Wow! Great instructional video! Excellent pace, clarity of voice, and really nice detailed instruction. I got it so quickly I can't believe it. Thank you!
I'm so glad to have found you! You speak my language. South, haha. Very clear instructions, no annoying musical background, grrr. Thank you again, I'm subscribed can't wait for another. Deb in Texas
Merci pour cette vidéo très bien faite. Je ne comprends pas l'anglais pourtant j'ai réussi à comprendre vos explications. Génial ! je m'abonne à votre chaine.
I just finished my scarf using 100% Superwash Merino Wool Fingering Weight to wear in warmer weather. I made it 72 inches long and 5 shells in width in colors of pink, white and burgundy. Can't wait to wear it. Thank you for a lovely pattern!
Hello, so glad to have found your tutorial. I needed a pattern that is fast for a throw, uncomplicated with nice straight edges. Absolutely ideal. Thank you very much.
Very easy stitch to make my scarves that I've been giving away to anyone that needs or wants one. I give them to homeless and non homeless people, I don't discriminate. Thank you for this easy stitch and tutorial. Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!! God Bless you and your family, also!
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING THIS VIDEO, I AM AMAZED HOW THIS REALLY TURNED OUT TO BE. I LIKE THIS PATTERN BETTER THAN THE OTHERS I BEEN WATCHING SO FAR THIS IS THE BEST 1 THAT I LIKE. I ALSO STARTED 1 WITH 4 COLORS IN THE YARN CALLED "FLAPPER GIRL" I LOVE THIS YARN FROM HOBBY LOBBY TURNED OUT TO BE VERY BEAUTIFUL WITH ALL THE COLORS IN THAT YARN. IM ALSO DOING ANOTHER 1 WITH A DIFFERENT COLOR OF YARN AND DIFFERENT BRAND NAME. THANK YOU AGAIN
This is working out well for me. I bought a thin yarn, using a D hook I had to double the yarn but its looking so pretty at 5 shells 5 rows. Thank you for sharing this. :)
Very good explication. That way i can follow you good. Keep it that way because for a beginner you have to do it good like that.thank you. Just subscribe
I wanted to post a picture of what I have done so far but was not sure where to post it and was not sure which one was your Facebook because there was a few of them but I did post it on my page
It’s also called the “Iris stitch”, or the “Fancy Lace Stitch”. It’s an oldie, but a goodie. I love it! It’s a chameleon in that it looks completely different when using different hooks and yarn.
Im a beginner and ive learned so much and so many new stitches watching your tutorials!!i used this stitch for a table runner and i want to add a border, any ideas??Thank you!!!
I have a BIG question...……..I've now created my afghan using your instructions...…..thank you!! When I am on the final row of shells and it's time to cut it off, how do I do this and where...….should I single crochet into my shells so that they look similar to how the began in the beginning? Thank you.....Kathleen
Do you recommend doing a boarder on this? I made a baby blanket. But not sure if I should finish it off with a boarder . I did 3 rows of white then a row of blue and repeated.
hi thank you for the video and your time i was wondering what do you mean by blocking , and also what would be a good border for this stitch as i am going to make a baby blanket . Thank you again
Gail, I have an Instructional Tutorial on "Blocking a Project" here on my channel so i would encourage you to view that to learn the technique as its very important on many projects:)..It will be in my Playlist labeled "Tips, Tricks, & Techniques"..as for the a border for this type stitch, I have moto i go by when applying a border for my projects, if its a busier pattern, i like to use less of a busier border if that makes sense..and vise versa..for this one, i would more than likely do a few rows of sc, then maybe do a row, alternating (dc, sc) in same stitch, then end on a sc row..but i enjoy working this combo..just a simple border but adds a little character, not to override the pattern itself:)..Good luck and Happy Hookin!
Im sorry i dont understand..what do u mean how do u finish???you finish it when you have reached your desired length..then cut your yarn and add border or whatever you like
I'm trying to learn how to crochet how did start your chain. Before you start making your shells I get that part. Just the beginning of making the chain. Can you help me please
HI. Thank you for the video. Very much enjoyed it. I have a question on finishing... is there a way to get a straight edge once you are done the blanket? instead of 3 sides being flat edges so to speak on one edge being the shells... I would like to have all 4 sides "flat". can this be done? Thank you
+Jacqueline Martin The stitch is as it is..if you change the dynamics of the shells, but im assuming you are referring to the top, the best i would recommend is add a sc row like i did once we started..but other than that, its not meant to be a flat design..if that is what you are looking for...this may not be the stitch you are looking for...Good luck
Question..... if I want to make a blanket with this stitch how many do I need for my foundation row? I'm new to crocheting and don't quite have the multiples down.
+Kimberley Burgess Well, doing increases is nothing more than adding a stitch ...so with this one, you can try to put in an additional set of 3-dc cluster sts..see if that will help you..but doing the increase on something like this you would have to try and stay with the same stitch or it will not come out with the same look at the end:)
Hi Stitchinstacy, No matter what I do I can`t get the correct amount of stitches in the beginning chain because I always end up with the wrong amount of stitches at the end, can you please help, how many chains should I begin with ,, I only want to practice with a shotr one to start , like under 20?
Luanne Roeder WEll, as stated in the video, you chain in multiples of 6..once you have that done, you just add 3,, so i did 3 sets of 6,, then i added my 3, that gave me 20...so if you want it shorter, do 2 sets of 6..
Hi! Thanks for the video. How do you alternate colors for this kind of stitch? for example pink on the first row and then yellow on the next and so on. Hopefully yoi have time to reply. Thanks in advance!
Well, you change colors at the end/beginning of any row, like you would any other stitch..Not sure how else to explain that one other than just to change your color per row..No different than any other stitch
Ok Thanks! Do you think you can have tutorials on how to make a cone? My daughter asked me if I can make an ear gloves for her furby toy. It's like a cover for its ears. I have just started to learn crochet because of that and have started watching your videos ^_^ thank you for replying!
I just learned that this "Lacy Shell Stitch" is really a "Fan Stitch". Apparently the "Shell Stitch" does NOT have a split in it. I'm interested in finding something I saw & cannot find now s something about an "Irish" stitch? Barely got a glance & it was gone.
+Kittie Jones Cook I dont understand how to help you put a border really..you would need to check out my Playlist of Borders and Trims and choose one you like or search Pinterest, Google, etc for one, then follow the directions..but i dont have a tutorial on doing a border for this one stitch..Good luck and happy hookin!
I'm pretty new to crochet. If I were making a scarf, how would I finish the ends to match? I would have the chain row and the SC row on the beginning end. How would I finish it to match the last row of shells?
I love your video on the Lacy shell stitch. I saw a pattern on "allfreecrochetafghanpatterns.com" on a Lacy Shades of Pink Shells Afghan. I'm new to crochet but would love to make this lacy shells afghan but with the lines in between the shells. Can you read the pattern and possibly do a video to show me how to do that pattern please???
+kadyja brealey I dont follow what you are saying as far as mixing it up..Basically a STITCH PATTERN such as this, works as it is..you make it as long and wide as you want..I dont normally work these STITCH PATTERNS on an increase..i never have, or have i seen them worked on increase..if you want to make them bigger, you make them bigger you do so by chaining in multiples on your foundation chain in the beginning..but I am never gonna say it cant be done because designers of books come up with things all the time, over time..but i will say this, in all my years to date, the STITCHES are what you increase in, not STITCH PATTERNS..I hope that makes sense..
I'm a new crocheter and I've just found your channel and I am so pleased I have! Thank you for such a detailed tutorial and such a pretty stitch 🏵
Wow! Great instructional video! Excellent pace, clarity of voice, and really nice detailed instruction. I got it so quickly I can't believe it. Thank you!

