I straight up admire and envy the fact that this brother can switch up his patterns while I’m still trying to find my crown. It’s dope- plus he’s wild informative. One of the best wave gurus out here. Thanks man, thrive bro.
I've been waving for 15 years way before youtube had the influence it had. I learned how tho get waves from my uncle and this is the routine I've been using.
This method is much better than the wash n style. Thank god we got a tutorial for this method from the prophet lew man. This guy has taught and helped me more than anyone on youtube. Facts over fiction. Thank you.
Personally I tried the "Brush Til Dry" method today and I feel my hair is softer and feels like it is healthier. I have always had trouble locking in the moisture and needing to apply more product later. This feels like the solution. After a "Wash n Style" my hair feels dry and sometimes crunchy. Appreciate what you do for the game and the culture!! Will do this method again!!
when i saw the benefit and result from deep conditioning i knew the regular wash and style wasn’t best method for me. the brush til dry method is the winner. well explained video sir. take care!
Now this right here is what I absolutely needed cuz this method works the best for me, the wash n style leaves my hair looking all flaky and bad but with this method it dont, I'm glad you made this, this the only vid on RUclips with this method too, thanks JLew!
OMG my firt reaction was "TF J Lew got waves quick" just by the title i instantly knew this was gonna be a good video. i also do this exact same method however i use the shea moisture Jamaican black castor oil and today i washed my hair and also added the actual jamaican black castor oil in my thin spot to thicken those areas but all together another great vid #TheRealDon
Thank you for these videos! I remember you answered one of my comments once and told me to watch your porosity videos. I found out that oils or pomades did not help me but rather made it impossible for me to really lay my hair down while brushing. Using Cocoa Butter helped me very much. Still one problem is that my hair grows very slow so I tried an oil, which should help growing hair and it did help to grow my hair, still I couldn't brush them properly until I washed it out. The only time I can kind of brush is, when I put water in my hair then brush but after it dries, the waves are gone. But Cocoa Butter really didn't stay in my hair for days but I'm not sure, whether putting it into my hair everyday is a good idea. Sorry for this long comment and my grammar mistakes (I'm from Germany) :)
Were you able to try the hair porosity test to identify your hair's porosity? My hair doesn't grow fast but JLew's wash style method and especially his LOC method really helps keep my hair moisturized. Are you consistent with brushing and your do rag? What about the direction or pattern that you brush your hair? Try Jojoba Oil or Baobad oil but use the LOC method hopefully that will lock in the moisture so your hair doesn't dry out. I hope this helps🙏🏾
Great vid JLew. I'm also a lo porosity waver and find the wash and style leaves me dry. Not knocking the method it's just not for me. I use the method you just showed. It moisturizers my hair better. Glad you shared this video. But as you stated it's a good method and probably used by many.
Yo J what's up I just started following you about a couple months back. But you know me I like your content and I like the information that you put out due to the fact that you come with facts and you have information to back the information up. So you know what I mean but I want to let you know keep up the good work oh yeah and I will send you the message to let you know I was a hardcore dreader but now I'm waving 3 months strong.
Great video fam! I gotta give this a shot sometime. Funny thing is I’m kinda the same way with the wash and style (I’m also low porosity). I liked it at first, but I’m starting to think it’s not for me. Sometimes I get good results, but every now and then my hair is really dry or I still have some dandruff even after scramble washing and rinsing out the shampoo completely. Only times it didn’t happen is when I used this shampoo in the video (that stuff is GREAT). Also I gotta question. It is bad if you don’t condition your hair after a wash? Conditioner makes my hair over curl like crazy and makes my waves look whack. I normally just use oils or light product afterwards
