Someone asked me not long ago what my dream would be if I could do anything and I said I'd own a working homestead with buildings for guests and we could offer classes and opportunities to work on the homestead. I love that you were able to buy this amazing ranch and that you'll be able to have this dream.
I'm sure the Hornbeck family is thrilled that their family's heritage will be preserved and the farm brought back to life. I love every inch of what you showed and would love to visit your farm as an Airbnb. Excited for you and your family!
Awesome-sauce and congratulations on your purchase! Just a suggestion, a sleeper sofa or Murphy bed in the living room so families with more than two kids or older kids of different sexes can have a place to sleep. We always find it hard to find a place with three beds for our family and think it gets overlooked at times by landlords, property management and the like.
I'm an event/wedding planner and this would make a beautiful setting for small weddings. Have the wedding in the pasture and the reception in the "barn". Love it!!
I so love the way you walk with God. I was born and raised in North Idaho. Just relocated to Southern Idaho with my husband and toddlers. We live with the inlaws on their 6 acres. Our form of rent is to make their pasture a working gem. You have been a life saver in all the things for our little family. I'm so excited to keep watch your family grow. Thanks for being a kingdom role model 😘
The potential for your new farm/BnB definately warrants high enthusiasm! Even in its retro-state, it is gorgeous! Of course we love the mix of new and old - your vision of the future for this property holds great potential. It’s hard to comprehend how quickly this came into being without Gods help! So we say Amen to that, Congratulations, and wishing you all the best in your endeavours! 😇
Code Designs - I disagree with you concerning that they were able to do this without God's help. He helped them because He made sure that they were able to get the pre-approval for the loan. HE (GOD) also gave them the A-OK via the contractor that they had come in and look at it. If it wasn't for God they would not have been able to get it that quickly.
Love the cherry cupboard/closet. Don't paint out the interesting bits. Maybe paint just the interior for visibility- better option is a battery operated closet light that only turns on when the door is opened.
What a blessing that someone has bought this beautiful farm with a history in the area. Your enthusiasm and love of history is exciting. Many prayers and blessings for you.
Congratulations!! Maybe you could add a tin ceiling in the living room? And speaking as someone who own an historic farmhouse I would definitely refinish those original wood floors!! There may be original wood floors under the linoleum as well.
Being a Washingtonian and knowing What Land is going for, and the rarity of quality land... I can imagine How Much that was... So a Huge Congratulations!!
I bet it was a fortune. I don’t know how people afford these extra places or even a primary farm. We are on two acres and would love a larger property but there is no way we can afford it. My kids have the dream too but with prices the way they are, they won’t be living that dream either. I am glad you were in the position to get things moving so quickly.
It is so sweet that your new place has beautiful memories and personal connections. It is great that it is so close to home. God is with you always because you trust in Him. Congratulations!
Wow Melissa! I am so excited about your new place! How exciting!!!! So completely valid that you are over the moon!!! I'm sure MANY of us want to come stay at your Airbnb/farmbnb!! YAY!!!!!!
I actually love the cabinets just as they are. I think paint would take away the charm. Maybe you can use the ola bathroom window as an announcement board? Build a box around it and put cork board inside to announce upcoming events.
Change and stepping out in faith is always a bit scary, but can also be an exciting adventure. Embrace the journey that God has put before you! I'm happy for y'all!
Your May Day story just gave me serious allergies or I got dust in my eyes or something. ❤️ That little house is so charming, even in its present state. Your plans to update it will make it such a wonderful place for people to stay and it will be nice for the little house to meet so many new people. Your plans for the new farm are very similar to what my husband and I have wanted to do for years. Your ministry is such a blessing and expanding will reach so many more souls! 🙏🏻
Sooo incredibly happy for you. Defo something in the air, God seems to be answering prayers within the homestead community. Love your vision for this place, cannot wait to see everything come into fruition! 🇬🇧🇯🇲
What a gorgeous, historical home. For the windows… you could have them cut down in half and use them as transom windows above the inside doors. That would look really cool, would let more light into the various rooms, and honor the historical feel of the house.
I appreciate your attention to detail. I am an avid Airbnb user, and the ceiling in that room would not concern me at all. You might want to reconsider for now until the income pays for that repair. I agree with the character of a home being important and when I stay at an Airbnb I look for older homes and not restored ones. I am 66 and use these homes to step back in the time of my past. I am staying at an older Airbnb in Mississippi and it is an older home with all older furniture. I choose this home for that reason. I am excited to go thru this with you. Enjoy!
