@@nolanchen6782 They do, the designs are just much different now. For example on the F-16 it has leading edge flaps, these automatically retract and extend by the fly by wire computer system. While the French Rafale has 4 leading edge slats. The F-22 also uses a moveable flap type on the front of the wing.

Actually, according to some friends from Kuwaiti Air Force and the Iraqi Air Force ( both were pilots of the F1 mirage from the Iraqi side and A-4 Skyhawk from the Kuwaiti side ) both agreed that the kuwaiti Skyhawks were superior to the Iraqi F1 , the Kuwaiti F1 took down almost 12 Iraqi F1 and mil28 helicopters, but the kuwaiti Skyhawks took over 40 mixes Iraqi planes , in the first days of the invasion only ! , both pilots are still alive to tell the story .
@@LongShotChannel Yeah, it was a great fight. You and GS uploaded at around the same time, but I clicked on yours first because this seemed like the better fight. I wasn't disappointed!
WOW! What an excellent match! All three were awesome! The running commentary was excellent. I see why GS likes to go against you. Your a tough opponent!
I trained on the ejection seats on A-4's. The cockpit is like a F-1 race car, it's shoulder width apart and almost zero room. I'd say it's properly modeled if you feel like it's small. Besides, it was not used for air to air often, there were better planes for that.
Nic fight! Didn’t think the scooter would do as well as it did! Would love to see the F1 go against the Mig19 or even the Mig15 would be interesting! Thanks for another great video!
Great video Longshot - and an interesting match up!! I can not thank you enough for posting these videos as the weather here in Norway has been horrible, so I am mostly stuck inside and its nice to have something interesting to watch! Looking forward to the next one Longshot! Stay safe and take care.
LongShot...great vid.... the scooter, as it was nicknamed is really small and when you sit in it, it is cramped. The guys who have done the A-4 captured that really well; it is a good if not better than many of the pay modules in my humble opinion. The A-4 is quite a capable aircraft for it's time and I think you flew it really well. It was used to simulate Mig-17's in DAC. I must admit, I was like " Forget the curve ball, give him the heater Ricky!" when you got in his 4 to 8.😁
You are so correct about the A-4! There was a real cockpit you could climb into, at a flight museum I visited. It made the "cockpit" of my Mazda Miata/MX-5 feel roomy in comparison!
Great video! I just noticed the A4 has two clocks, one on the cockpit bow and the other on the top right side of the dashboard. Maybe it was an Air Force requirement because the pilots were always late. 😂
I would love to see you and Sidewinder in the F1 Mirage doing two morons battle the Raptor!!!! Each of you would have a video film from your perspective but with connected audio where you're talking to each other while you battle the F-22 that would be hilarious
This fight is a great idea Longshot, always a pleasure to see what your sharp mind comes up with! Edit : Your cinematics are so seamless and smooth, just a joy to watch. Hollywood could learn a thing or two from you, imagine the movies you could have fixed from bad edits and concepts, like the last three Star Wars movies. So tragic how that entire universe was destroyed by bad film makers.

The A-4's leading edge slats deploy automatically under their own weight and air pressure making them quite simple and light weight.
Sounds similar to the design on the Me-109, from the video it even looks allot like a bigger version of the Me-109 slats.
Why modern fighters don't use leading edge slats anymore?

Have loved the A-4 Skyhawk ever since I was a little kid back when the Blue Angels flew them! (Yes, I'm old)
Another Great Video Longshot!
Thanks!
You are not old. You are experienced
Those teams were real stick and rudder guys back then. Their breaks transitioning to rejoins we're a thing of beauty.
That is SOME roll rate. I suspect Scooter drivers did not eat breakfast.
It's actually known that they bumped their head alot in the canopy when they rolled the jet.
@@LongShotChannel Lol. Blue Angels were still flying them when I started active duty. F-14 was being displayed as the up-and-coming gear.

Sometimes I like to lay on the floor and pretend I'm a carrot.
Do you play nightcrawlers too?
have you tried laying down while in the shower? so you can feel what its like to be watered
awesome matchup with the scooter and the mirage, well played!
Yeah, It's a nice match. Thanks!
Man this dogifght was one of the best i've ever seen ! :)
Good Fight by this Mirage F1 tho
Greetings from France
Greetings! And thank you

We definitely miss them in the skys here in nz

That F-1 came back in round two with fangs out great flying on both your parts keep it up LS.
Yes he did, thanks

The A-4 is such a bitchin' little plane, thing handles like a bloody UFO.
As soon as you said the A4 had a good roll rate and nose authority I was waiting for a rolling scissor.
I think the A4 would love some AB .. lightly modernize it, more thrust.. it would be a lovely little pocket attacker / fighter
Longshot, thanks for uploading this! Would you ever make an appearance on Enigma's Cold War Server?
I just logged in to see it.
F16, F18, F22, Eurofighter, Su33 and Su57 ...yeah, nice.
But this is the real stuff 🥰
Vietnam and cold war era stuff is awesome. I'd like to see more modules - the f111, Tornado, the GR2-7 version of the Harrier come to mind.
Great video dude, it's so nice to hear you , cheers from 🇨🇵
I appreciate you! Thanks
Great fight, amazing camera, thank you very much!
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
OK, the F1 is great. How about the F4 now? Would like to fly old Double Ugly.
F4 is in development and may be out this fall, existing F4 in DCS is a mod.
You gotta love the A-4!
fantastic video as always!
Well done!
Great fight!
Good job great fight
Ironicly the Kuwaiti Air Force even had the Mirage F-1 in it's service.

Hey Mr Long Shot where are you from? South America?
Mirage F1 is the next module I’ll get ;) love that beast, but does it have Magic 2 ?
Magic-2 and Super 530F will be added later in EA.
View from A-4 is better than view from Mirage F-1 ..mot to mention MiG-21
nice match; gotta check your A-4 v. AV-8B vid next.
