) you are still the same person. You are one person. There are not 20 people in your head, they're all you. They're not real. It's really dangerous to let others influence your head like that. Reading another gay book because I cannot bring myself to care about books that dont have queer main characters. Reading Jay's Gay Agenda! So far so good
The book The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern has some wonderfully queer characters, and is about the feeling a lot of fantasy book lovers have that they missed their Narnia as a child because they didn’t open the right door. That’s if you’re looking for recommendations, at least.
If you like stories about modern fantasy worlds with queer characters I'd definitely recommend The Narrows by M. Craig. It's a gripping and fantastic read. 🙌
Ooh, I love that one! May I also suggest the author's other book, Out of the Blue? In addition, here are some other queer books I read and enjoyed: The Queer Principles of Kit Webb (and anything else written by Cat Sebastian- she mostly writes historical romance)
Beneath the Citadel (dystopian fantasy with crime, a mlm romance, bi and ace characters)
Carry On series by Rainbow Rowell (harry potter but better)
Boyfriend Material (fake dating, kind of silly but with heart)
The Sunbearer Trials and Cemetery Boys (both by the same author, both featuring a trans guy as the main character, both focusing on mexican or central american mythos)
I have more if you want!
Gotta recommend Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas if you haven’t read it yet

Seeing the nightmare before Christmas in theaters is honestly once in a lifetime, I was supposed to see fnaf with my friends but they couldn’t. TNBC holds a special place in my heart, maybe it’s because it’s a hyperfixation but it truly does. Idk if theaters are allowed to make productions of it but if that ever happened I think I’d audition for lock, mr. Gambling guy, or if I was brave enough with my head voice maybe sally. I REALLY wish I could sing the low notes Danny Elfman hits as Jack, because honestly that would be my dream to play Jack Skellington. I’m an Alto 2 as an afab (I really wanted to try and be a tenor but I heard that’s relatively hard for afab people to do, I had an afab friend who was a tenor). Honestly the nightmare before Christmas, Danny Elfman, and Tim burton hold such dear places in my heart because they make such magical productions. I was sally a couple years back for halloween, and so was billie Eilish the same year which was like mind blowing for me who loved billie and sally at the time
And sorry not sorry Jack was so cutie like his whimsy and lust for adventure was so cute AND HIS LOVE FOR ZERO AND SALLY ARE SO FUCKING ADORABLE 😭🫶 I need a man like Jack in my life (the only kind of man I’d date tbh)

Given that all stories are about change, it’s often a tactic in story planning to chart your main character’s path. Rapunzel starts off pretty low, figuratively speaking, then things get really good for her. Cinderella starts off decent, then things go really bad, then they get better, then they get really, really bad, and then happily ever after.
Take a story, one of yours or someone else’s. Then you’re going to chart out the trajectory of that story for a character. Then you do one of tree things: extend the chart into a sequel or prequel, distend and exaggerate that line from the inside, exacerbating the events of the story to make them better or worse, or invert the chart and try to find a way to reframe the events of the story to mean something different for the character. (Rapunzel and the witch are lovers, Cinderella actually desperately wants to avoid the prince.)
Write that story.

I found something so concerning and bad that according to the note, was written by my mother. The only thing is that it's not her handwriting. I just. This is like a Steven Universe moment? What I'm reading is so wrong. I know she couldn't have possibly been in her right state of mind when saying this. But my mother, someone I constantly daydream about being able to talk to, giving instructions like these, is not the woman I always think about. I'm always told she was an amazing person. tw//mention of abuse, nothing specific/graphic
if you've been abused by multiple people, be it at once or separately, the fact that someone "abused you less", only did it once or did it rarely, wasn't abusive all the time, the abuse was less traumatic for you, doesn't mean how the abuse affected you isn't valid or shouldn't matter just because it wasn't as bad as what you've endured from other people.
you still were abused and it shouldn't happened, you didn't deserve it and the fact it wasn't the worst thing that happened to you doesn't excuse it nor make your trauma less valid.

