I remember doing this diet about 20 years ago. I loved it only because I love any and all vegetables. But after three months solid and no treats but sticking with the diet I lost no weight and my skin smelt of cabbage. Still eat cabbage just not the same amount that I had in the soup

Friend of mine did the cabbage soup diet years ago when it first came out (the 80s), back then it was just boiled cabbage 3 x a day. She ate nohing else AND drank the water she boiled it in. Week one, I stopped going round hers cos her house stunk so bad it made me want to 🤮 Week two we took to meeting up in open spaces 🌪 Week three both our phone bills went up shed loads 📞 Week 4 she stopped but the windypops didn't. Week 5 we finally got back to some semblance of friendship normality 😁 Be grateful Mark only lasted a few hours Rox x
Yesssss! This completely, he had other veggies in there! I remember a family friend doing it, it was just cabbage boiled in water and drinking gallons of the water. So unhealthy.

My mum did the cabbage soup diet in the 80s, it was horrendous and we never let her forget it 😂😂 I genuinely thought that Mark would succeed for the day given how much he wants to prove something 😂😂😂 Cabbage soup is dire! I love red cabbage but green cabbage is revolting 😂

I would actually LOVE that soup! Oh well, to each his own...
I'm never one for "diets", but as someone who grew up eating cabbage stew (cultural dish), there are plenty of ways to make it more appetizing (the main effectiveness of this as a weight loss method comes from low carbs and lots of veg). Feel free to add stewing beef or cut pork tenderloin with onion (and garlic if preferred). In addition, try a different type of cabbage (my family used ones that were large light green, less frilly leaves, about the size of a volleyball). Cabbage also sometimes has a strong bitterness to it, so after chopping it (I'd recommend chopping it finer, almost into ribbons), boil a large pot of water with about half a cup of white vinegar, and add the chopped cabbage to wilt it for a few minutes (shouldnt take more than 3, then strain and rinse with cold water). In addition to making the cabbage softer, it helps reduce some of the bitterness in the final dish. Hope this helps!
