  • Ven Candā starts this guided meditation with a gentle body scan to infuse the body with mindfulness and kindness, then encourages the meditator to reflect on the parts of the teaching that inspire them and to bring up recollections of their own good qualities and any associated feelings. She then offers a quiet space to allow the meditator’s attention to settle, and to continue coming back to kindness.

The Buddha described patience as the highest spiritual quality, yet many of us find it challenging, even unappealing.
Modern society so often emphasises immediate gratification through an act of will. We then bring this pressure to our meditation practice and use too much force, making the path harder than it needs to be. On the contrary, the Buddha encouraged us to focus on the causes for happiness and peace - the careful laying down of conditions that allow beautiful qualities of the heart to ripen, in their own time.
Developing such a patient, kind and gentle attitude enables us to stay with experience long enough to discover its beauty and depth. We learn to find contentment here and now, instead of being caught in restless seeking.
    ABOUT US:
Anukampa Bhikkhuni Project is a charity that aims to spread the Buddha's teachings and give women the opportunity to train toward full bhikkhuni ordination for the very first time in the UK. Over the years we have developed a diverse and dedicated spiritual community around these aims and recently found a property! Anukampa Grove Bhikkhuni Monastery, in Boar's Hill, Oxford, is surrounded by peaceful woodland. We moved there on March 22nd, 2024. In this exciting phase we welcome your support to enable us to cover the significant running costs, make essential renovations and adaptations to the property, and welcome visitors and aspiring monastic trainees as soon as we can!
Donations of any amount are very gratefully received, either as one-off gifts or standing orders. UK tax payers can claim gift aid, increasing your donation by 25%. International bank transfers can be made via Wise.