8:23 I actually have garden beds in my yard that use this! My mom got really into permaculture when I was a kid and she tried this. Eventually she stopped tending to the garden frequently and I kind of didn’t realize I could take care of it myself. But there’s still stuff growing there! Jicama, figs, sumacs , as well as so many weeds. But the area is healthy and we have so many birds in our yard that love the overgrown areas that it sort of pays off to leave them like that.
i’m really happy today so here’s a positive infodump for you:
i went to see my favorite band in concert for the first time last night!! it was in a relatively small theater, it was really close, and it was actually a festival. the outdoor event ran from like 3-5pm and my mom and i caught the last act (about 45 minutes), and then we got to see all of the indoor acts (which ran until like midnight). i didn’t start to zone out until the penultimate act though, and the main event came on last so i got a huge rush from that lol
i could go on and on about it, all of the supporting acts were great and i sang along with everything the headliners did (except for their one cover, because i didn’t know the words), but i think i’ll leave it at this:
at one point, they did one popular song of theirs, and it’s about nobody being able to tell anyone else that they don’t belong. their cellist dedicated it to all of their queer fans, and the stage lights turned blue, pink, and white during the whole thing (except for the bridge, where they turned rainbow). it was so sweet… the song was already pretty obviously very queer, and they have used it as a way to express solidarity with queer fans, but this just really elevated it for me, i guess. also the pastels were really pretty, like damn those were some nice lights.
i gotta see them live another time, when their drummer and guitarist are back, and a not-festival so i can just get standing room. during the encores i headbanged so hard that i had to take my glasses off… that was so fun

I've been listening to "Jaws", and by that I mean I've been watching a video called "pov neil ciciregia takes to see Jaws but spoils the whole plot". It's apparently a worse quality version of the song (which adds to the vibe), so either the original is going to be really good or too loud.
I'm also aware of the impact that Jaws had on the public view of sharks. It contributed a lot to shark hunting because people thought they were dangerous (they aren't).
Jaws by Lemon Demon prolly isn't as famous as the movie but I really like it. I like when he says nom and whoa, respect, and I like the cowbell.
It feels like he's really excited to talk about the movie, which I love as a vibe. It's really funny though when you look at the title of the video and yet literally nobody tells him to shut up during the movie.
I didn't how's those things even existed I'll have a look at them. I agree that jaws contributed to shark hunting and I didn't realise sharks weren't dangerous! Thanks for telling me I appreciate you
This is acc so cool I'd love to hear more about them bc they should am so cool and I appreciate that I added a pronunciation ^-^
I love linguistics and lately I've been really interested in sign languages so here's so history of some sign languages and some sign language fun facts!
TL;DR at the end cause this is long ASF.
In 1979 during the Nicaraguan Regime change 400 deaf kids of were put into a school with a goal of teaching the kids Spanish. Obviously, this failed miserably, but what did happen, was that the kids in the school made their own sign language. This is arguably THE youngest (natural) language in the world and the only spontaneously developed (natural) language linguists were able to study in real time.
Before this, there was practically no deaf community in Nicaragua, so everyone had their own system of sign they used to communicate with their personal circle. Even tho the methods they used to try to teach the kids were NOT effective, they managed to bring together a bunch of kids with a common need: Communication! So over time while these kids are playing and doing other kid stuff they start sharing their home signs until they make a standard vocabulary that everyone starts using. What's interesting is that the older kids were mostly just using the vocabulary by itself with no grammatical structure, but it's the younger kids that start to develop standardized grammar for the language. These younger kids do things like using the spacing of their hands for conjunction and showing location! In my opinion, this is further evidence to support the theory that humans may have a built in or default grammatical system (take this with a heap of salt because I am by no means an expert, this is just a hobby for me because one a day a video about conlangs popped up on my home page and I've always really liked languages lol)
Just like spoken languages, sign languages have language family trees that trace their origins and connections. A lot of people think that sign languages are just word for word translations of their spoken languages but that's not the case with many of them. This is why sign languages of the "same spoken language" aren't always mutually understandable. LSF (French sign language) and ASL (American sign language) are mutually understandable because ASL is in the LSF family tree. ASL and BSL (British sign language) are not because they are in different language families. But someone who knows BSL will likely be able to communicate with someone who knows AuSL (Australian sign language).
In the early 1800's most deaf people living in the USA didn't have access to education that was for them or met the needs of deaf learners. In 1816, French teachers and American deaf community advocates came together to make a school for deaf students (American school for the Deaf) where they would be taught in a way more catered to them. Students could learn and communicate using sign instead of speech. LSF (French sign language) started to combine with the signs that students had made up on their own and used with their personal circles, creating ASL.
But some people didn't like that deaf people had their own language now. Like Alexander Graham Bell (yes the guy who made the telephone) who argued that deaf people should just integrate into hearing society instead. (You'd think he'd be more understanding considering his wife and mother were deaf but NOPE). In 1880, he was like "hey 164 other educators, let's make a recommended curriculum to teach deaf people how they SHOULD be communicating in Europe and the USA, the same way us hearing people do!". Only ONE out of ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-FOUR of the educators at the conference was actually deaf. Wtf Bell. They thought that sign language was a "inferior imitation of spoken language" and decided that deaf kids shouldn't get to learn sign in school. This lead to the teaching practice of Oralism. Deaf kids were taught to "hear" (read lips) and taught to speak by imitating the mouth of hearing speakers to make sounds.
This conference was so incredibly damaging to the deaf teaching community that there was almost no sign language taught in schools until the 1960's. It was terribly damaging to deaf community large as sign language was banned in the 1880's. (Again, wtf Bell.) This lead to so many deaf people missing out on learning sign, which lead to a lot of deaf adults feeling like they'd been robbed of a good education actually made for them. In 2013, the deaf community was given a formal apology for the Milan conference and the banning of sign language.
The thing is, even people who are really, really, really good at lip reading are only able to pick up on a bout 1/3 of conversations when lip reading. Denying people the ability to have sign language denied people full access to language period.
BASL (Black American sign language) was created because of segregation in deaf schools. When ASL was being taught to white deaf children, it was not being taught to black deaf children so, the need for BASL was clear and it is still used today. The myth that ASL is better than BASL is just that, a myth. No language is better than the other. (the only time you can argue that is when it comes to conlangs). In Craig of the Creek there's an episode featuring a deaf character and both ASL and BASL are featured!
Okay so in Massachusetts you have the island Martha's vineyard and in there you have the town Chillmark and in that town there is a neighborhood. (Ik shocking, a town with a neighborhood). This neighborhood is Squibnocket, where in the 19th century 1 out of 4 people are deaf. Because SO MANY people were deaf the island ended developing it's own sign language, Martha's Vineyard sign language and it was taught in schools to ALL kids, hearing and deaf. Deaf people had THE BEST standard of living there than ANY OTHER PLACE IN THE WORLD at that time. But when the American School for the Deaf opened, a lot of people moved away to Connecticut or came back married with people who didn't have the gene causing the prominent deafness, this kinda killed Martha's Vineyard sign language, but the people who stayed in Connecticut at the school fused it with LSF (this is an example of those home signs that fused with LSF), sonit still lives on today in modern ASL. Also, a lot of people are working on bringing back ASL education in Martha's Vineyard at an elementary school level!
I have more so I'll probably come back and edit this later but that is all I wanna add here for now lol.

