I think I spend more time under my car than driving it LOL. Thanks for all your vids this year Gary, I have enjoyed them immensely! Looking forward to 2023, see ya next year!
Sir I have a very important question to ask. On a frame of restoration process, should you check this frame inspection alignment before or after removing the body from the frame before working the panels. Or does it matter? Thanks for the video, very informative. Or can anyone care to answer my question, please more the better. Would the motor and transmission being removed make a difference on the frame inspection? In advance, thanks to all. Respond soonest if possible.
This is a great question thank you for asking I find quite often most people tend to omit checking the frame before undergoing a complete restoration only to find ride height issues in the end that cannot be corrected fter car is panted etc , most frame shops can preform a check on either the bare frame or with the body still attached or the suspension still attached either is good and it's such an important step ensuring the foundation of your project is first sound , I should also note make sure the shop your dealing with has the factory specs on your chassis and provides you with the paperwork ensuring your in spec , simple X measurement are not enough thanks again for asking this is such an important start
Great info Gary. It looks like you spend a lot of time under the car. It’s just as spotless as the top. I think the eighty dollars buyer inspection is worth every cent to have an experts eye look things over. Thanks for sharing.
Happy New Year Gary!!!! All great tips and like Blair I have spent numerous hours under my cars.....LOL Thanks for a great 2022 and I look forward to seeing more from you in 2023!!!!
Happy new year to you also Mike it's been a fun year and I look forward to what 2023 brings us and I can't wait for updates from you and Blair in the new year 😊
Hi Gary love your videos but I have a question for you about my 85 caprice classic so my doors on my car are pretty rusty and this car is all original and wanting to keep them but was told I need to find new doors so my question is where can I find doors for this car as I can’t find anything anywhere
Hey Kevin sorry to hear you're having trouble, they made just shy of 140,000 85 caprice classics you would think some are still out there however I realize some things are getting harder to find, the first call I would make to Ken Messet sorry I don't have his number but he's a local chevy guy also scouts auto parts , failing that if it's a rust issue a good body man can make new skins for the doors , because there is a chance the used doors out there may be suffering the same fate as your own, please keep me posted
@@garythegear oh wow didn’t know there where that many made. I think I have his number I’ll have to look if I don’t have luck with that what body shop would do such a thing
A body shop may be a little pricey especially if there charging by the hour for hand made panels, there's lots of folks out there with the ability to do this , keep your ear close to the ground maybe put a post on some of the face book page's and include pictures of the doors , see what comes up , certainly you can get quotes from several body shops and see what they say but there's lots of options for sure
