When I saw Jethro Tull in the early 80's I was completely unaware of the opening act and like most shows your usually eager to get to the headliner. Well, unknown to me before hand, the opening act was "SAGA" and they blew my mind. They were fantastic and I couldn't have seen them at a better time in their career. I'd have to look it up to be positive but I'm pretty certain it was the "Heads or Tales" tour. The album right after "Worlds Apart" which this song is on. Incidentally they to this day are still my 2 favorite SAGA albums. But wow, being a guitar player Ian Crichton got my attention immediately. He's technically amazing and sounds incredible. I'm still amazed he doesn't get a lot more attention than he does? But I became an instant fan of both Ian and SAGA . Michael Saddler is a charismatic energetic front man with a great voice and multi talented. He plays bass, keyboard and percussion and probably about anything else he desires I suppose? But SAGA is such a great band. It's great that they're still going strong too. They were going to stop a few years back and not sure what happened but happily they're still around. Great to see you on here doing this. Great song off a great album. Am I saying "great" too much? LoL 🤣 sorry it really is a relevant word for this GREAT BAND keep on rocking my friend ☮️
I wanted to pass long how valuable this lesson is. I've been working on it for my own cover, but some parts were driving me absolutely nuts. Brilliantly written and technically mastered. Very thankful you took the time to break this down so well for everyone. Great job and thanks for sharing to all.
I grew up here in Alabama and was/am a HUGE Saga fan! I got the chance to see them open for Heart way back in the day and they were awesome! So glad to see someone giving them the respect they deserve! Thanks for this video!
This song blew my mind when I first listened to it in 1982. I was 14 then. The 80s was the best modern rock music in existence. Journey, Styx and Loverboy
I always liked this song and wanted to learn to play it. I had the opportunity to see them live in Chattanooga when the song was still relatively new, and my eyes were glued to the guitar player. Now I shall learn the song correctly. Thank you for doing this song.
Great tune and lesson Kelly Dean! has a great heavy beat and solo that moves along. I love those great sustaining D and E chord strums after the solo too!
When I was 13 or 14 I bought their live album In Transit with Carful where you step, Don't be late, etc, I loved their music mixing synth and guitar and all the palm-muted parts (I had no idea what it was at the time as I didn't play guitar at all).
Great tutorial for this excellent classic song! This one helped a lot. Only thing I would add is that the first half of the third verse doesn't have the chugs. He holds out chords the first half of the third verse and then returns to the chugs for the second half of the verse.
Just sitting here with a cup of Joe working on my picking technique and was wondering if you could share with us proper technique in alternate and economic picking? Much appreciated.
Great tutorial!! How bout either "Sunglasses at night" by Corey Hart, or "Beat so lonely" by Charlie Sexton? Totally enjoying your video's, keep rockin!
Oh interesting, I did not know that they were not as popular as over here (Ger) … there was no party back in the day (I am 55) without Saga being spinned or not being on the mix tape (cassette). Thanks for this reminder 😊
love the Canadian stuff bro.....theres sooo much to be heard.........id love to hear some David Wilcox.....please please ....nobody plays his stuff....
regarding the riff at 9 mins, it sounds as Ian is going all the way down to B flat, it just doesn't sound right stopping at C with double picks, but i'm not 100% sure
Right there with you "old guys" 😂 but like you said and I've always said I couldn't have grown up at a better time for music and will be forever grateful for that!
HAAA! ANOTHER ONE OF my favorites from BITD, we had a solid group of semi obscure bands from that time eh?..Well Done KDA!! Shit man at this rate yr gunna end up getting to all of these bitchen songs from back when that I always loved and wanted to learn... then forgot..... 🤘🤘🤘
Once again. You make it look so easy. Love your lessons.

One of my favorite songs from that era
I grew up in Syracuse NY. Graduated in 84. These guys were big there then. I had forgotten all about them til now
Loved these guys!
Just watched your cover and it kicked ass!
So glad you're the one doing the tutorial on this one.
Love this track! And hard to play but so much fun and creative..thanks for this!
one of the most underrated bands ever.!!. I've got all their albums.. and they are nothing but world class musicians!
indeed, Worlds Apart is the best rock album of all time, or maybe second only to Pink Floyd Time
This song blew my mind when I first listened to it in 1982. I was 14 then. The 80s was the best modern rock music in existence. Journey, Styx and Loverboy
Wow, I had forgotten about this banger, thanks for the reminder! Great song, and as usual, an awesome lesson.
They have always been HUGE here in Puerto Rico. One of my fave bands. Awesome tutorial!! Owner of a nice vinyl collection of them. Thanks Kelly!!!
That's true. Alfa rock 106 fm would play this song all tje time .
Agree with you and the other people commenting 100% I'm just glad I got to see him live good job hitting those licks

It’s not Saega-
It’s SAGA
Boy is my face red! I heard this on the radio a few times and always thought it was Gowan. Hey, I don't get on the grid too much. Know I know. Thanks.
I forgot how much I love that solo - thanks for sharing this !!

Yessss! I still have this album!

saw them open up for tull in providence sometime way back in the eighties...

Outstanding! I was hoping that you were going to do a lesson on this tune after your earlier post.
Oh interesting, I did not know that they were not as popular as over here (Ger) … there was no party back in the day (I am 55) without Saga being spinned or not being on the mix tape (cassette). Thanks for this reminder 😊
I saw Saga years ago, they opened for Triumph
Damn! That had to be a Hell of a concert!
Before they were called Saga they were known as pockets. Two keyboard players from what I remember, saw them many times at the gasworks in Toronto.
Played Gasworks myself back in the day.
Really? What band if you don’t mind me asking?

Dang I'm old...
Me too😂
@@timothy5974 :) I don't feel bad though, We had the BEST music to grow up on. STILL better than today's crap lol.
Right there with you "old guys" 😂 but like you said and I've always said I couldn't have grown up at a better time for music and will be forever grateful for that!
the penultimate note of the repeated lick from 9:00 is wrong, should be a halftone higher - thx anyway
the way you pronounce their name makes me think you've never heard of them lol
Show the intro dude.....
There's no guitar at the intro. All synth. Watch them live. He doesn't play.
