2019 Dual Boot WINDOWS and KALI LINUX Easily STEP BY STEP GUIDE

- How to install kali linux 2019 dual boot with windows 10, 8, & 7 in UEFI Boot Mode using bootable USB Pen-Drive, complete & step by step guide.
I have done this on multiple devices so I decided to make a video about it because all of the guides I have followed in the past were missing steps.
This was done on my backup laptop. Please excuse the damaged screen and windows 7
**Please make sure when starting Rufus to select the DD option instead of the ISO option as I emphasized in the video**

follow these steps:
1. Create bootable usb & write image in dd mode
2.Turn off computer and instert USB
3. Enter boot menu by pressing your computers specific key (mine was esc)
4.Select boot from usb
5.Run Kali installer (not live mode)
6. Fill in necessary information
7. It is easiest to choose the guided setup for partitioning or you can do this manually
8. Now, it will ask us how to use those free space. Select the option “Automatically partition the free space” and “Continue” the process.
9.Next, choose the option “All files in one partition” that is recommended for new users and press “Continue”.
10. Finally select the option “Finish partitioning and write changes to disk“.
11.Here, it will ask permission to write changes in disk. Choose “Yes” and “Continue”.
12. You can either set up a network mirror or choose to select no and do this later.
13.Next, it will ask for installing GRUB boot loader, choose “Yes” and “Continue”.
14. Choose the hard drive when asked where to install GRUB
Congrats you are now set up!!! Eject the usb drive and restart the system.
[common boot setup & boot menu keys = Esc, F1, F2, F8, F9, F10, F11, F12 & Del]

Your instructions as given cause most systems to overwrite SDA, the first drive detected in your system. Unless they have correctly listed the drive order in BIOS, most will find themselves booting from hard disk 1 after it tries and sees no USB, no CDROM. in your example you were using a USB to boot from, so it detected the USB as SDA, the next time it boots the USB won't be there, so it will find the hard disk first. you need to pull this video and redo it explaining these finer points. Read your viewer comments!! Everyone is complaining about overwriting their windows.

It maybe because you've installed Kali on Secure boot. Turn it off... It would work

Hello, I had a problem with "Bootstrap error - Failed to determine code name for the release"
Solved it like this:
Press esc to enter the menu of the installer.
Select Enter a shell (or command prompt)
Run fdisk -l to find out the name and partition of your USB install drive
Run mount /dev/sdc1 /cdrom (replace sdc1 with your USB drive)
Run exit, then go back to Install the base system from the menu
Enjoy your KALI Linux :)

If downloaded to the same drive yes, and no. if you boot it using power ISO etc then yes, but if you just download it no.
I've been trying this for the last 4 days with no success. For some reason, Kali can't read any of my HDD's for the install.

@Toni slc ig you dont have the space for kali linux it could. as long as you have atleast 20 mb of extra space.

I've been trying to make my laptop dual boot with kali for a few days and literally nothing works. The grub gui never comes up. I've tried everything.
So use entire disk that literally says its gonna delete everything so i dont want that because my laptop has only one hard drive and i had to use the manual option

I simply had to get an older version of rufus :)
I have followed all the steps and install kali successfully but my laptop boot directly to Kali Linux.. I'm not getting the option to select the OS of my choice... Please help

This tutorial is great, but I have just one question: why guided and not manual? Please, don't get me wrong... I have tried to install kali 3 time, but using manual, as seen in so many videos. This is the first one that uses guided for creating a dual boot system. Is this the key I am missing to successfully install kali? Thank you!

I do all the steps correctly but it never asks me to install grub loader it just installs itself apparently. But when the setup is done i remove my usb , it reboots but its not on my hard drive

Bro I'm having this problem..i have installed it. And when the grub option comes up after restarting,i get 3 options.
1.kali gnu/linux
2.advanced options for kali gnu/linux
3.system setup.
When i select option i get can't find fwsetup command....
Furthermore,if i select kali linux i get "kali GNU/linux rolling kali tty1.
Moreover, I'm having problem with " apt-get update" it shows
"E:Could not open lock file /var/lib/apt/list/lock -open(13:permission denied)

Go to kali docs from firefox then to source repositories and then follow the instructions given there

will this work on kali linux 2019.1 + win10 uefi ? even if u selected MBR on partition scheme, coz i have GPT
Then u should choose GPT instead of MBR

@@lawrencegarcia9034 MBR style should work fine if u just need 4 partitions while GPT style can be up to 128 partitions. Of course you can create Extended Partitions on MBR Disk. On MBR disk the partitioning & boot data usualy is stored in 1 place. If your data is corrupted or somehow overwritten, then u r in trouble. MBR has NO way of knowing if your data is corrupted until u face a failed booting process or disappearance of your driver's partitions. But again that's just an advice why I think GPT should be a choice here.

if you're booting into live mode , username should be " root " and password should be " toor " . Otherwise , install it again and set your own username and password
