If there is a torque specification for a fastener...USE IT! There is a few reasons for the torque spec, i.e. metal distortion, or loosening off.
Tom I'm always after my son and his work truck looking a mess. So I shouldn't feel so bad !
Nice of you to show the maintenance done on your vehicles.
Normally unorganized truck, unorganized craftsman....
You totally debunk that one!! Your workmanship is top notch.
Thanks for the nice video Tom
I like how you are very thorough with your maintenance , maybe it should rub off on cleaning in the cab, just kidding. Great video.
There is a RUclips video that is supposed to show how to remove plastic interior automobile door lock trim.
The guy shows where to insert a screwdriver and pry.
He then prys and breaks the trim.
Tom on your truck brakes instead of using the old brake shoe and C clamp i saw my mechanic using a prybar prior to tearing anything apart he stuck the prybar down in the holes on top of the caliper and being that everything is still together its held in place real tight and you can push the pistons back into the caliper just a little helpful tip good luck with that pesky door
You work hard, after work you need to relax and enjoy your family. Clean the truck during your shutdown. Works for me!
Tom, that inverter wire looks it's long enough to go under the air cleaner tube and kind behind the filter. Just what I thought I saw. Hope it helps. Love Videos.
Mr Tom, theres not a person alive that can accuse you of being an idiot.
If we don’t get our hands dirty doing something new, it’s almost impossible to learn how to do it right. I learn some tricks that you show.
Steve is a lucky man 😂
Thank you for another shop maintenance video.
With a million things on my mind and always moving the fast as I can is how my truck gets that way.
Thanks again, Sir
👍
Cleaning out your truck. Like Christmas all over again. It's good that you can laugh at yourself.
I love to see a house being built with the words on the Tyvek right side up !
Always use a silicon grease on the slider pins not a ceramic grease.
Tom you are such a great person. Smart and honest most people would hide the real world.
Thank you very much
I have watched you for a couple years a least. I can only remember couple break downs. You do great job on maintenance
Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
Until I started torquing wheel studs/lug nuts I had annoying pulsing in the brake pedal: using a torque wrench cured that. Didn’t matter car make; if I have a flat on a trip, I just live with the pulse till I get the tire fixed.
I love to see caterpillar equipment the king of the brand for America !
Hi Tom one of my rules is when I replace the rotors and pads I also change the brake fluid as it also brakes down 🇦🇺
That does make sense
Listen Mr. Money bags. I've heard of putting money in your mattress but you stuff checks in your truck seats... hmmmmm. I must be in wrong business. LOL HA HA. Love the channel.. Hope you enjoyed Vegas...
Good one Vegas was fun
Tom you make me laugh, 😀always enjoy your videos!
Thank you for watching!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who forgets all those new gloves. But I also use my gloves until they ate well worn! Great video Tom!
Really enjoy your “down time “ projects Tom. Glad to see you got a bump in your subscriber number too 👍
Enjoy the video Tom.
Thank you very much.
60K Subs!! Steady…Methodical…Interesting…Authentic!
Great video Tom. Thank you for doing these. House is coming along nicely. Great advice for relationships: "pick your battles".
Have you figured out how much you save doing maintenance and repairs on your trucks, heavy equipment and smaller power machines? Just the off season truck maintenance saves a ton. Diesel shops are super expensive.
Guessing about $500 per vehicle or machine
@Concretewiththehauses that adds up in a hurry, but I bet you're low.
Loving the maintenance videos! Would love to see how you do maintenance on your dump trucks. I don't remember seeing you film one of them yet.
I'm 72 years old and back when I was a kid my Dad had bought a brand new 1955 Mercury and later on he had it raised up on jack stands doing a brake job on it. I was outside with him when a police car pulled into our driveway. The cop comes up to my Dad and says this car had been used in a holdup. My Dad i kinda doubt it since it has been up on the jack stands for a few days. I remember that like it was yesterday. The cop walked around the car and then left and that was the end of that.
Maybe Mr Morgan will watch your videos and learn how to get things done! It would drive me nuts to have 25 projects going and not one finished..
It means that you are doing NOTHING
Typical work truck ,always putting things away and forgetting about them when you are busy on the job. Thanks for sharing !!
Mr Haus i would be going crazy fabricating in that shop. I have so many crazy wonderful ideas that I don't see other folks doing. I feel like at 53 that's the direction id like to focus on.
I’m not a fan of OSB. I use plywood or cut my own siding out of my trees. I like the old ways for myself. I understand how expensive things are along with labor costs. 😊
GOOOOOD
MAAAAAAAAWNIN EVERYONE!!…
Tom, cleaning out your truck is like a second Christmas! I appreciate your videos, thank you
On the filter comparison, Have you heard the saying “close is for horseshoes and hang-grenades”. Everything else has to perfect. 😁
I appreciate your due diligence maintaining your equipment. Something very satisfying when you do it yourself.
Thanks Tom, the garage videos are always cool.