Congratulations Melissa ! When visiting my daughter Danielle, we saw your cute new cottage. You have so much energy, and good ideas. Wishing you God's grace. Good luck !
Years and years ago I would daydream about having acreage for a community farm and learning center. Where people could come and help learn to grow their own food. And then have an on-site restaurant where you could eat food prepared from the garden but more importantly have classes teaching you how to cook with what was grown from the garden. An outside stage for live music and teaching. All centered around the community. A space to gather. To learn. To appreciate. I dont believe I will ever have this dream come true but I say this to say that I understand your excitement on a DEEP level. I think it is wonderful.
I am excited for you. God has definitely blessed you. This is just a great place with so many possibilities. I agree about not painting the kitchen cabinets, they are beautiful!❤️ I love the old farms too. We lived out, rented, years ago when our kids were young. We had a couple of horses, ponies for the kids, chickens, raised a couple of Holstein bull calves for the freezer, dogs and cats. It was great. Living the farm life is a great experience and a blessing from God. My kids have told me many times that they are thankful for the experience of living in the country.. May this be the dream God planned for you! 🙏
I'm so excited just listening to you talk about it!!! What a God-thing! I'd be positively giddy and ecstatic! What I love most is that God clearly orchestrated the sale of this particular property for you guys, specifically, and that you have plans to refresh it, and to preserve the history of the place. May God continue to bless this endeavor! 😍
Congratulations!! I'm so excited to see where you take this property! Thank you for faithfully following where God leads, and sharing this wonderful journey with the world x
We had bought a house built in 1902 4 years ago. we used it as a rental the last four years but tenants did a good amount of damage to it. So we got to reno it and keep as much of the charm from 1902 as possible. we were able to repair the plaster walls and all the wood work but we did have to remodel the bathroom and the kitchen was remodeled when we bought it but there is something about a old home brought back to it's beauty. Our oldest property we own was built in late 1800's we did some cool stuff with repurposing the old doors in the house. This house will be a joy to work on and will bring great joy to all that get to airBnB it from you.
I so relate to your love of the old workmanship. I owned a retired farm where the beams in the barn were huge and all the hardware handforged. The cellar was to die for...oh, I could go on...and the little church nearby was like a time capsule. I'll stop now but you get my drift! I'm so happy for your answer to prayer.
Gorgeous house. What a beautiful plan for the future. I love, love, love old houses, their built-in's, old glass windows, doors and hardware. I pray that Mr and Mrs Hornbeck are smiling on you for bringing life back to their farm. 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻
When God nudges us… or sometimes shoves us 😊… toward growth, it is usually our own fears that hold us back. I am so happy you listened and I am so excited for your continued journey and growth possibilities. You are amazing and capable. Let your heart take it all in. So so happy for you!! ❤️
I have never been so tickled for somebody! I'm so excited for you, I've never seen you so happy and excited lol I'm just grinning ear to ear over your enthusiasm! So happy for you!
This is just another ‘suddenly’ answer to prayer. He rewards those who diligently seek His will. I’m excited for you and will be awaiting each video! Were I younger, I would be clamoring for a reservation!❣️
All those cabinets are built in birch. I have the same kitchen cabinets. They are all one and most likely attached like you wouldn’t believe. This is why I have a dishwasher I have to roll across the floor. Lol. Looks like multiple upgrades in different “era’s”. The 5 panel doors are fabulous. We have them in our 1912 farm home. Congratulations!
Once you have it done, I could even see farm field trips for local school and pumpkin patch, hayrides, learning centers for kids, etc. Just a thought. I'm sooo excited for you! Raise funds that way too.
I think a lot of us are going to need to learn more about how things were done in the so called "good ol days". Thank all of you for doing this, prayers for guidance and strength.
So totally God! Excited for you. I Just moved to a 3 acre property. Never farmed before. Tired sun up to sun down. You've got a lot of work, but oh! A barn!!!! I have barn envy. ;-)
Thank you, Melissa for sharing this amazing story! I love hearing of stories of how God has led others in any huge decision of their lives! I absolutely LOVE retro styled things, as well. God's many blessings to you and your family!
What an exciting new adventure! If you don't have a source already, check out the Slabhaus in Mt Vernon for live edge wood for the mantle. The wood is all harvested locally, some from old homesteads.
Congratulations!!!! God is also Good! You are a testament of patient listening to the Father. I can live out my dreams by watching you. Can't wait until you open your Air B&B. Want some time in the mountains. 💓
We have an airbnb cottage on our 1 acre property in CA, which I manage. Just FYI managing it to maintain "super Host" status can be time consuming. But, I really enjoy hosting and making our cottage garden enjoyable for our guests, since we are retired. Our guests enjoy our flower gardens, vegetable garden, and chickens. Good luck to you. It's going to be lovely!
