- Failed to mention that the trap door spring loaded latch release button was machined slightly different between my old Colt's and the new Fulton Armory. Fulton Armory describes their metal door as USGI.

Another GREAT video Peter. It got me inspired to assemble my complete Colt Buttstock kit I have in storage and no rattle with the spacer. All Colt parts.
Thanks! I haven't checked my Colts for spacer rattle but I'm thinking there won't be. Don't know why I didn't think to check when I had them out for the video! Duh! Next time around I'll check!
You did a good job installing the winter trigger guard.
Much cleaner than pounding the roll pin in with a tack hammer.
LOL !
And hey, you knew that curvy one didn’t belong there the moment you tightened it down.
You are correct! Lol! More in keeping with the Colt original!
@@peteregger7928 you’re a purist, my friend.
That’s why you worry about dissimilar metals in the middle of a desert.
LOL !
I'm damaged goods for sure!@@ordinaryman1904
@@peteregger7928 old habits die hard.
Good video! Keep up the good work! I do love you attention to detail, and for bringing these things to our attention. I thought I knew a lot about the AR, but you keep teaching me things, big thank you! And Lord I love the A2! Rifle length gas system is the King!
Thanks! Really appreciate it! I have a few decked out carbines but I'm always pulled back to the A2 rifle! My favorite too!
Very educational videos. Thanks for posting.
Thanks! Much appreciated!
P.E. QC Works, nice job. You make Fulton Armory and others shine. A lot of mold line buttstocks from others on the market as well. Would like to see a video from you shooting those 4 comparing groups at 100 yards. Thanks for sharing your ARs and knowledge.
Thanks Allen! There will definitely be some comparison shooting between my old original Colt HBAR Sporter and the new HBAR clone. Might roll out all the 20" AR's like you suggested! It seems that very little in the marketplace is as it was especially with the legacy stuff! Not made the same, poor quality! Trying my best to pick out decent stuff but it is challenging!
Always use Aeroshill 33 on my buffer tubes, pins, and barrel nuts.
Great stuff! Aero Shell 33 is also Lithium based.
Beautiful Build So Far Pete That Guy Was Right The GI Trigger Guard Was The Right Choice 😊😀😊 I Can’t Wait To See the Upper and Lower Together as One Fine Rifle and Testing It Did You Say It’s a 1:8 Twist Barrel Pete Can’t Remember Off Hand 😊
Criterion 20" HBAR, 1:8 twist Wylde chamber, chrome lined. It's still up in Utah at Trajectory Arms. Been there three weeks now! The girl said they started on it late last week. How long does it take to install an A2 FSB? They're making me nervous!
@@peteregger7928 ... That does cause some confidence issues on service. Why didn't you install FSB yourself?
They don't answer the phone either! When you call they have left a voice message and I'm paraphrasing here but it's basically we're to busy to answer the phone. I don't have the fixtures to do it right for the FSB slots and taper pin alignment. I think also to do it very precise you need a vertical mill with a DRO (digital read out) to index off the barrel and referencing the barrel extension pin and gas port hole for the drilling and cuts. If I was younger it might have been worth it to invest in the equipment and hang out my own shingle! @@Allenmar73
@@peteregger7928 No Kidding Hope It Comes Back Soon 😀
Just now got an email from them saying it's done and will be boxed up today and should be on the UPS truck Monday! They're just up the road about 5 hours so I'm hoping Wednesday by the latest. @@chrischiampo7647
Ah you listened to that guy and removed the trigger guard. Did you use the tool or did you just punch it out?
The Bastion trigger guard uses screws so very easy to install/remove.
Hey brother, can I ask what book that was you were looking at?
The hard copy manual I have for M16A2 is U.S Marine Corps Technical Manual TM 05538C-23&P/2 October 1984. You may also be able to locate one by the NSN 1005-01-128-9936.
Hey Peter .... Another Vegas local here ..... And I have been watching your videos for a while now. What "size" hollow ground flat head bit did you use for the large A2 butt stock screw ? ... and Thank you, Hope to see you on the range some day :)
Blade thickness on mine was a snug fit at .060" and then as wide as you can go. The one I used came in at about .350" wide which wasn't ideal but caused no damage. About .450" wide would have been about perfect but I don't think you could go much wider than that with mine! Quite a few Las Vegas locals here! Thanks for watching!
@@peteregger7928 Thank you for the reply!
@@7674Princess You're welcome!
Comparing quality made in US 1990's A2 stocks to today's US isn't fair. US today is spiraling down to 3rd world nation, in decline that era is gone.
Yes! I wonder what percentage of younger people even know what a tool and die maker, machinist or millwright is or I should say was? They're for the most part extinct!
Hi Shipmate, New AR owner here. Mine is missing the door does a new one just snap in? Also what was supposed to be stored in the stock, Thanks IC2
Hey IC2! AD2 for my first 5 years then became an AT for the last 16 years plus and retired as an ATC(AW). The butt stock door is pinned in. Sounds like your's will need some disassembly and reassembly. Once you get the butt plate off the butt stock you should be able to see what might be missing to hold the door on. Most people keep a pieced together cleaning kit in the butt stock. You most likely will not stop with one AR! Lol!
@@peteregger7928 Ok then Chief! Thanks for the info I do appreciate it, I think I have it figured out. I mess cranked for the chiefs on DDG2, watched Caligula too! lol
Oh and Happy Veterans Day!
Ha! Ha! When I first made Chief they were having an argument that almost came to blows as to whether the mess should stock 1/4 or 1/2 pound hamburger patties. Literally these two Chiefs were ready to throw down. I raised my hand and said why don't you just stock 1/4 pounders and put two of those together if you want a 1/2 pounder. Command Master Chief thanked me after the meeting for averting a possible melee! Lol! @@billman6364
Thanks! You too!@@billman6364
the HBAR 2from Colt it is the most beautiful rifle ever made everything else just copy s with plastic all around
I always gravitate back to them! Can't explain exactly why? I have quite a few Carbine flat tops all decked out but there's just something about the 20" A2!
@@peteregger7928 is just beautiful with the carrier handle on top that's something else i got one and i love it