Tom, I subscribed to your channel from being an Outdoors with the Morgan's fan and Mike told me to subscribe. I must say I love the fact that you're mixing it up a little on the content.
It's not that I'm sick of concrete, but something different is very refreshing! Good luck to you and your family in the future...J/C
Thank you very much for watching!
Tom I hope you didn't use grease on those sliding caliper pins. That will wreck the boot and you'll have all kind of trouble. Have to use Sil Glyde. It will not deteriorate that rubber boot. Grease has petroleum in it that eats rubber.
I appreciate the concrete videos but I love the shop videos
Doing equipment maintenance in your downtime will save you money with breakdowns in the busy season. Look at it like you are paying yourself the $200/hr shop rate if you had a dealer do it
That's a great way to look at it.
Tom you should repack the wheel bearings I understand it's 4x4 but it still should be done 😮
Love this concrete channel! Honest, humble hardworking man.
I think that was all water on that last fuel filter change, i heard to change them all out every other oil change. I do every 3rd oil change. Seems crazy but thats what my ford service guy told me and he's a personal friend
It’s always a real good idea to put a torque wrench on anything to do with wheels on your rigs. Everything should be evenly torqued. I’ve seen the aftermath of not doing this.
At least he didn't roll it over. 😅😂
One of the worse problems I have is getting things put back where it belongs. I’ve bought many things 2 or 3 times over just because I couldn’t find where I put it last. I’m really working at putting things away when I’m done for the day in my shop. Key words “working at”. 🙄
I’m trying too, it’s a tough one.
I'll tell you what are you doing wrong Mr. Haus, you don't have a pit in your shop. You need a new building with a pit to do all your maintenance. 😊 Thanks for the video.
A bigger shop would be nice
Tom get yourself a 2 gallon bucket and keep your clean gloves in that makes it simple…..🇺🇸👊🏼👊🏼✌🏼
Hey Tom be careful if you purchase a new vehicle. I pulled the trans out of my 2011 truck and had it rebuilt. I found out after you can’t do that on a new truck because the dealer has to reprogram the transmission. My son was going to do a brake job on his new SUV and found out he couldn’t because the computer would lock out when the calipers were compressed. Some new cars you can’t even replace the battery without the dealer reprogramming the charge rate in the computer. I enjoy doing my own work so I may never buy another new vehicle.😊
Yes, experience is the best teacher. Hands on will create the expert. I changed brakes on my Plymouth Sport Fury once, and again on an Oldsmobile wagon we had. I also changed front cv joints once. Of course, when replacing the drivers side, I bumped something and the bearings all fell out onto the dirt. That took me hours to do - never again. I don't do any repairs now. I'm much happier paying someone else. It's really neat watching the builds of Tommy's and Steven's homes. The one unique thing I remember, and will always remember, is the basement steps on Tommy's house. Y'all made those out of concrete, but very one of a kind. There's no other steps like his anywhere on earth. I thank y'all for sharing these builds. Again, we can see how much extra trouble it is to have to work with one hand because you're holding us in the other hand -- thank you. Finding the new stuff behind your seat, we all do that. Donna will probably have something to say about the check though. We have 60 degrees coming back this week, yay!! I'm ready for Spring. I've been watching a lot of Trump's promises getting fulfilled. I loved his inauguration, when he said he would be restoring common sense back to the government, while bobobiden and Kamala sat behind him emotionless as he called them out as idiots. So far I like what I see. He has not mentioned the new law implemented giving our military the legal right to shoot American citizens on American soil. I hope he does away with that change. Thanks Tom for today's video. As always - good stuff!!
Like the ball bearing, so I’m always dropping a nut boat looking for it. i’m sure Steve will come up with some neat things at his house as well. Looking forward to it.
Tom, enjoy your content, but would like to point out in today's video, that when pushing all of the fluid out of the calipers (especially when they're turned upside down) has the ability to force any contaminates back with the fluid into the master cylinder and possibly the anti-lock system as well. It's always better to open the bleeder and release the fluid into a catch pan.
(I hope you're never in a collision, that involves any kind of issues with the wheels or braking system, due to your having divulged information that could be used against you before the judge, should you ever have to go into a trial involving such circumstances.)
I never thought of that that does make perfect sense. I really appreciate you pointing thatout.
Can’t keep track of days. Wait till you retire. 😊 I can’t keep track of time or days since I retired in 2020. I like it until I have to keep track of appointments. 😏
So True! I too retired in 2020. Appts Drive me Crazy!
Would love to build my own home oneday... 🏡 ❤
Your wife will give you hell about the check. I Think you at least should have put new shocks on the front. 2017 they do wear out.
Making money on the maintenance lol
👋🏼
❤💯🙏
Hey Tom I know you’re proud of Steve but you’re stealing his thunder. He explains his home building better than you. You’re a day late and a dollar short.
I’m letting Steve do that. I’m just touching on a couple things.
I appreciate your perspective as well. Keep doing it@@Concretewiththehauses
He's stealing nothing.... Get a life