Congratulations!!!! This is so exciting!!! I could hear and feel your excitement!!!! Isn't GOD awesome to put this in your path? I'm so happy for your family!!!! Many blessings as the plans come together! Thank you Lord!
Consdier putting in some camper pads with electric hook ups. You can rent them out when you're not having seminars and offer them to your seminar people as an alternative to staying off farm at a hotel. Lots of people have campers and would love to overnight during travel or stay a few days on a farm.
Wonderful! You're excitement is adorable...I'm excited for you! I, too, am a lover of old stuff, my husband is 19 years older then me (I'm 57) and I tell him all the time that he is my favorite antique. God Bless!!!
I love your vision. A very beautiful piece of property. Yes it is old but salvageable. Too many people here in North America continue to live in a throw away world. People here tear old homes down to build 10 bedroom mansions. They may only have 1 or 2 kids. As I said I love your vision. When I visited Russia in 1995 I met an old man working on his home. He was probably 70 years old and the home was probably 150 years old but looked like it was built yesterday. Beautiful flowers and a manicured yard space. I pray that you may save many souls from the drudgery of a boring city life. The only way to grow a tomato is to start right now. Good luck in the vision and God Bless. Joe Scott Muddy Dog Ranch
OMG, Melissa !!! I'm SOOO Excited for You !!! I remember when we bought our 1836 farm house back in 1996. I know you are going to have such a Fun Time ...I Love your Excitement of all the Possibilities ! Enjoy the Process and I can't wait to see the Progress ! Love to You ! Patti
This is probably my favorite video you've done. I am so excited for your family and to see all the exciting things you do with it! You brought me so much joy with how happy and excited you are. During the tour I was thinking in the distant future it could be a great place for you and your husband to downsize. The options are endless!!!
I'm teary. Such a gift and opportunity that the Lord opened up for you to see! I'm teary because your story is a testimony of God's provision and care. I think I want land. Is it God's plan for me as I age (already aches / pains that I hope leave), am a single strong woman, with little homesteading experience? Lord guide. Congratulations and praise the Lord for your life story! ❤
I absolutely LOVE your excitement!!!! New adventures. You hold to the hands of God and let him take you 🥰 you're doing amazing things. I'm excited for you!!!! I'm rooting for you.
I can't wait to see this dream come to pass and think you are a perfect fit. What an incredible opportunity and I am so glad you are up for it!! I will definitely come visit someday!
The memory you have of the family that lived there just makes this so special ❤️. Just a thought, since people won't be actually living there, removing the beautiful wardrobe would definitely make a king not feel cramped. So excited for you!
I am so happy for you Melissa! It is so good to hear that God plays a role in your life! You are planting seeds🪴🪴🪴🪴for everyone! This is your calling! I will be praying for you and your family! You , Carolyn and Josh have inspired me in so many ways! Putting God first inspired me so much! God bless you dear!
Soooo happy for you going forward with so many possibilities. If you could bottle your enthusiasm you would have no problem selling it ! Don't let anyone crush your hopes and dreams for this place. Just a half mile from your house how convenient.
Congratulations! You are blessed! And how much do you know about the Hornbecks? That is a Native American name. When we were young we knew a young man whose last name was Hornbeck. So imagine our surprise when our 20 year old grand daughter introduced us to her "boyfriend", whose last name was Hornbeck. But the fact that we knew his grandfather, pretty much blew both of the youngsters away.
💚 Wowza! How fantastic for you to be able to expand, and so near your home-Yay 😁 An Air B'nB and more classroom, etc., space and multiple barns...this is SO exciting. I'm very happy for you and your family and I definitely look forward to visiting this 40 acre Homestead+ 💚
My husband and I almost bought a homestead in the same town a few years ago! At the time, it was close to where we lived, but we've since ended up out of state. I still get painfully homesick for those mountains.
I love that God has looked at your dreams and granted you this space! He loves you so much and I know it's blessing His Heart to see you so excited and doing His work there!
I could feel your joy and excitement as I watched you describe your dream ! As a sister dreamer , I actually cried for your dream coming true.😭💓 . If I EVER get out that way I totally want to visit your farm! God bless you and your family 💓
I am so excited and know it will be a wonderful journey. I live on the Olympic Peninsula and have been watching you for a few years. Happy to have a learning center closer to home than traveling too far..God bless you in your endeavors!
