  • My Samsung T200 Syncmaster (works as well for T220, T240 etc) broke. It only had the main light in the corner blinking. I googled and got basically "Power supply is kaputt ..." as an answer.
    So here is how to open an Samsung Syncmaster T200 and how to replace the broken condensators.
    Costs you around 1-2 bucks (euros or dollars) and an hour of your time.

      @@Commandelicious Some people have said that there's a chance that rather than popped capacitors, it might be the backlight that's problematic as the wire connectors can get burnt off the backlight. Might be worth investigating! Thank you for the video!

    2:28 - _"They do that because it's easy to assemble, it's annoying to repair this thing from the case..."_
    And that when I knew, this was gonna be a fun project...
    Replaced two bulging 16V 1000uF caps (c113, c116 I think) with some large 50V 1200uF caps I had lying around from another electronics project... Wasn't easy to squeeze those larger caps inside of it, but it's working again. The new caps I put in are also rated up to 125°C, instead of 105°C for those older caps. Hope it extends their life a bit longer.
    People that are in a cold room can potentially identify the issue without even opening up the display. Blow a hot hairdryer on the back of the monitor for 5 to 15 minutes, if it turns on the caps are most likely the issue. The caps optimal working temperature are typically around 25°C, colder or higher temperatures are an disadvantage and could worsen the problem. I heated the monitor almost every morning for the past 3 to 4 months, before replacing those caps :-/ . However, this trick doesn't work every time, so keep that in mind.
    Thanks for guiding me trough the madness of today's plastic case frustration. I'm 30 and am jealous of my dad's old equipment that's put together using bolds and screws, instead of clips and glue.

    Hi, i'm currently following your video since i have T220 (normal, not HD version) that was flickering a lot, and then one of the capacitors (or more than one) died and cannot hold the backlight on. I'll post the procedure here since i can't record it.
    To remove the stand, you don't need to press it, just put your monitor on a flat soft surface (for example bed), then turn it upside down (be careful, first put your monitor on the bed in a normal position since the stand might slide out because nothing is holding it) , then unscrew the stand, remove it, and after that the vertical part should slide out (mine didn't but you can hold the frame and pull the vertical part out while holding the frame, it went out easily that way).

    • @lanikor
      @lanikor 6 лет назад +1

      Conclusion: 1 bad capacitor. Electrolytic capacitors inside T220 are more or less really cheap.
      To replace all of them you'll need:
      4x 820uF 25V 105*C
      2x 1000uF 16V 105*C
      1x 330uF 10V 105*C
      1x 100uF 16V 105*C
      1x 47uF 50V 105*C
      1x 3,3uF 50V 105*C
      uF - micro Farad.
      It shouldn't cost more than 5 euros, at least in Serbia it costs around 3.5 euros + shipping/delivery (postal expenses).
      Almost forgot, the big capacitator is 450V/100uF as i've seen from the internet since it doesn't say on mine, it costs around 8 euros but i doubt that one is/was the issue anyway.

    Well, my problem is this. I have dual monitor set up, but I use T220 occasionally (it is not on all the time). So, when I turn on the T220, I just see power light blinking and some sound like whistling (stop and start) and maybe after 5 - 10 minutes, the whistling is gone, the power button is solid red (no more blinking) and there is picture. It happens every time. Do you think it is related to condensators? So, essentially I need to replace 4 condensators (2 of one kind and 2 of another kind that you mentioned)?

    • @Commandelicious
      @Commandelicious  3 года назад

      Yes it is. Like, most probably it is. It happens to many many power supplies in all kinds of electronics.
      So it can be that it works when it's a bit heated up :)

      That could be the capaciators as well.
      I am not entirely sure what you mean by dimming white screen.
      In my experience the only thing that actually breaks in modern flatscreen tech is the power source.