TL;Dr's: The Nicaraguan Regime put 400 deaf kids in a school and tried to teach them Spanish. They failed, and the kids developed what is now Nicaraguan sign language.
2: Just like spoken language, sign languages have language families, they aren't just word for word translations of their "spoken counterparts". Because of this a person who knows ASL (American sign language) can understand some who knows LSF (French sign language), but not someone who knows BSL (British sign language). Some who knows BSL can understand someone who knows AuSL (Australian sign language)
3: In 1816 the American school for the deaf was opened and ran by French educators and American advocates. French Sign language+ Home signs and dialects= American Sign Language. Alexander Graham Bell didn't like ASL being taught to deaf people, got over 100 hearing teachers and 1 deaf teacher to decide how deaf people should learn and sign was banned in the 1880's cause of him. Deaf kids were taught lip reading and to imitate hearing people's mouths to speak. There was almost no Sign in schools until 1960 and the deaf community was given an apology in 2013
4: Segregation in America= deaf education for white deaf kids, not for black deaf kids. Black American sign language was created because of this and both ASL and BASL were featured in an episode of Craig of the Creek.
5: In a neighborhood in an island in Massachusetts 1 in 4 people were deaf so they made their own sign language and it was taught to hearing and deaf kids in school. The the American school for the Deaf opened in Connecticut. The people left or came back with people who didn't have the gene causing all the deafness, so Martha's Vineyard sign language died out, but it fused with LSF and other dialects and home signs to create ASL.