I just did this and the result are decent, I have a 2b hair texture, I'm not sure how long you're supposed to brush your hair but I did 30 minutes and I felt as if my hair was kinda damp, definitely better than wash and style though. Let me know if I should've brushed more or less, I used a medium brush and I have about a 3.5 with the grain right now
@@JustinTimeJLew Yea my right side waves are looking iffy, I'll try maybe 50 minutes next time, I'm gonna try not to wash my hair for 2 weeks so I can make the most progress though, Thanks for the tips
Great video! I have a question though, what if your hair is at a low state ( 2 weeks after getting a haircut) Do u still use the hard brush or could you just skip to using a firm medium ? Since the Hard brush would be too rough on the scalp.
Yoooo I’m so glade that I’m not the only one that the wash and style method really don’t work. Its either the shampoo not coming all the way out or the dandruff just stops at my hair line😷😷
yo jlew im a coarse hair waver and next week is gonna be the start of my wolf so should i cop the royalty 710 or the 706 since i already have the diane 8119?
I didn’t have no oil for this method so I applied the goat drip butter cause it said it had some oils in it is that okay ? Or should I rewash my hair and do the regular wash method ?
What do you do for this method when you have high porosity hair? Heat is a no no for me so the processing cap might not be good and how long would I go about doing this method for?
Do we have to rag up after we finished brushing... I only ask because I want to try the no durag challenge as well... but like always fam your video's are what the wave game needs #EsDaBest
I'm going to try this and compare it with my regular wash n style routine to see which works better. I don't think the double compression did your waves justice - looked kinda flat when you uragged.
@@JustinTimeJLew ok. I guess what I'm saying is boo boo caps don't work for me. they flatten the waves - they too damn tight. I do be rocking my durag like you sometimes but with a regular stocking cap on top. this is still my favorite wave channel with the best information - even if I think that boo boo flattened your waves. ;)
1. Shampoo x2 2. Put in Condish. 3. Comb for abt 3 mins 4. Put a bonnet on 5. Take your normal shower 6. Put oil in your hair 7. Brush till dry and make sure your brush isn't dry 8. Put on Durag
JustinTime most definitely I respect that you offer more info in the brush review than just a review but your knowledge in the wave game so crazy I just like to see more vids like this. To hear more of that knowledge 💯.
Say fam my hair trained been waving for a year i always do the wash n style but this time i scrambled wash some of my hair wont lay down it still curled up ive been wolfing for 9 weeks did i lose my pattern? Or mess anything up. What do i do to fix it ? Hmu asap bro appreciate it
I literally just ragged up after doing that method. What I actually did was washed like a wash & style, but dried by brushing like you did on this vid. I used a coconut oil because that and olive oil are the only ones I got. I also got the AsIAm double butter and CES. I dont like putting products right back in my hair after a fresh wash. I put the coconut oil due to the fact that I left my silky in my people car. So I think this one rag is a poly, but my Definition came back ASAP with that hard brush. So I will check the results in about a half hour or maybe even 2MORROW since I’m in the crib chillin right now. All & All I like the method because I didnt lose any definition.
I kinda got my own version of the wash and style, I shampoo brush my hair than I shower brush the soap out, than I apply conditioner brush tell my hair is laid than I put on my rag and wash my conditioner out
Listen my hair curls up crazy after I wash no matter what method I do and my waves don’t get back to looking fresh until I cut my hair, I’ve never had a good wash experience, sometimes I think it’s cause my shampoo isn’t natural it has sulfates in it, can someone please tell me if that’s the reason
Fire content as always 🔥 Just wanna know where would a scalp massage fit in this method? Also, I wash my hair 4x a week after going to the gym so is that too often? I’m afraid this methods won’t let me make good progress if I do it this often.
I'm washing tonight, so I guess you could say this video came justintime.
King David HA, good 1😂

