Thanks so much for supporting TomoFujitaMusic!!
Young John Mayer is back
Really talented but john mayer is from another dimension of music.
heheheh funny
lotta people can shred, lotta people can sing, lotta people can write songs. not too many can put it all together. this kid is sick though
Hopefully less of a dick head John Mayer
@@Charldino2345 John is literally one of the nicest chaps around.
Crazy how this is for lesson purposes, yet I come back every time for sheer enjoyment
Thanks so much!

Thank you so much!
Wait is that a Donna Lee lick?
@@AdamTruth I thought I alone heard it😂
As an amateur guitar player, thank you for these videos. They inspire me to practice every day.
You're welcome!
For those trying to work out the chord progression, just slow down the video and you can easily see what Zack's doing. G - E7 (no 5) - Am9 - D7 (no 5). Add in the chromatic bass line to make the transition smoother between the changes. Then the turn is C - D - C - Cadd2 (with your thumb on the 8th fret of the E string). Might no bet entirely accurate but that'll get you going.
Then jam in G major and you're good to go.
Thanks!
The guitar face is strong with this one!!!
May the guitar face be with you young Luke!
Watching these videos is bittersweet; it's some of the loveliest guitar content around but I'll never be able to come Berklee to experience it myself.... ah well what can you do. Thanks Tomo!

yes. bravo. Just lovely.

PRS & Tomo: Hold my beer
Thank you!
TomoFujitaMusic i hope i may ask... do you have a higher action, is the fretwork impeccable, how does this work for you?
I had a strat with the same radius and found it harder to keep the note ringing in a bend. After a few months (i play everyday, guitar was second hand Fender) the frets got flatter, which Made it unplayable so... is sold it
2mm from the strings to the fret at 12th fret. This way, it's better for TONE, muting, bending and all that.
TomoFujitaMusic Thank you for taking the time to anwsering!
Getting a ruler as we sprak :)
Nice jam. Tried to learn some of those tasty licks by ear, got some of them but took me time I don't have.
Thanks! You need to train your ears so you can learn music better.
It's all about preparation!
How about now? :)
He's got the Mayer thuuuuumb
Probably gonna sound stupid here but what chords are Zack playing?
Good question! If you don't know each chords, how can you solo on?
Can you hear G ...E7...A-7...D7...?
i wish i have a teacher in guitar
Thank you! We all need a great teacher or a great mentor for going right direction!

like a bluesy jack johnson tune! I want some banana pancakes.
love it! What are the turnaround chords?
Simple!
Bonjour professeur j aurai bien aimé avoir ce court dans winsdow music
What’s the name of this tune because I want to jam to it
No name. Just a jam
What chords are being played in the progression?
Simple chords! Ask Zack!
G C Am D
From my little understanding of theory - it sounds like a lot of use of Major Pentatonic which bits of Jazzy Chromatic stuff thrown in. Do you have a scale recommendation for the jazzy type sound?
Don't worry
Don't compare
Don't expect too fast
Be kind to yourself
A bit of triads, chord tone, chromaticism etc.
@@TomoFujitaMusic do u have a commendation of how to get started with that sound?
@@SaintMiddleton listen to some jazz and you'll play it without realising
What is that walk Zack keeps on doing with the chords?
Maybe Zack can answer that!

TomoFujitaMusic oh my gosh, it’s you sensei
What is this style called
Sounds a bit of jazzz
But im confused
Don't worry! I will ask Zack at my Thursday Morning Coffee Chats on my Instagram LIVE (10am EST)
Why i heard like " I III IV V" on bass ?
It's a common substitution, like III-VI-II-V.
mm
tasty
Thanks~
Are you à sorcer ?
This happens when you watch JM too much and stop becoming real you
Actually we all do this with each own.. (my case Larry Carlton) a few years. Then we all path through (if we noticed) to go own direction based on own influences. Like you never born without your parents. We all due to respect our parents, our influencers and thankful everyday!
@@TomoFujitaMusic yes, we all do try to copy our heroes and play and be like them. The way we perform is a mixture of dozens of inspirations (not only musical). But sometimes it is a little "too much" if you know what I mean. LC, SRV and plenty others inspired you, but you Tomo got your own cool thing going on. It could have been Miles Davis to say: "it takes a lot of time to sound like real you". Maybe there's a clue for this lad to try develope his own style (at Berklee level of education), not to perfect to mimic and play like another copy of JM
Your point is clear and loud! So important point is to do first step (copy as much as you can, study the details) then step two is when to stop and not listen those anymore and make a decision to how to make your own sound! This is not natural process (some people only say... it takes years.... but more specic way? My case... away from ES335 first step! Go to Stratocaster... but my case imagine Gibson tone in Stratocaster... so I have worked on picking... plus I am a huge fan of SRV... I can mimic SRV so deeply... but I heard so many people just use a lot of phrases from SRV so mu step two for that... go back blues guitar history to study more older blues guys so that I could make my own blues style which I mix with jazz. Above all, first you got to do copy somebody so close... BB King, Albert King, Albert Collins... you have to that "step one" so good then Step two is waiting for you!! It relates to everything. Good planning, preparation and pure hard work without expecting the result so fast. Be patient and believe yourself!!
@@TomoFujitaMusic Nothing to add Sir! I totally agree that Strats are the way to start it all. I really like your pro attitude and unique playing style (especially your trademark bends). I dig it!

Very cool this about this. RUclips. You can press no sound or not watch it!!
This is the man who taught John Mayer and it shows. Glad to see you're teaching yet another John Mayer
Thank you!
Does tomo teach how to dislocate your thumb at berklee or something
Funny I always think of this in the context of jazz even like a jazz blues. It's interesting how when you can change the rhythm and the phrasing it becomes more like a pop music song just like it was back in the fifties with the doo-wop.
Thanks so much! Even simple pop chord progressions, I tend to play a bit of jazz essence like imagining chords that not exist in that chord changes.
This is my new favourite series to watch
Thanks!
The nice thing with this progression which is the beginning of "Rhythm changes".You can play simple bluesy with lot's off Feel or play the changes like the jazz guys do with çhord tones and alterations on the dominant chords, always a great study. A fine jam, greetings Vic.
Just I VI II V so it could be pop, country or jazz! Thanks!

Hmm that was ok. Dont get me wrong. I agree, they got nice tone and feel, but that was nearly all. 90% of the solos were like standart Blues stuff, pentatonics and bendings u hear all the time. Then lil bit of fast and jazzy lines by the teacher but nothin really that special. I expected a little bit more from the "big" berklee school. But hey that's my opinion so #plsdonthate #sorryforbadenglish
