Not really. Vought is the true villain in this story, Homelander is just the most powerful of the monsters they intentionally created, if they make a worse monster then redeeming Homelander is not even that hard.
@@TriplebrcI'm gonna go out ona limb and say you don't even know what the word "redemption" means. It quite literally would go against the whole show.
Hughie's mom doesn't work AT Vought any more than any MLM reseller works at the company. She works FOR them. I think she walked up before she actually spoke and saw the V before he put it in his pocket. V is common knowledge nowadays so could guess what it was. When she went to hug him and he pulled away she realized that he'll never love her like he does his dad and took the opportunity to save the dad's life for Hughie. Hughie had taken off his jacket and left it in the room when he went out so it was easy for her to get to.
@DrewMack-oj3lh I’m not excusing him: more so just thinking Antony Starr’s acting is incredible enough to make me feel any kind of sympathy for his character. He was basically turned into a monster by what they did to him. Might have turned out completely different otherwise. Who knows…
Ngl after seeing this scene, I can honestly say wholeheartly that Homelander actually earned one of the top 10 spots of greatest villians in the history of television. I told the community that even by The Boys standards, this season will be the darkest one yet and this episode exceeded the expectations by an landslide. Mans had to literally channel his inner crazy Joker to get one of the most twisted, psychotic laughs I ever heard in television. Definitely on par with Ledger's, Phoenix's and Monaghan's own style. Best episode of the Boys yet. The only time I felt chills and such utter tension with this type of crazy in Tv was when Joker told Batman the real plan of Harvey Dent back in TDK and when Walter did an hit and run on two childkillers then shot one of them in the head with no hesitation. Honestly, The Emmys are really moving the goalpost if they don't give Antony Starr the acknowledgement he deserves for playing Homelander. I for one, from Day 1 hated Homelander and I still stand on that along with the rest of the supes and I hope in the end, Butcher goes full Eren Yeager on them but even with that and with all the shit he's done, I still couldn't help but empathize with him regarding how Vought treated him. Vought is the real enemy of The Boys including the man who stood his ground to an psychopath with powers and lived, Stan Edgar. No wonder he become the man we all know him as becuase they made an monster. Even when he said that not one of the scientists stood up to Vought and said that this is wrong, I think in a sense, even with what they did, he was self-consicous with that though of wanting love and compassion and instead of showing that side of what being human means to a kid no less, instead Vought exploited that weakness to control him to be obedient and him realizing that makes me more of a threat. In other words, let the ultimate crashout event begin..... After this ep, Homelander is forever GOATED as one of the best villains of all time. And I hope I see more of Antony in other works of media as well cuz he is a master of acting.
Hughie left his outer jacket that had the V in it in the room when he went to get the coffees. More specifically, he takes the outer jacket off after his mom walks on in him deciding not to use the V. She goes to hug him, and he freaks out and leaves the room and his jacket behind. My theory is that she was standing behind him longer than we the audience saw, and made the decision to use the ish when he then left it behind. Whether she's a plant doing it on Vaught's behalf or just trying to win her son back in a crazy way remains to be seen. I do think she intentionally went for a hug to get him out of the room for a bit, though.
Hugh put the Compound V into his jacket pocket then he left the room for a moment. Makes sense his Mom, Daphne lifted it and gave it to Hughie Campbell Sr. before he came back into the room, Blake, Cojo, Corey, and Igli.
The firecracker scene of her being with a 16 yo and the religious forgiven her. Is such a real issue. Glad the boys is bringing light to that. She know, if she hides behind Christ. The sheep will fallow and she dodges accountability. SMH
When I saw Hughie's dad in the hospital, I thought about Compound V right away. It got me excited as Hell given that Simon Pegg is essentially Hughie in the comics. So him joining the group would be awesome. But what if his powers is to eat human flesh to prevent him to die? Like a zombie. In a nice nod to Shaun of the Dead. And Hughie has to kill him like Simon did in Shaun to his mom.
Theory: Hughies mom works for home lander to create more sups. Homelander wants more sups so they can rule. His mom could work for Voughtality in order to keep sups around. She knows how to successfully use temp V and turn humans. Could potentially help keep butcher alive as well.
