Checked oil before working on this. Almost no oil. Added two quarts of oil. Error code went away. Investigated and the VVT filter cover was leaking oil around the gasket. I guess it's had a very slow leak? Can't figure out why I never got a low oil error.

Not sure if this applies to the honda VTEC cam sprocket like it does the Kia's, but just to think about when anyones diagnosing their car, if your sprockets bad, you'll almost always have a timing correlation code. Helps if you have a scanner that can read live data, check actual and desired cam position, then you know you either skipped a tooth/stretched a belt or have a bad sprocket.

I had a P2647 code in my 04 Accord 4cyl a few years ago. Brought it to my mechanic, who replaced the VTEC spool valve. Ever since that replacement, I've gotten a P1009 code (along with a rough idle) every couple of months. I clear the code and then the car drives perfect for thousands of miles, until the next time the P1009 code comes back unpredictably. Any idea what the problem might be?

Ive gotten this code twice , both times when Im taking some long curves hard and fast... i will clear the code and it wont come back till i do it again. I take pretty good care of her (05' 2.4L) but i have not checked the V tec .

@@HyperrFN I did a fresh oil change, made sure it is to the full line, took a few hard and fast turns , and the code has not returned.
