Hello Wild Ones! Thanks for stopping by this video, this is my second attempt building a natural shelter and my first attempt building one using tools - I am learning and I'm sure lots of others are too so please stick your bushcrafty tips & tricks in the comments for us all 👇🏼☺ Have a lovely eve :D 💚🌿🐻 Claire

From the 'glamping' to the wild camping on the side of stormy mountains and now on to the bushcraft, things you like to see :) . Once you take your first walk down 'Bushcraft Road' there's no going back, lady :) .
Bushcraft tips? Learn the basic knots, you only need to master a few of them. Here's 2 of the best videos on that subject:
      Bushcraft Essential Knots: ruclips.net/video/Ajl5F6iUZ_s/видео.html
      The 3 Essential KNOTS for Tarps | Camping & Bushcraft | : ruclips.net/video/de2SgkVBybo/видео.html
Learn your plants and fungi, it's amazing what we walk past in the woods and don't even realise it: ruclips.net/user/WildFoodUK1videos (Their book is superb too)
Another great channel: ruclips.net/user/AlfieAestheticsvideos (not for snowflakes)
Warning: There's one plant out there, Claire, that can be best descibed as Britain's answer to the triffid and I'm not joking when I say that. It's deadly and can easily maim and injure anyone who touches it. Here's Alfie's video on this: ruclips.net/video/dJRPfBWXBww/видео.html (learn to identify this plant)
Congrats on your first real bushcraft video, it was a pleasure to watch it.

@@wolfenstein6676 Hi Wolf! Thank you so much, I had a blast with this and I'm so pleased how it went :D
Yesss I really need to learn knots. I've tried a few times and even been shown by a friend but most of them I seem to forget as soon as I've learnt them.. not doing them often enough I suppose.
I've heard a lot about the giant hogweed, causes blindness & all sorts doesn't it!
Thank you so much for the useful links, I'll do some watching when I've got a bit of time and thank you for watching my attempt at this, I'm looking forward to trying more in future :) 🌿💚 Claire

Agree 100%. Incredibly tired of all the military bros showing off their 2000$ equipment with their SUV in the background, acting as if their life depends on their 200$ hatchet and explaining to me how to use their 80$ magnesium stick to make a campfire that they almost always cook just meat on and nothing else, probably to prove how "manly" they are, completely ignorant to the fact that red meat leads to high blood pressure and------okay, i'm gonna stop here, i just wanna enjoy the video. 🤣

I feel sorry for anyone that has never ever experienced the woods coming alive in the very early break of day. The unique feeling you get seeing everything wake up and come alive with the scent, sounds and sights is something no one can accurately describe with words. The coldest time of any day is that time the sun rays peek over the horizon. A light cold breeze cuts across the land as the Earth wakes up. Thumbs Up!

Nice job. A few suggestions from an old camper. Lash your tripod before standing it up. It will be stronger. Depending on the situation(land ownership), cut and use thin saplings to weave through the frame and side sticks. This will make it stronger and better resist high winds. As you collect leaves, save the dry ones for the floor of the shelter so that you will sleep warmer. After all of the leaves are in place on the top, use more sticks and saplings to keep them in place. I used to make the tripod with two 9' legs and one 13' leg. This slept 4 boys very comfortably. For that we had also built a front wall with a small door that was covered by a poncho. It was below 20*F that night. Good Luck, Rick

    • @richardharmon647
      @richardharmon647 11 месяцев назад +2

Yeah I was thinking that to have a door would help retain the heat in there a little better. The poncho suggestion is a good option for that.

Hi Tony, aw thank you, it turned out so much better than I imagined it would, and so cosy too. I've only tried something like this once before and it was a bit of a mess that one haha, still fun though. Hope you have a wonderful evening :) 🌿💚Claire

Hi Claire, I have to say this was one of the most enjoyable vlogs you have done. Building your own shelter and getting to enjoy it for 2 nights is no small thing, and it was easy to see the pride and happiness it brought you. I have to say you are one of the most nature-amicable Bushcrafter/Wildcampers on RUclips. Even when struggling with weather, wildlife, or terrain, you still seem to inwardly enjoy the experience of being there. I think the harshest thing I've ever heard you say was to scold a slug as being "Rude" for exploring the inside of your mug. Keep that, it's a wonderful quality! Warmest regards from Canada (It's currently -34C)

Hi Sean, aw yay I'm so glad you enjoyed it, I had the best time with this 😍 something so satisfying and cosy about making your own little home in the woods. Yeh I really do love it, difficulties out in the wild are much 'nicer' difficulties that modern-day-life-stresses I find. Woww that is insanely cold!! I'm kinda envious, all summer I've been excited for frost and snow and I've not been able to find any, even up north. Hoping they'll be some before the winter is out. Thank you so much for the lovely comment and for watching my first proper go at this :) Claire 💚🌿

Aloha Claire, just watched your latest vid. That was excellent, Corporals Corner would be mighty proud of you. I reckon you could do just about anything you set your mind on. It’s lovely to see how much fun you have, and how much you enjoy life. I myself am off for a wander in the woods tomorrow, so your vid has inspired me to really get a ton of happiness from the outdoors. Thank you so much for this channel, and your infectious positivity. Take care and be well, Aloha. Simon from Bristol xx

Claire, your adventures over the past year have allowed you to build an exceptional outdoor skillset. The editing of these videos and the musical genre is also very impressive. I’m always amazed at how you weave all of this together to make it look so darn easy.... its not!!! No doubt, you are motivating many others here to get off the couch.

Heyy, aw thank you so much :D I feel like I'm learning loads as I go (tonnes more to learn of course haha). Well the videos are a result of my various hobbies, outdoorsy stuffs & photography, which morphed into film-making, so it's really enjoyable for me to create them. I feel really fortunate that others like to watch them too - tis a nice creative outlet for me. Thank you so much for joining me on this lil trip 🌿💚 and have a lovely eve :) Claire

Hi claire little tip... Use the back of your hatchet to knock the stakes in for your fire wall, just incase one snaps when your pushing it in the ground... Great vid 👌 all the best 😉

Claire, that was so good! You did a great job of the shelter and, what an effort it was to bring it down. You certainly made it strong and the triangle design is a winner!
The firewall was such a clever design. Loved the idea of creating slots to drop the logs into, which wouldn’t have occurred to me. Shame the logs were a bit wonky, but you could always plug those gaps with mud and leaves.
Really enjoyed seeing you do something a wee bit different 👍🏻

Great stuff Claire! What a fantastic way to spend a couple of days, away from the rat race, enjoying nature and having fun. Brilliantly edited, the music and camera work was spot on. Jealous of the cold weather, it's in the mid to high 30's in Melbourne, Aus. at the moment. That was one tough hut!!

Good day lovely shelter as long as you keep the sparks away from it
Trick for making fire wood without a saw
Right behind your shelter is a tree with a V in it
Take the branches you want to "cut" down to size put one end in the V of the tree 6 in 12 in what ever works for you
Then push or pull the branch it should snap off at whatever size you need
NOTE some wood is very fibery that kind does need a saw
    Have a good week

The ferro rod experts say you should keep your ferro rod stationary and drag the back of your knife down it aiming to strip molten metal off it to start the fire. Apparently it's a more reliable way of doing it. Obviously you need a good quality knife as well but that will be handy for many other things as well.

Hola!..... 🙋🏻‍♂️saludos.....
