To be fair, Diddy just signed mgk to Bad Boy. He never really produced his music like Dre does for his artists. mgk's best friend and day one, Slim XX produced most of his songs. Em is the goat, I'm a long time fan and I'll never deny his greatness. But it didn't hurt that Dre put him on and vouched for him in a time when white rappers weren't taken too seriously. I was a senior in high school in 1999 when The Slim Shady LP came out. It wasn't until people heard him rapping on Dre beats, mentioning Dre in My Name Is and rapped with Dre on guilty conscience that he started to create a buzz. It was like, if Dre signed this dude he must be legit. And of course he was, but it doesn't change that he had the greatest hip hop producer of all time producing his first couple studio albums. I've been a fan of both of these guys since early in their careers. So I'm just trying to be objective and unbiased.

To be fair, Diddy just signed mgk to Bad Boy. He never really produced his music like Dre does for his artists. mgk's best friend and day one, Slim XX produced most of his songs.
Em is the goat, I'm a long time fan and I'll never deny his greatness. But it didn't hurt that Dre put him on and vouched for him in a time when white rappers weren't taken too seriously. I was a senior in high school in 1999 when The Slim Shady LP came out. It wasn't until people heard him rapping on Dre beats, mentioning Dre in My Name Is and rapped with Dre on guilty conscience that he started to create a buzz. It was like, if Dre signed this dude he must be legit. And of course he was, but it doesn't change that he had the greatest hip hop producer of all time producing his first couple studio albums.
I've been a fan of both of these guys since early in their careers. So I'm just trying to be objective and unbiased.
