We bought a small 8 acre homestead in 2021 and I can totally relate to feeling like we bit off more than we can chew sometimes. We're here because this is where God wants us right now and there were days I questioned myself. I'll be 60 next week but my heart is still in my 20s 😂. There is still so much to do 2 years later but it's keeping me fit and busy. I love your farm and that event barn is amazing! 🥰🙏👩🌾
My neighbor(in her 70's) when we lived on Whidbey Island, grew up in Grey's Harbor, her dad always grew dahlias and would dig them up every year. She doesn't care to do that so when she trims her ferns back in the fall she layers them DEEP on top of her dahlia bed along with some other natural vegetation to help insulate them over the winter. They seem to do fine. She brings her begonias in her shed every first week of October. Also some fun stuff to add as time goes on is some whiskey/wine barrels to hold bouquets/decor or even make side/standing tables at. Also a pretty arch/arbor with the pretty foresty hills in the background.
Absolutely 💯 about listening to our Lord. So hard to actually stop. Listen. But it always works out when you do. Good reminder this morning, thank you!
LOVE the barn! Turned out beautiful!!!! Love ALL the flowers!!! WOW!!!! Such a beautiful background with the mountains. GOD sure did make a beautiful world.
Oh Melissa! I see you living parts of my dream. All I can see is an event barn right now and some of the land. I don’t even know what events, but it exists in my mind. I'm so happy for you that things have fallen into place for you as you trusted and pushed through the obscure and overwhelming parts. Wishing you all the best, and praying that your health news is benign and manageable and doesn't interfere with your greater goals. ❤
Wow Melissa everything is coming together so beautiful. I had to say you are always so full of wisdom. Needed to hear this today. Blessings, and walk continue to walk in obedience. 💕
I think a cut flower garden would be a good addition to your garden for weddings. Brides can either cut a few flowers to their bouquests or they can make a full loose bouquet from just your flowers, or decorate the venue with some.
WEDDINGS was my first thought 👰♀️🤵🏼. It turned out wonderfully! You are so right about turning it over to God. I have done that most of my life .. & honestly life was miserable til I Actually let it go & let Him guide me 😇 You are such a busy Lady 🥰. 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
YOur new farm, venue and gardens are looking so lovely. Yes we have to do things in God's time, not rush Him. I am busy with major decluttter and renovations, and then aprt of it will be redoing the garden which I am looking forward to
Thank u for the reminder that we need to listen for God's voice and guidance and to trust in his will - my hubby and I are in the finishing stages of our very first homestead and like you, we felt like we bit off more than we can chew. Instead of feeling discouraged by all the issues that's been coming up with building, I'll be still, listen and trust 🙏❤ Your Dahlias are gorgeous 😍 I wonder if I can grow them in Jamaica 🇯🇲 🤔
Thank you. God’s still small voice definitely spoke through you today. I was guided to watch this today for a purpose. Wishing you blessings and abundance. ❤🙏🏽✨
I live in Edmonds, WA. FYI My dahlias are planted at the top of a slope, so they have plenty of drainage. Which is the key! I do not have to dig them up every year.
Melissa your place is amazing! You did excellent work on your barn! The little wildflower you didn’t know the name of is Clarkia, named after William Clark of Lewis and Clark.
Your barn is beautiful! My herb garden is growing….echinacea will be invading taking over dropping seeds everywhere…I did yarrow this year … like to try valerian. God giving you a new journey to enjoy. ❤
Thank you Melissa you always give wonderful information. Your farm is looking so beautiful and the barn/ venue is stunning. Your herb garden is my goal ❤ I started mine this year but its not a big yet but I plan on doubling it next year. Bless you and your family 💞🙏
The farm looks wonderful. I like the metal wood mix - classy, farm but yet rustic. The garden's are very nice. I too like my dahlia's. Beth certainly has a few of them and some wonderful colors. Good job Melissa.
Weddings will be your money maker to help you all financially. A small music festival or music /songwriting workshop could also help you financially as well.
I have a full herbal course that's recorded but I don't film the in-person workshops, I can't film, host and teach and it's expensive to hire a film crew for the whole day
@MelissaKNorris It's too bad that it's not an option, but I understand why it isn't. I would be interested in a webinar or pre-recorded video lecture as traveling to Idaho, as much as I would enjoy it, isn't really an option for me at this time.
It is so refreshing to listen to someone who talks about God and about allowing Him to control our life instead of us trying to control it. God bless you!
great video, this is a little off subject but, have you ever canned ham, and string beans with potatoes we sure would like to do this but want to be safe

A preacher we really respect always said that the most important thing to do is learn how to be led by the Holy Spirit!

Dahlias are a tropical plant, so, yes! You can grow them in Jamaica 🥰
Thank you for sharing. I needed to hear this today. ❤
A nice outdoor touch to your building would be and inoperable farm tractor with a fresh coat of paint on it that people can sit on and take pictures.
Thank you. God’s still small voice definitely spoke through you today. I was guided to watch this today for a purpose. Wishing you blessings and abundance. ❤🙏🏽✨

Thank you. Speaking in volumes to my soul and spirit this morning!
Your dahlias are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Love them and I love what you have done to the property!
Such a wonderful video. Keep listening to God’s voice.
It would be so pretty if you hung herb and flower bouquets here and there from the rafters with all the twinkle lights. Blessing to you and yours.
Melissa your place is amazing! You did excellent work on your barn! The little wildflower you didn’t know the name of is Clarkia, named after William Clark of Lewis and Clark.
Bless you and yours, thank you for all the knowledge you share, I’m always happy to support you in the ways that I can😊❤️

I would love to hear more… especially, if you dealt with any raw land, deconstruction, or utility headaches…/cool vid! 🚜🌳🚧😎

Always love herbs !

I also have a vision of a u-pick herb garden. Please keep us updated on that!
Saffron is a good plant that may make you some money!
Your gardens are beautiful!!!
Love the barn!!
You've done so much in a year! It's beautiful and so are the stories behind it. And now I need to know what that small red sunflower was!
I got the seed from Floret Farms!
Beautiful Sis ! 😊
You will make it all work out
Beautiful! What a great job you did. 🙏🏻❤️Val C
dahlias are VERY addicting! But if you're doing weddings, you 100% need more at your farm stay property! (Sorry Mr. Norris haha)
When im scared, i remind myself that god sees around corners. We can trust him to lead us in the right direction
I would love to know where you purchased your wildflower seed mix? It’s a beautiful variety!
I love the pollinator update. Did you remove all the old original plants from the garden?
What brand of essential oils do you use?
Do you ever film your live workshops so that people who cannot attend in person can still benefit from the instruction and information you offer?
I have a full herbal course that's recorded but I don't film the in-person workshops, I can't film, host and teach and it's expensive to hire a film crew for the whole day

@@MelissaKNorris Thank you for responding to my question! 🙂

That flower is a Clarkia.
If you want God to laugh, tell Him your plans. 😉
@10:44 is the start of garden details
1 year old garden not 107
Otherwise you could say
It’s a 4.5 billion year old garden the age of our 🌎 😊

Usually love your videos, but way too much god talk in this one for me.
