For ending E where 'Homunculus' said he erased Wagner from existence he is lying. He ended the story with "So, it was something like that." - meaning a big fat fib. Note how in the story he says that he wouldn't fall for a trick like that in a thousand years, he's just covering his pride that it _did_ happen. Presumably the true events are the same as in ending D which are 'something like' the story he told but an awful lot _not_ like the story as well. On the other hand if Wagner sealed Homunculus back into the stone straight away then how is it then running around giving us the digipad in the future?
For ending A please note that Margarete was adopted by 'The Eckhards', not 'Mr Eckhard. Meaning you can save his wife from dying if you persist.
Both the Eike-alike and Hugo-alike are descendants of the family line in the ex endings. Of the two versions of the ex endings the one where he heals the mother seems like the nicest ending but this should also prevent all the time travel shenanigans from ever occurring in which case Dana and Margarete would never have been swapped. However in the ending where Homunculus touches the stone (himself) and gets erased from existence then none of the time travel shenanigans happen either and everyone should live the lives they were always supposed to but this also means that the real Margerete and Hugo's mother Helena will get sick and die anyway.
Time travel is confusing stuff man. I do seem to have quite a few videogames that involve it in some manor though even ones that aren't 'traditional' time travel. My favourite is the Legacy of Kain games. Arguably I have 33 games that involve time travel or manipulation in some way

This was a fascinating little gem, certainly dated in areas but that kinda adds to the charm in a way.

I'm SO glad you enjoyed SOD as much as you did. Listening to you gush about the story at the end there had a stupid smile on my face because I knew you would be one of the types of players who _would_ appreciate it, despite it being as dated as it is (with the voice acting, especially). Overall, it was just as good as I knew it would be.

I finally finished up this video lol
This game was wild in pretty much every sense of the word
It was pretty light and underdeveloped game play wise but thats not really what they were going for
The concept and execution of the time travel mystery was quite good. The acting and characters were bizarre and often bad, but this game wouldn't have been nearly as fun without it.
I'm not really sure what else to say about it honestly, other then I really did genuinely enjoy. I don't think I'd play this myself but watching it was great. Got a lot of good laughs out of the quirkiness of this one and it was always interesting to see what new turn the story would take.
I'm surprised this game never had any sort of sequel or spin off, it seems like the type of cult classic that would have gotten more love.
The ps2 era was so damn vast and unique

In Chapter 5, if you tell Margarete that you think she's your ancestress, you follow the path that leads to endings A, B, and C. If you say nothing, you'll get ending D or E

Oh wow.... I just noticed that the exact date, February 7th, when you go back to the time where Homonculus steals Dana is actually my birthday, but 3 years before I was born! Damn... the things you don't always notice when you're playing a game yourself.

rule of rose is quite fun... other titles from this time frame that might interest you are the zone of the enders series, the onimusha series and the devil may cry series... the original xbox has some hidden gems aswell, otogi is one example that springs to mind

I remember playing this game as a kid. Kinda surprised to see this is only a few months old, but happy to see it

Also, I'm being so serious about ROR though. Yes, it's expensive but that's because of it's rarity. It was never actually "Released", but you kind of ruin the story if you look into the reasons why before playing it.
That said however, it's along the same vein with there being mystery, but there's also horror, drama and... it's just one of those games that leaves a lasting impression. It's an incredible story/experience that a lot of people have never played, and even more don't know it exists. There also aren't that many playthroughs of it either, but a lot of people do look for them. Cryaotic was the biggest RUclipsr to play it, but I had no idea what it even was until a channel that dissects horror games talked about it in a sort of "Love Letter" video to the game and what a tragedy it was that it was never released.
Anyways, I really hope you give it a chance (you won't regret it), and again, I'm really glad not only to have been able to watch you play through and enjoy this game but also to see how far along your channel has come. I saw it doing so way back and I'm so glad to see I was right. People like you deserve it!

Honestly I think it could have been a good game. If they remake it with a better script, an update to the animation quality, and some better voice acting it could be pretty good