Hello, really enjoyed this crochet lesson. I wanted to ask what type of crochet boarder do you recommend for this pattern? Thank you.
i agree with debs,
Do you recommend doing a boarder on this? I made a baby blanket. But not sure if I should finish it off with a boarder . I did 3 rows of white then a row of blue and repeated.

+Stitchinstacy Thank you for the reply. I just added a sc row like we did in the beginning to finish it off :)
like it, thanks
Would you put a border or fringe on this? I just made a blanket using this
Pattern but I can't decide 🙆
Thank you ❤️
Question..... if I want to make a blanket with this stitch how many do I need for my foundation row? I'm new to crocheting and don't quite have the multiples down.
I would chain 6 multiple times until you reach a length that you would like then chain 3 more then follow the video here
hi I am doing a mermaid tail blanket using this stitch but was wondering if you could help me, how would you do an increase or is it not possible?
+Kimberley Burgess Well, doing increases is nothing more than adding a stitch ...so with this one, you can try to put in an additional set of 3-dc cluster sts..see if that will help you..but doing the increase on something like this you would have to try and stay with the same stitch or it will not come out with the same look at the end:)

thank u so much
HOW DO YOU MAKE THE END OF THIS SCARF LOOK LIKE THE FOUNDATION CHAIN YOU STARTED WITH ON THE OTHER SIDE? ? ? ? ? ?
Thank you!
Does the simple shell stitch need a border?
thank you! how do you do this stitch in the rounds?
Do you have one for the crocodile stitch
Any idea for a border?
How many would u chain to do a shawl for a baby
Sorry twin size I meant thank u again.
How many chain stitches can I do in order to make a curtain.
Stephavnie Johnson huh w ge
Hi do u add an edging
Thanks
Do you think that I can make a curtain out of this pattern.
Ok thank you. But how many chain should I do to make it wider or longer.
Stephanie Johnson I cant answer that ..thats up to you
Do you have a border for it.
Is this in written form anywhere?
I have finished. but dont know how to put on a boarder? Help Please!!!
How would make a hair snood doing that stitch?
You would have to find a pattern on one
I'm pretty new to crochet. If I were making a scarf, how would I finish the ends to match? I would have the chain row and the SC row on the beginning end. How would I finish it to match the last row of shells?
Did you ever get reply? I wonder the same thing. How to end it to match the first rows.
Alma Ramirez You wouldn't have a matching ending. I used this pattern go make infinity scarves and I SC the ends together.
how do you end?
how do you increase can decrease?
+kadyja brealey Same as any other stitch, double your stitch..you will either put an extra cluster or extra 2 clusters in each space
Im sorry i am not authorized to do their patterns..
espasnol
free written pattern anywhere?
ugh i cant learn this T_T
but since this are clusters this will mix up the pattern
O
Not a stitch. It is a pattern! Stitches are sc,dc, tr etc.
Your talking tooo much
