Love this, as someone new to the hobby it's nice to see someone with fish admit they don't know everything and make mistakes. Hope we can learn together
I really appreciate this video. Will- your tanks are gorgeous. Your care and passion are obvious! Kudos to you for sharing your tanks and inspiring your neighbors! Cichlids Bros- thank you for visiting hobbyists and sharing their learning journeys. I’ve only been in the hobby 2 1/2 years now, and it helps to hear from others who are at various stages of the hobby. It also shows you can have incredible tanks while learning! Great content!
Thanks Bros for all the DC uploads. It's been a pleasure viewing them all! Also, I feel like I am in the same fishing boat (lol) with him and his knowledge within the hobby. He's learned a lot from experience and want to continue to learn more down the road. Great video and tour! Have a great new year Bros!
Gotta love this Guy's attitude. Humble but progressing fast and full of enthusiasm. If he's like that at work or in business he's prob going to end up a very rich Guy... If he isn't already!
Gorgeous aquascapes, gorgeous fish! Will is a fantastic role model for the fish community: someone who devotes a ton of time to research, someone who can acknowledge their successes and their failures, and someone who is constantly willing to learn and try things to get better results. I learned a lot in this video, as well as got a fair bit of inspiration for future tanks in my own home. Great video lads!
Thank you very much for sharing the stories of fish keepers in the DMV. They are good representatives of the passion and interest shared by so many. Not sure if there's any fish interest groups in the area.
Planted tank. Especially a huge plywood. Less cleaning. Lots and lots of plants. I like how your so quickly getting pulled to the biome style. Nature is an amazingly designed machine.
This is my first comment on this channel, what a wonderful video, this gentleman has great set ups and he has chosen a beautiful variety of fish and it’s so nice to see his enthusiasm for it and that the neighbourhood kids can come over and enjoy it, there are such wonderful people in this hobby and this gentleman approves how awesome fish keepers are
Wow!!!! Absolutely love the tank with the Rose line Sharks, super jealous of their colors! Great video gentlemen….love seeing people that are doing it big and still leaning along the way! Seeing that beautiful Jack Dempsey and Green Terror may have inspired me to build a new tank around those 2 fish🥳
Will and his beautiful tanks literally brought tears to my eyes. I love his room and his attitude. Is the red peacock a German Red? He obviously takes good care of his fish.
What a great fish room, thank you for sharing! I find it soothing and satisfying to watch my fish grow and have babies. My tanks keep GROWING! Thanks again.
i had Cichlid tanks off and on for over 35 years my largest was 2 10000 gallon tanks i set up as a 90 degree corner tank. i connected with a Custom made Swim tube that connected them as one this is a great demonstration of some well balanced and cared for tanks i did not know the Catfish “Trick “ as i. did use the Plecos for very long times that did get too big too fast btw i had a Red Oscar. that lived in my Living Room for 17 years he was trained to live feed out of my Finger tips !
I'm still on my Mbuna quest! Last night I grabbed a red ob zebra and a thick bar chitimba.. Alot of those fish that you grabbed from tampa are also on my list and I just might give them a try.. I really want a luwino reef !
A couple of the tanks seemed a little crowded to my eye, Cichlids are very susceptible to stress at the best of times, throw in the aggressive nature of their mating idiosyncracies, and the potential for disaster can be realized in no time at all. With several kinds of species, sexing them becomes impossible, and if you mess up the Jack's Dempsey...All bets are off as to the casualties. lol... @@CichlidBros
Can you please make a video about how to prevent and remove cyanobacteria? There is a lot of contradictory information regarding this subject. Thanks for your time!
@@williamallbrooks7250 No biggie. Based on the video it looked like you were wanting to have them bio-grouped. Really nice looking tanks and fish by the way - well done!
It really is the best advice, doing one's own research is paramount. It's a little unsettling that over five years Will lost that many fish, hopefully, that happened more in the beginning than recently. I've kept Cichlids for about 20 years and can count on one hand the fish that died prematurely. An Oscar and a Red Dev, both to vanity and ignorance as to live diets (which I discontinued), and three of seven Pirahnas whose gender offended the matriarchal pecking order and were Darwined for our collective ineffective sexing of most fish within the hobby. Being self-taught isn't as rewarding as it sounds when the losses are so high, and when the only reliable breeders are the Bue Cons, the price gets excessive... ( To get the other fish breeding, I found once a pair is established, get them into a 50 gal alone, after a week, a few good water changes, bring the heat up a few degrees and lots of aeration usually triggers the cycle in American Cichlids. (The obvious exception is the Blood Parrots, who are notoriously inept at procreation, swimming, eating, biting, and pretty much everything else we take for granted...lol, I'm not sure we did them any favors by playing god, but I adore mine... A follow-up would be cool in Will's post-renovation setup, I'm confident the losses will stop now, Will knows his shit and continues to absorb advice from good sources. He's obviously 'tank proud' and has every right to be. *My Dempseys are abt 10 inches, and I know they are huge. Will's is easily the biggest I've seen it's impressive and has a cool temperament, they are tricky beasts and easily the toughest to breed without staggering losses of adult females. However, I have four Oscars in two 140 setups that dwarf his (the smallest is 5 years and 15 in length!)
I will never keep Texas cichlids again. I ended up with a breading pair by chance. He’d attack my hand when doing tank maintenance without a brood to protect. With fry…forget about it
Chiclid bros helppp my established tank for 5 months that I have been battling on and off with extended bacterial blooms I thought I had it down and it was good for 3 weeks then I left for two days and it’s worse than ever I getting ready to give up
Tank is nice but what exactly is he planning to breed? Way too many different males to produce a pure species. I like hybrids but it’s a shame you see them more often than you do some of the natural fish.
I love that he’s in deep but still learning. And making it work. Fair play to the dude
He’s so down to earth and open to learning. His tanks are beautiful!
Props to this dude for having these monster tanks and still learning. Shout out DMV!

Looks like you made yet again a new friend in the hobby. I like his interest in everything. Beautiful tanks. Thanks for the awesome tour.
Love those setups, especially the 125 with the roseline sharks and tiger barbs. That background he’s using is stunning !
What an amazing fish keeper! Props to him for learning from his mistakes and making the best choices for his fish!

10,000 gallons? That’s crazy
@@TorraYT Theres no way a corner tank is 10,000 gallons, he must have added too many 0's!
I'm guessing that's a typo, 20,000 usgals x 9.ish lbs = a minimum of 48 metric tonnes of water and equipment. I've seen smaller fish farms...lol

Nice tanks I was looking to get a 75 gallon tank how many cichlids do you think I could put in it
I really, really hope he's planning on upgrading that 75; those fish are going to grow very quickly and overcrowd it.
Yeah like what he was saying throughout the video, he learns and makes changes. And not afraid of upgrading

Nice tanks, how much time does it take each month to maintain all these?

There’s two Texas cichlids in the tank, including in the upper left of the part you’re mentioning

What kind of filtration are been used here?
Mostly canister filters

I could be wrong but it looks like he has a Red Zebra (Mbuna) in his peacock tank.

I didn’t see anything. All I this video was was a weather warning system for intense snow fall on the east coast in Washington DC area
Great great video a fish keepers dream to have all these fishes in one setting

What is a good sand substrate for South American cichlid
I like sunset gold sand from Carib sea
