    I think the main reason viper auto-tracks buffs is because of how much you're going to be pressing. On one hand the job "plays itself" in a vacuum, but if it's listed with the literal triple-weaving Papa Yoshi was doing on top of your basic rotation on top of boss mechanics, it has the potential to be extremely busy. Will it dethrone Gunbreaker/Ninja/Machinist in APM? Maybe. But it does look cool.

    was expecting a DoT melee tbh, since it's call viper. Feels like a face button mash monk + reaper

      Think the buffs they get from skills like the old Ninja skills, Kiss of the Wasp, and Kiss of the Viper. That's how I see them anyway

      DoT on melee doesnt work that well though, all melee jobs kinda switch to position DoT rather than enemy DoT

      @dale7326 monk was technically a DoT melee it has been since.. 2.0? They could had just made the viper's sword gauge thingy a poison coating gauge that has to be refreshed via rotations, applies a 6-9 sec DoT stacking up to 3 times or something. It's not game exactly game breaking damage but it's more about class identity. Right now it's just a "I'm kirito I am speed" button mash class which the new monk and reaper already are

    I don't know if there's a smart system tracking your buffs. From what I understand, the final hit of the branching combo will enhance a different final hit, which will always be one you get to by using the other buff. So the combos naturally have you alternate back and forth between the two buffs, I don't think it cares what your timers are at. So the only thing you need to worry about with the filler combos is which positional you're about to do, which you can tell by if your second hit was on the left or right, and whether or not to use your first hit to apply the debuff. Should basically never have to worry about the two buffs aside from downtime, which you just use dreadwinder to get them going again

      I haven't seen an answer yet, but judging by reaper's enshroud not interrupting it's basic combo, I'll bet it doesn't

    Can the filler combo be unconsolidated? I don't really want to just press 2 buttons for my entire filler rotation...

      They did mention the option to uncouple combo buttons in general in the live letter.

      No they cannot, but you can count the ogcd finisher as a third button, and the two buttons are always in different orders

      @@NeroNyte Oh. I really don't like that. I guess I'll be staying away from this job, pressing only 2 buttons for a supposedly 8 button filler combo is really boring, especially since it's forced on us. I kinda like being able to at a glance see my entire rotation laid out, not just only a quarter of it at a time.

      @@QueenKissune I personally think it fits the identity of Viper, like the dual wielding theme of it. I find it to be basically the same as Reaper's filler but more engaging. We'll have to wait till it comes out to get a sense of just how much you're actually using the filler, but I'm personally very excited either way. I'm all for jobs having a unique feel

    "If you're new to melee Viper is a good start" - meanwhile viper starts at lvl80. Damn you must be reallly dedicated into one or two roles to not even touch melee role. I'm not saying it's impossible.
    It still looks so weird to me where "hard" classes are from ARR and Heavensward but in Dawntrail when you should be already experienced with the game you get an "easy" job.

      Could also be someone’s second job period. Like they have just finished playing through MSQ on one job and think “maybe I’ll learn a melee now.” I don’t think that not having played a melee job by the end of endwalker is strange at all

      I think what he meant by that is players that have played other roles but wanna branch into Melee for the first time
      Like me for example, I've only ever played Healer and Caster for my raid groups. My Melee jobs aren't even at 90 rn lol. But Viper and the new DRG has me super interested and makes me wanna step out of my comfort zone.

    So it's different combos branching from the same skill?? That will conflict with the new setting where your combo buttons will change into the next skill in the combo without having to slot the actual skill on the hot bar...but who knows it may not be that bad

      that setting only applies to some oGCDs, not Weaponskills.
