- Dogora has long been one of my favorite kaiju in the Toho universe! Unfortunately, its only been in its own solo film, beyond an appearance on Godzilla Island. With the new Godzilla Planet of the Monsters animated movies, we now know that Dogora is part of this universe! Its finally in the same universe as Godzilla! Lets take a look at Dogora and see what we know of it!

They gave me a cameo appearance because they knew I would steal the show.

They used to show this on the 4:30 Movie in NYC back in the day. The monster really spooked me as a little boy, what with its, octopus-like tentacles waving about in the air, and sucking up things and people. It was like a living tornado or a hurricane. I still think it's a scary concept.
To me, Dogora needs more love. He’s such a unique creature and I think that they should make another film with him.
Legendary Dogora would be both awesome and terrifying
I hope Dogora appears properly in Godzilla: Singular Point. (Even if they mixed him with Hedorah)

I saw the original film when I was a kid a enjoyed it. Dogora is definitely underrated.
This is one of my favorite obscure kaiju films, as it works just as well without the monster. The heist action is fairly tight, with some memorable characters and consequences. By the way, if you go back and play Godzilla: Monster of Monsters, in the background of certain levels, you will see outline drawings of Dogora monsters! I saw these as a child, but had yet to learn what they were.
Well, I am kinda new to this entire Kaiju fandom thing, so almost every non godzilla related Kaiju is news to me. But Dogora sounds really fucking cool. Would love to see more of it in the future.

This sounds like an interesting unknown kaiju that the Legendary Monsterverse can introduce.
This would make an interesting Godzilla villain. I think it would be interesting in a film where people stopped interfering with Godzilla’s fights, but after Godzilla attempts time and time again to kill Dogora, more keep showing up. In the end the humans are forced to defend themselves as the Dogora swarm Godzilla and start consuming him, and begin attacking the cities as well. In the end, humans end up saving Godzilla using science to determine Dogora’s weakness to venom.

I grew up in the 80s & 90s loving Godzilla and ToHo films. There was this Nintendo game called "Godzilla Monster of Monsters" and during the walkway scenes it clearly had Dogora in the background and maybe a large Matango mushroom too. Godzilla and Mothra also fought ToHo monster that are not part of the Godzilla universe at that time. Gezora, Moguera, Varan and Baragon. It might be the first Godzilla video game not sure, but it's outdated and weird. Hope you can find some scenes.
I have the game. It wasn't very good, but there wasn't much godzilla stuff back then, so i played it anyway, and liked all the other monster cameos like you mentionded. Still have a copy, but I usually play the ps4 game if I'm craving some godzilla video gaming.

What if Dogora mutates into Hedorah?
Other than bringing back door of the way that he originally was if I were to use this monster again either I would have it be something that splits off from Godzilla that he can use to redirect his atomic breath at Kaiju from different directions or I would have it be related to hedora either being a creature that evolved from the same substance or probably being a previous form before it transforms in to hedora like it came here to consume cold but after being hit with venom and coming in contact with pollution it transformed into hedora
Either way I really love this monster and I hope to see it again on the big screen

This is why I love this channel. Sadly I've never seen Dogara the Space Monster but because of this video I can still understand the movie (or at least the monster).
I didn't know of the movie for years either man! I got it in a Godzilla bulk ebay collection a long time ago, and it took years before I watched it! Glad I did, especially seeing him pop up again!!!

Does anyone know if Dogoro the Space Monster is available English subtitled on either DVD or Blu-Ray? I've only seen part of the dubbed version on TV when I was a kid, and want to see the Japanese version of this overlooked kaiju flick. Interesting movie, even though Dogoro appears only an hour into the film, and has limited screen time. I see it as a commentary about an alien entity living off coal and diamonds as a plunderer of natural resources. Kinda like a space jellyfish. 😎😸💎💎💎

It should be remade into a new film, except altered slightly to make more sense - like changing what the monster is susceptible to, the spider/bee venom is sort of silly and doesn’t make much sense at all- and removed Godzilla altogether. I like Godzilla but this kaiju is actually more interesting than Godzilla himself, and it could be a hell of a sci-fi horror film if they worked it the right way.
