I've tried over 20 different reeds including some very expensive handmade ones and I ALWAYS com back to the Vandoren V12. It needs more adjustment but once adjusted it last a very long time and is the most even sounding reed across the register.
Stefan Sigfinnsson Anything I've tried that comes close to the Vandoren V12 reeds are the PL Class reeds from Peter Leuthner in Austria. But they are very expensive and they don't beat the best V12 reeds
+Stefan Sigfinnsson I love the Peter Leuthner french cut professional reeds on a Clark Fobes Mouthpiece. The V21, the Traditional, the rue lepic are my favorites. Normall i play on the rue lepic.
+Stefan Sigfinnsson All rice reeds, all crap. The better rico reeds still are to buzzy and sand buzzy. With a good embouchure. The d'arddario are own rice, there reeds are just as bad
Alexander Lei I tried the Reserve in the huge packing with the humidity pack and with careful break-in over a week period they were very unstable from day to day and died fairly quickly. I most of the time have to work on the V-12 with sandpaper but after balancing them and careful break-in they last a long time. Longer than any brand I've tried.
I don't really see the point of this video. Everyone's reed preference is based on their own technique and set-up. If you try all of those reeds on a different mouthpiece, you'll get different results every time. Really all this video does is compare those reeds for YOU, not everyone.
Therea a difference but 1:its hardee to hear on recording and 2: what you do hear is slightly different but thats what matters. If you listen the V12 is brighter than the V21 for example

How do you feel about the Rue Lepic?
@@grahammarvell7596 too free blowing and bright upper register. More even resistance throughout the register with the V12
@@klarinetta I agree, it's too bright up high. I love the v12 :)
Vandoren reeds:
0:00 traditional
0:56 Rue lepic
1:52 v12
2:46 v21
V12 gets my vote here and overall the Vandoren reeds have more meat to the tone.

Stefan Sigfinnsson Yeah the Reserve are bad
Me quedo con las V12, simple y llanamente maravillosas.
I prefer the v12
Are the Vandoren V12 similar to the Rue Lepics? With V12 I usually play on a 3/3.5 so would I do the same with a Rue Lepic?
Barbie check a reed strength chart xD sometimes they are very inaccurate in terms of strength, but those charts pretty much generalize it.
my untrained ears cant tell the difference
I wish there would be this kind of video with a jazz piece, that would be more suited to my purposes.
you could always buy the jazz mix card reeds :) ( all of them are Vanderon)
@@leftatcostco3367 vandorian doesnt make jazz reeds?
One question. Do you feel the Rue Lepic and V12 to be of equal strength ? I find if I use V12 #3.5 I need to use Rue Lepic #3.5+
Stefan Sigfinnsson look at a strength chart :/
Stefan Sigfinnsson rue lepics always tend to be softer
Could you provide the set-up that you are using, for further reference?
V21 is very cool!!!
V21 is by far the best
Subjectively or Objectively speaking is the best for whom?
I prefer the 56 Rue Lepic
Still by vandoren
V21 sounds the clearest.

No Discernible Difference Whatsoever!
Slight tone changes my dude
