Matale Theru 2024 One of the biggest Hindu festivals in Sri Lanka

MATALE SRI MUTHTHUMARI AMMAN KOVIL THERU FESTIVAL - SRI LANKA
The current temple was built in 1874, funded by the Nattukkottai Chettiar.This temple is used by both Hindus and Buddhists. The temple was originally a small statue under a tree prayed to by the Hindu people but has been developed by the people in Matale. The first Kumbhabhishekham of the temple was held in 1960.
The temple was severely damaged during the anti-Tamil riots in July 1983 but was subsequently restored. One of the visually dominant features of this temple is its 32.9 m (108 ft) high Gopuram ('Raja Koburum'), a large decorated tower located above the main northern gateway ('Vadakku Vaayil') to the temple. The Raja Koburum is one of the largest Gopurams in Sri Lanka. The 1008 statues of Hindu deities are the work of South Indian sculptor, Nagalingam and his son Ramanathan, with the help of about 100 designers, painters and architects from Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka. The Raja Koburum was completed in 2007 at a cost of approximately Rs 150M.
මුතුමාරියම්මන් කෝවිල තේරු උත්සවය 2024
ශ්‍රී මුතුමාරියම්මන් කෝවිල යනු ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ මාතලේ නගරය මැද පිහිටි ජනප්‍රිය හින්දු සිද්ධස්ථානයකි. මෙම දේවාලය වැසි සහ සශ්‍රීකත්වයේ දේවතාවිය වන මාරියම්මන් වෙනුවෙන් කැප කර ඇත. ශ්‍රී මුතුමාරියම්මන් විහාරස්ථානයේ ඉතිහාසය 19 වැනි සියවස දක්වා දිව යයි.
මෙම ඉඩම මුලින් කුඹුරු යායක කොටසක් වූ අතර අයිතිකරු විසින් 1852 දී පරිත්‍යාග කරන ලදී. වර්තමාන විහාරස්ථානය 1874 දී ඉදිකරන ලද අතර එය නාට්ටුක්කෝට්ටෙයි චෙට්ටියාර් විසින් අරමුදල් සපයන ලදී. මෙම විහාරය හින්දු සහ බෞද්ධ යන දෙපිරිස විසින්ම භාවිතා කරනු ලැබේ. විහාරස්ථානය මුලින් හින්දු ජනතාව විසින් යාඥා කරන ලද ගසක් යට කුඩා පිළිමයක් වූ නමුත් මාතලේ ජනතාව විසින් සංවර්ධනය කර ඇත. 1983 ජුලි මාසයේ දෙමළ විරෝධී කෝලාහලයේදී විහාරස්ථානයට දැඩි ලෙස හානි සිදු වූ නමුත් පසුව එය ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කර ඇත.
මෙම විහාරස්ථානයේ දෘශ්‍යමය වශයෙන් ප්‍රමුඛතම අංගයක් වන්නේ එය මීටර් 55 (අඩි 180) උස් වූ ගෝපුරය වන අතර එය පන්සලට ප්‍රධාන උතුරු දොරටුවට ඉහළින් පිහිටා ඇති විශාල අලංකාර කුළුණකි. මෙම ගෝපුරයේ නම රාජ කෝබුරම් වන අතර එය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ විශාලතම ගෝපුරයකි. හින්දු දෙවිවරුන්ගේ ප්‍රතිමා 1008 දකුණු ඉන්දීය මූර්ති ශිල්පී නාගලිංගම් සහ ඔහුගේ පුත් රාමනාදන් විසින් තමිල්නාඩුවේ සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ නිර්මාණකරුවන්, චිත්‍ර ශිල්පීන් සහ ගෘහ නිර්මාණ ශිල්පීන් 100 දෙනෙකුගේ පමණ සහාය ඇතිව සිදු කරන ලදී.
මාතලේ ශ්‍රී මුතුමාරියම්මන් විහාරස්ථානයේ වාර්ෂික තේරු උත්සවය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ විශාලතම හින්දු උත්සවයක් ලෙස සැලකේ. නගරය වටා හින්දු දෙවිවරුන්ගේ ප්‍රතිමා ප්‍රවාහනය කිරීම සඳහා උත්සව කාලය තුළ අලංකාර ලෙස සරසන ලද අශ්ව රථ භාවිතා කරනු ලැබේ. සාම්ප්‍රදායික දිය කැපීමේ උත්සවයෙන් උත්සවය අවසන් වේ.
