- This video explains how to setup an original Lava Lamp.
You will also find out about the dos and don'ts, which is very important, so your Lava Lamp will keep working ok and always look good. If you do not follow these tips, the lamp may get cloudy or the lava can brake up into little pieces.

I bought my 6 year old one for Christmas. I thought I put it together wrong. Thanks for the video!
Kids and teenagers buy them, have no patience and dont understand it takes a good few hours the first time you use it for it to function properly, the more you use it the quicker it functions, a freezing cold room in winter and you can expect it to take a real long time for it to flow . 4 hours maximum of use I would suggest, no longer. DONT move it once it's on it can cause clouding and iriparrible damage.

@@wolfcub1835 ...bulb is incorrect and not powerful enough, room temperature is also an issue, real cold room is not good.
Kelvin Smith no the bulb is correct and the room temp is 68 Fahrenheit

My lava lap is acting weird. Most of the wax has melted up and can’t tell if it’s going down fast or slow.
Did you change the bulb? I changed my bulb and it started doing the same thing. I just changed the bulb again from a 25 watt bulb to a 45 watt bulb and it is acting the way it should.
You know what they say, "Real men don't drink beer and real men have Lava Lamps in the bedroom".

Me I did this last Christmas and I love it I got the tye dye lava lamp with the green and yellow liquid and lava wax and just got it uboxed and set up for the first time 👍

I bought mine a cpl weeks ago, have had it plugged in, the power on, and nothing has happened. Do I need a new bulb?
Recently I bought exactly the same model as yours but, in comparison, mine looks like a little bit cloudy. How many times I need to do what you said when this happens?
Then u probably shaked it while in motion if you did do that take the plug off and don't use id for 8 or 9 hours. Hope this helps❤
My bulb and the part I screw it into is loose and isn't secured, the thing it screws into I can pull out is that good? Is mine broken?

When I used mine for the first time the wax was really transparent and clear but after the second time it went green like it’s supposed to
I literally bought a brand new one because I got s defective one but this one the lave stirs at the top and doesn't come back down and the lava at the bottom just doesn't flow either idk what to do

So mine js has wax onj the roof of the bottle and it wont flow anymore, and I have that exact brand
The coil helps break up the surface tension of the wax, not heating it

I haven't started mine up because the light bulb came broken and the replacement is still shipping. The wax on the bottom that hasn't melted yet has come out of place and is sitting on it's side. Do you think that will make it take longer for it to melt for the first time?
It may take a little longer. But I’d think that it will only be a matter of minutes.
i just purchased one from spencers and it did not include a cap, very disappointed as it is the last one they had in that specific design so i know i will not get the one i wanted, your video showed me wehre the cap would have been located if it was included, in mine instead the bulb was in the bubble wrap
I left it alone like instructed then my lava lamp did a huge swirl to the top and it’s not on the bottom now. Is that normal

I have the exact same lamp but it fell one time and now when I plug it in the lamp does not work I don’t know what to do, the coil is also on it’s side is it just broken forever?
The bulb is still working ok!
I could imagine that the lava could start flowing again if you leave it on for a longer timer. With the coil not in the correct place, it probably takes a lot longer to warm up enough.
My coil was stuck on the side as well. When heated CAREFULLY swirl the globe by moving the stand back and forth between your hands (as if you are trying to start a fire with a stick). You can wear oven mitts if it is too hot. You should see the coil fall until it is aligned in place. Don't shake the globe, as he said, just give a swirl and be patient. This fixed mine!
Hi, is it normal for the silver base of the lamp to heat up to the touch? Seems to be very hot and i am worried about it damaging furniture or whatever. Plus I don't want it to start any fires. Let me know if you can. Thank you!
Hi, my base also gets pretty hot to the touch.
It should have some bumpers on the bottom, preventing the heat from being transferred to the furniture. I hope those exist on your lava lamp as well. Otherwise I’d be concerned as well.
I got a lava lamp yesterday and it kept on gong on or off so my dad thought you had to shake it so thanks for the help.

Hay I have that same exact one I just bought today I'm so lucky but mine looks nothing like that instead the wax and bottom went a lot to the side and so far there only one big bubble that I don't know if I'll move and I just found the wax broke and I think it's hard but weight a minute it looks much better and in shape but some bubbles are piling up on top and I keep hearing these breaking sounds from the wax
The first time when I turned it on the wax took a long time to go up and down.
I think what you are seeing is normal
I found one in Spencer’s 😅 never been in that store and it was a complete surprise

what if the lamp didn’t run for a full 2 hours and I turn it off, is that bad?
That is totally ok. It just mean s that the battery was not completely empty yet.

Yes, it has to stay on.
I got my lamp but someone that packaged it shook it and I got it with the wax sideways floating in the liquid
Turn it on and after about 2 hrs make sure that the mettle ring is sitting properly on the bottom.

Mine was the same color as yours but mine (after 5-6 months) it faded. It was a nice deep purple but then it's all pinkish inside and no I didn't shake it.
Is the glass from the bottom of the lava lamp supposed to touch the bulb? Mine touches and I’m using the bulb it says to use.
I just checked on my lamp. The bulb is very close to the button of the bottle, but it does not quite touch.
I bought a lava lamp today that's exactly identical to the one in your video, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to glow or not when it heats up for the first time. I feel like maybe I have a bad bulb because no part of the lamp lights up when I turn it on.
If I remember right, it does not glow a whole lot in the beginning while the wax is heating up

i just got this exact brand lava lamp yesterday and it’s a 11.5” and i ran it for at least 6 hours last night and it didn’t bubble and i turned it off for the night and i’m running it again rn and it’s been at least 2 hours and it just now as i’m typing this the bubble floated up to the top but it’s not bubbling like it should what does that mean
the bubble just came back to the bottom and it’s just sitting there in a egg shape sort of
It sounds like the liquid is not getting warm enough.

The cool thing is I was talking a picture of my new lava lamp and suprize I saw a big bubble go up on my phone of my lava lamp then I look at my lava lamp and I was surprised and like wow that was cool and that I named my lava lamp raven get it causes it glows like a rave so raven

just got an original lava lamp for Xmas..always wanted purple wax. Wax and coil was stuck on the side of the glass and wouldn't budge. Had to heat it for 3 hirs so I could settle it to the bottom. There's hard wax stuck at the top of the bottle, some on the very bottom sides at the widest point, can't dislodge it, the glass has pimple marks and divots in it, there wax marks that look like smears all around the bottom edges, lots of particles floating in the water and the wax is raspberry colored, not purple. what a let down. Manufacture date is 3/23/21

Are you in Ireland ? There’s a place in Galway called it’s magic have this exact colour lava lamp . It’s not on there website but they have it in store if your still looking for one

@@skylarmaialo4536 hey Skylar. The 2nd time I used it, it actually started to work as it should. I've used it several times since and works perfectly normal. I'm just assuming it's a breaking in period. Try again tomorrow and the day after and see how it goes

What if my wax isn't on the bottom and instead on an angle
In case the wax just sits there and does not move after a while, I’d try to use a blow dryer to warm it up a bit until it starts to melt.

Yeah me too I had it on for 9 hours and it’s just a blob that occasionally floats up about an inch and then drops back down
@@wolfcub1835 I got mine at an estate sale so I'm pretty sure the bulb needs to be replaced. because the bulb is so old I don't think it heats the wax-up enough

I bought one from Walmart and plugged it in and sat here rolled a joint and looked back and noticed this lava wasn’t moving, as soon as you said it’ll take about two hours I looked over and the side began to rise up..🎉🎉🎉 So for the first time its gonna take a minute… whew… why they don’t say that on the instructions???