Fun / crazy theory : what if Hughie's mom is actually Homelander's mom too? She agreed to be a surrogate then tried to live a normal life with a husband and son. She left Hughie and his dad because Vought introduce Homelander for the first time to the public and then she freaked out.
@@VanessassaryEvil i mean vought lied about how ryan born too. But after watching the "sentimental" scene with Hughie and his mom on why she left again... She said she had Hughie when she was 22 which pretty much dismantling my theory about her being homelander's mom. Because i think the age difference between homelander and hughie is pretty huge. Hughie probably on his mid 20s and homelander on his late 30s or early 40s. And homelander become "homelander" when he was 16 and the mom left hughie when hughie was 6. The numbers definitely off.
Hughie’s mum took the temp V from his pocket she didn’t have any herself i don’t think, she’s definitely up to something suspicious because she would have had to look through his things but I don’t think she had any V to give him. Home lander isn’t on a path to redemption the point that Barbra was making is that from Hollanders birth he was destructive so it was a necessity for them to install a human need for love and validation otherwise he would just be a complete psychopath even moroe so than he already is so home lander will alway need validation, the point that homlander makes back to here is that even though he knows deep down he cant change that for himself, none of these things have been applied to Ryan yet witch is why home lander wants to mould him so badly in his perfect image and keep everyone away from him, whilst at the same time is so jealous. Also fire cracker is literally an amalgamation of two real life people in far right politics so the real world is crazier than you think Blake.
She didn’t just comment on what happened when he was a baby she spoke about that and then said from then on, if you know the comics and what they include in the show as canon homlander has been psychotic and killed people his whole life so vought instilling neediness in him was a necessity.
Hughies mom has to be a supe. She works with all this "healing medicine" at Vought. She probably has some healing powers that can conjure up Compound V or something. I don't see how she could of slipped out that V from hughies jacket or get into Homelanders room.
Hughie left his outer jacket with the compound V in the room when he went to get coffee, leaving her in the room with it for several minutes lol. Compound V is common knowledge at this point so I don’t think it’s a stretch that she would see him holding it, see him stash it back in his pocket, see him take off his jacket, and then think to go through with what he couldn’t.
Every reactor I've seen so far assumes that Butcher is sick and will die. I think he's healed since he took the right V. He just thinks that the V hasn't changed anything. However, everything he has felt since then is a consequence of the right V. This parasite that lives in him is his V-superpower. Kind of Venom. Parasates feed on their host. That's why Butcher feels weak and sick. Besides, I think Becca and JDM's character are both not just his pure imagination, but the parasite who talks to him. Another possibility is that Butcher is still sick, but the parasite ultimately keeps him alive. Of course, Becca and JDM can both be conceited. Just his conscience. Becca the angel and JDM the devil on his shoulder. No matter what it looks like at the moment, I think Sage has a huge master plan at the end of which there is the destruction of Vaught and of course Homelander. She wants to take revenge on Vaught for having to live like this. It is not a nice life to be the most intelligent person. To be absolutely isolated and to have to give yourself these lobotomies. She already has power in Vaught. She is now CEO, head of security and marketing. She takes over the place and no one notices. She also wants Homelander gone. I don't know the exact motive yet, but especially the Caesar comparison suggests that she wants to destroy Homelander. As everyone should know, Caesar was stabbed several times in the back by his confidants and died. Hughie's mother has taken the V out of his jacket. Before Hughie left the room, he took off his jacket and laid it over the chair.
Of all the people homelander killed those are the only group of people i feel absolutely no empathy, for…they happily torture homelander for years, and basically created a fucking monster(don’t get me wrong Homelander is still responsible for all of his bad actions, but the people working at this lab definitely had a big part on why he’s that way)The guy said “I was just doing my job“ but his job was still torturing & mistreating a kid, and like homelander said nobody stopped and said that what they were doing was wrong. All of them were OK with what they were doing until he came back for revenge. And now that I’m thinking about it I’m surprised that none of them were expecting this… like the second Homelander left the lab all of them should’ve ran and hide because if I was them, I would fully expect him to come back and kill me for what I did.
