- make sure to watch part 2....jonathan brandis last 2 scenes he ever filmed mirror the 2 scenes from star wars..his 2nd last scene is when the girl comforts him ..it is simliar to when anakin is complaining about obi wan to padme..and the last scene is when he confronts his dad which is similar to anakin confronting obi wan who he thinks is preventing him from becoming the most powerful ....
so not only are these the only 2 scenes in the history of tv and movies that are nearly the same out of all the actors in the world these 2 are the most simlar actors ..hayden christensen always plays vulnerable types like in higher ground while jonathan did too like in sidekicks and never ending story 2. they act in similar roles, look the same, tried out for the same part..
open up part 1 and part 2 side by side and youll see what im talking about. the timing, the facial expressions the way there is a girl sitting as they both sit there takling about problems and the problem being the dad/obi wan mirror eachother. he even mentions jedi before the 2 similar scenes to his sister..all i did was use the 2 scenes played in full i didnt cut the scenes or move things around and put the audio from 2 star wars scenes with it. they are talking about similar things ...........i even left in a bit of audio at the 2:07 part of both vids to show how theyre so similar. . makes you wonder did not getting that role play a part..

in addition to being a gifted actor, in his later years he had such an intense look, he could've played so many roles, leading man roles, good guys, bad guys, dramas, action, indie, and he looked different enough from his teen idol days that he wouldn't be tied down by them. It's such a shame he took his life, especially over what he thought of as a failing career, because he had so much potential.
Jonathan is a better actor than Hayden Christensen.
oh my gosh. jonathan brandis would have been a PERFECT anakin. i don't care that he was maybe a little old for anakin's age, he could have made it work and been excellent in the role! he was so handsome and his acting was good, SO much better than whiny hayden christensen! christensen seriously made the star wars movies he was in SO AWKWARD and laughable. jonathan brandis with his lovely deep husky voice and awesomeness would have been fantastic.
i think it's so unfair.
He would have made a much better Anakin Skywalker than Hayden Christensen. If he had gotten it, Brandis would still be walking among us today
I dont get it, why is it not him talking ? and in the part 2 it is him talking, and not himat th screen ? what ??
very interesting...I was actually thinking of whether they considered him for the role of anakin skywalker..I guess I'm not the only one. What a shame...he had the world and a bright future and didn't know it...
Interesting indeed. Your skills are impressive. But you are not a Jedi yet. I wish they had cast him in the role of Anakin. His performance would have been a bit less stiff.
that's Jonathan Brandes? holy shit, didn't recognize him at first. I just found out about his suicide and I can't believe it. I'm almost in tears.
I mean, look! Ladybugs, IT, Seaquest, Neverending Story, Sidekicks. Good movies! He had so much talent and he would have had more smash hits by now.

An astute observation. Now, I know I'm gonna catch some flack for this, but really, Jonathan would not have been better than Hayden for the role of Anakin. Jonathan would have had trouble appearing young and impetuous at age 24. However, with that said, Brandis was very good at acting both juvenile and misguided...and he was dark. Ep2 made when JB was 16, then Ep3 made when he was 24--that would have been perfect. But other roles also exist that may have been perfect too...very sad.

Okay, now that I'll have raging fans screaming four-letter words at me in my inbox, I feel it necessary to add that I loved Jonathan as an actor...and he was definitely better than Hayden Christensen. Furthermore, George Lucas is a loony idiot who can't write or direct for crap. His "artistic" vision ruined all 6 Star Wars and made fools of all the actors working for him. Okay, I've said my peace...let the scathing e-mails commence!