Just to add that your hair bounces back better and better with each day and brush session that passes after doing this method.
I'm def about to try this method because like you said my hair is dry and this method makes since in how to properly moisturize my type of hair.
Dope video, very informative and wonderful quality. Keep it up my G
This is actually a very effective method if you follow it correctly

You just took me back with dat intro beat Jlew. Fire vid fam
Great video. I had the same problem and it is wash day! I can't wait to try this!
Hey J Lew how about doing a video on how you make videos? You know like, behind the scenes, the camera, mic work and editing. That would be cool.
Been waiting on this vid since you announced it on Facebook !

Glad to see you back in the lab JLEW. Nice vid.SALUTE BRO.
Your waves are dope keep up the good work bro
1 question can i go against the grain with my waves I only had it for like 4 month's
This really works. I gotta get my passion back lol
I'm definitely looking into trying this method and using oils as well
Respect just did this waiting on the results as we speak as soon as I unrag just ragged up
🐐🐐🐐 Great video bruh bruh, and that slowed dine music tips it off for me 🤘🤘🤘🤘
💯💯Great video bro really helpful👍🏼
Aye jl do you see a difference in your pattern from your last one?

What type of brush are you rocking ? Looks nice
When are you dowing a give away for a du rag and thanx for the tips and i juts do the hot tawol cus it work the best for me but this helps my waves.
Yoooo I’m so glade that I’m not the only one that the wash and style method really don’t work. Its either the shampoo not coming all the way out or the dandruff just stops at my hair line😷😷
yes bro with me the wash and style is just a fail to me but the clay and lay is consistent and works for me everytime
Yo @Justintime is there a way for you to show us things to do or use for high porosity wavers?
CAN I DO THIS METHOD WITH THE MANUKA HONEY & MAFURA OIL INTENSIVE HYDRATION CONDITIONER OR YOU WOULDNT RECOMMEND IT?
Question, the front of my hair grows backwards to when i brush forwards it looks like i have a lil patch, can that part of my hair wave up?
yo jlew im a coarse hair waver and next week is gonna be the start of my wolf so should i cop the royalty 710 or the 706 since i already have the diane 8119?
How does that legion sauce smell? Strong odor with all of the different oils combined?
I use to do method years ago, still one of my staples.
I didn’t have no oil for this method so I applied the goat drip butter cause it said it had some oils in it is that okay ? Or should I rewash my hair and do the regular wash method ?
Dope vid as usual my guy!
#KeepDoingYourThing
What are your thoughts on the Shea Moisture BAOBAB & TEA TREE OILS LOW POROSITY PROTEIN-FREE SHAMPOO J Lew?
I tried it yesterday and it was cool - how would you compare to the manuka honey one ?
I just got done doing it...it works
I have leave in conditioner. Could I use that and rinse it out
Justin thought you were returning to the 360 pattern.??
shacouri Greenidge he made this vid back in January
JustinTime bro I love your vids mane thanks for the tips👌🏽👌🏽
Im a coarse hair waved and I did this method and it my wave wouldn’t lay back down
Is coconut oil a good oil to apply to your hair during this method?
Also can a bonnet be used in place of the shower cap?
What about the sportin waves why are using the HD waves
Are you using cold water through the whole process?
What do you do for this method when you have high porosity hair? Heat is a no no for me so the processing cap might not be good and how long would I go about doing this method for?
JustinTime appreciate it family
You know your stuff. Conditioner puts the moisture back In
Oh yeah you're doing your thing!
I got to try this out. Good info!
When I do the wash and style, last thing I do before I put my rag on is put in conditioner then I rinse that out with the rag on
My hair curls up when I do this
Jlew wave game pimp c always on point
I’m definitely going to try this method
Jlew a lot of wavers count their wolf differently if I have had my last cut March 27th would I start from March 28th, april3rd or April 10th
Great vid bro🌊!
JustinTime no problem🙌
so u only use a hard and medium for this method ?
I had to come back and read ya comment. I thought you’d forgotten you were switchin the pattern. 😂
i started getting gray hairs after wash and styles but idk if it was actually from that or stress since i was going thru stuff w my girl 😭😭😂
I was wondering a new wash method when my hair too short for a hard bristle brush
Austin Smith your waves spinning bruh.
Khi Smith thanks much love. Keep watching Justin, and all of them. They helped me now ima give them credit
Do we have to rag up after we finished brushing... I only ask because I want to try the no durag challenge as well... but like always fam your video's are what the wave game needs

JustinTime Ok good looking fam I will give this method a try today
I knw this is a old video and u had 720 waves but will this method work if u are trying to get 360 waves as well??
I wanted to not wash my hair for 2 weeks but its seems like my hair will be pretty dirty by then, it alright if I do this ever 4 days?
I need a pressure cap. I'll just use my other silk bonnet under it, looks simular to a durag, would that be okay?
JustinTime thx✊🏿
I'm going to try this and compare it with my regular wash n style routine to see which works better. I don't think the double compression did your waves justice - looked kinda flat when you uragged.

What's up J Lew. I thoght you was changing directions on your pattern.

1. Shampoo x2
2. Put in Condish.
3. Comb for abt 3 mins
4. Put a bonnet on
5. Take your normal shower
6. Put oil in your hair

8. Put on Durag
