Mark 2, the most iconic, but Stormbringer & Burn are among my favorite records overall.
Love how Blackmore gave us his best “soul/funky” solo on Hold On (even if it wasn’t his thing). Truly a master of this craft.
I’m a big fan of Richie! His phrasing is outstanding!!!! Especially on hold on - blues meets Blackmore: killer!

Everybody knows their unforgettable songs like smoke on the water, woman from Tokyo, child in time and perfect stranger, but there’s a lot more! This episode was about the more unknown side of Deep Purple. We just could touch a bit of Deep Purple MK 3 and MK4… Thanks to our special guest Vitek Spacek who plays mainly songs from that era with David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes with his band “Purple family” we did shed some light on what Purple did in the mid seventies…
It feels like we should do more episodes on the many formations of that legendary band and their guitar players: Richie Blackmore, Tommy Bolin, Joe Satriani, Steve Morse and nowadays Simon Mc Bride…

Thomas, I won a bunch of strings in a holiday BluGuitar contest, and you included a pair of those Home Plate picks.
They were a game changer! I've been playing 40+ years, and I've never had something as simple as a PICK completely change my playing! I've used many styles and gauges over the years, but the Home Plate added so much to my right hand technique and control.
I'm so glad I can get them here in the states! I can't thank you enough. It's amazing sometimes how a simple thing can have such a huge impact.

Geile Episode, hatte den Vitek gar nicht auf dem Schirm, dabei habe ich ihn schon gesehen. Da habe ich heute mein Craaft Ticket heraus gegraben. Hyde Park Osnabrück, 25.10.1988, Wahnsinn, wo bleibt nur die Zeit….

Of course the pick is important to articulate like Ritchie Blackmore, you sent me a bunch of them a few year ago, and they are great. Blue, black and translucent ones. I have others made by Bernd and original Blackmore ones.
I think the other important part of the Blackmore style/tone is the string gauge = Picato 10/11/14/26/38/48 Ritchie used. Some licks are more evident and "easy" to reproduce, like for example the 3 string sweep on "Burn" and "Child In Time" with this gauge. In a way, it seems more logical...
Great to mention Tommy Bolin, who was in a complete different style than Ritchie and made a great album. Great tone and play too ! "Come taste the band" is really great, funky rock soul !