What a blessing!! Omg my heart!! This is exactly what my heart desires!! 😍 One day!! 🥰 Maybe do a short term rental (6 months) or airbnb it, as is or simple cosmetic updates, save the money and then use those funds to renovate?? Just an idea. Congrats!!! I LOVE the house!!
How exciting!! Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you and for the farm that will be well loved!! Can't wait to see the restoration and find out more about the Airbnb house, and the hands on training you will get to offer in the future! You might want to consider offering a "working" vacation during times of the year when you'd have time to teach people that don't know much about gardening/farming so they could have an experience they'd never forget!
Such a beautiful place! My Big Mom and Ken (what we called our grandpa) had doors and hardware like that in their house, LOVE! Thank you for sharing! So happy for you and your family! May God bless your new adventure!

I absolutely took a moment to appreciate those doors and original hardware too!! May God continue to bless y'all and shine His light on y'all! ❤️
Love it!!
I am not fully religious, or none religious. But, when stuff like this happens, it's sure gets you thinking. So happy for you 💓
OMG how exciting! We will come and stay at your fabulous B&B!! Please take us along as you renovate!
What a sweet memory of Mrs. Hornbeck! Congratulations!🎈🎉🍾
Fabulous new addition to the vision given from our Heavenly Fathers Love… Never loose sight in the process of the Blessing Congratulations
Please, please. Don't paint the cherry cupboard. I love wood.
@@loufeather8326 there are a lot of scratches you don't see on the lighting from this video and the inside of the cupboard is just ply-wood.
all you would have to do is sand it and revarnish
Code Designs - I disagree with you concerning that they were able to do this without God's help. He helped them because He made sure that they were able to get the pre-approval for the loan. HE (GOD) also gave them the A-OK via the contractor that they had come in and look at it.
If it wasn't for God they would not have been able to get it that quickly.
Love the cherry cupboard/closet. Don't paint out the interesting bits. Maybe paint just the interior for visibility- better option is a battery operated closet light that only turns on when the door is opened.

Love the wood paneling in the living room. AirBNB to hold 40 acres of land, priceless:)
That little house is so charming, even in its present state. That story got my allergies going too!
Ahh thank you ❤️
The Hornbecks were the nicest couple, I'm sure they would be thrilled that you bought it! So happy for you!
Congratulations..🙏💖
Sooo incredibly happy for you. Defo something in the air, God seems to be answering prayers within the homestead community. Love your vision for this place, cannot wait to see everything come into fruition! 🇬🇧🇯🇲
I was thinking the exact same thing!
The shelves on either side by the kitchen window and the built ins are awesome!!!
What a gorgeous, historical home. For the windows… you could have them cut down in half and use them as transom windows above the inside doors. That would look really cool, would let more light into the various rooms, and honor the historical feel of the house.

Is it God's plan for me as I age (already aches / pains that I hope leave), am a single strong woman, with little homesteading experience? Lord guide. Congratulations and praise the Lord for your life story! ❤
Congrats Melissa! Sounds like it was meant to be. It’s beautiful and full of possibility.
Our family just did a farm stay and absolutely loved it.
The memory you have of the family that lived there just makes this so special ❤️.
Just a thought, since people won't be actually living there, removing the beautiful wardrobe would definitely make a king not feel cramped. So excited for you!
Noooop!
So happy for you. Congratulations!
It's a blessing. God will continue to guide you for the next step. I may visit from Seattle in the future. I love farmers.
Love the farmhouse and the cozy wood paneling. I hope you keep it!
Congratulations! I love the kitchen cabinets, and the real wood paneling in the living room of the new farm house.
Wow! Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing the renovations! Very exciting .
So excited for you...and the doors. Every old door needs someone to love it. ;)
I am so happy for you guys! Your vision is possible now! God provides!
Congratulations on your new property Melissa! I’m so happy for you! 🥳
I love that God has looked at your dreams and granted you this space! He loves you so much and I know it's blessing His Heart to see you so excited and doing His work there!
Love the enthusiasm when you buy a new/old farmstead. Vision!
I LOVED watching this when it first posted, but sure am enjoying this again! Thank you!
We were excited that it went up for sale and knew it would sell quick. Im so glad you got it!!
Sounds like my perfect vacation home! What a fun property!
Just found this and would LOVE to follow your progress! What a fabulous opportunity for your family! ❤😊🙏🇺🇲
So excited for you and for all your plans!
Love it! So many possibilities! Congratulations!!
