On a hot August day in 1977...Elvis died! At 42 years old! I couldn't believe it! My husband picked me up from work and we went to my parents home. It was as if a family member had died! All 3 channels (before cable) carried only live coverage about his death! I grew up loving this gorgeous and very generous man. I've been to Graceland (his home) many times. I made certain my 3 daughters knew who he was...and what love and joy he showed the world. I had 5 foreign exchange students from Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan reside with me. The only request was to go to Graceland!!! Of course I took them!!!

I lived in Charleston Mississippi. My husband at the time worked in Memphis Tennessee, the streets was so backed up that it took my husband almost 24 ours to get home. The whole world moaned his death.
