Is that your wife? She seems really sweet, you are a lucky guy.
Now that's Roadkill. 👨🔧
Can't wait for the next one! Liked! ruclips.net/video/qOXEDZ2jcvU/видео.html
the wingnut for the breather was on the passenger fender before he shut the hood at 6:13 or so it looked like it was this things pretty mint tip the generator brushes are probably out which is why it wont put out anything (a way to tell is fire it up if it seems like its revving high the generator needs new brushes) if its not there fuses behind the control panel that may have popped
Ready to see what you bought from the Soddy collocation
What an amazing video Craig, I’ve supported since the start of the 71 f100 build and can truly say this was one of my favorites ever. You should totally do more road trips in unknown classics!! All respect and love!
i would love to take something like this, then complete redo the interior and make it look BRAND SPANKIN NEW!
6.4 mpg is solid for a 460. Running good. If you hit 7.5, probably had the wind at your back.
My momma's is a EFI bored 0.30 over in a 96 Ford f250 super cab long bed aode 4speed automatic transmission with overdrive 3.55 gears and gets 10mpg that's it
Hello I just found your channel and I have to say I love your Rv its beautiful
Ok, Craig, I've always considered a road trip a real test for a relationship. You survived a lengthy ordeal in a vintage RV, with numerous issues, no A/C, and you're been together 2 years? Start looking at rings. She's a Saint!
that's all I could think about lol this woman loves him
The Adjustment you made to the Steering Box is not for reducing play in steering wheel side to side (although it will help) that Adjust is for Preload on the shaft in the box to help keep steering wheel on center. If over Adjusted it will increase effort needed to turn steering wheel or make steering stick if way over adjusted. Hope this Helps.
i spent my whole childhood in the front bunk of one of those at Glamis. very cool camper.
We had one of these when I was a kid. Super badass! Ours had red interior and paint. This is totally giving me flashbacks. Hooray for country campers!
Vary awesome indeed. Vary sweet camper. Awesome. Keep up the great work. Okay.
Unless someone swapped blinker lenses, that’s a 77. Could show a late build 76 on the VIN sticker on the door jamb. I bought a truck from a guy a few years ago and he was selling it as a 76. Ended up being a 77. That’s a cherry of a truck, minus the gas mileage I would love it! Was awesome you were able to share the trip with your girl. 👌🏻
I corrected myself later I accidentally said 76. It’s super nice for its age.
@@Thecraig909 I caught that. I’m super typing my response and like 5 minutes later you’re like, “Oh, it’s a 77”. 😂. The amber turn signals make the 77’s really easy to identify. You can see me with the 77 my dad gave me in my profile pic. Keep the videos coming. Dig the new Mustang as well.
Somebody's trying to one-up Solomon.....hehe. 😉Seriously, once you drove up it looked like a Solomon find. Ford's galore.
U give me so much motivation to go work on my truck I’m 15 and have learned so much by watching your videos I have a 1986 f150 two door short bed 5 litter 2wd and I love watching your videos thanks for helping me and I hope to meet u some day
About 45 mins from my house is a 1971 Bump side version of this. It's been sitting in the same spot for at least 5 years that I know of. Given the age /era of this truck. I'm kinda surprised that the fog lights are not Per-Lux's. They were the in thing back when this truck was new. I always wanted a pair but could never afford some.
How fun ... too cool! 💕👵
Thecraig909 you should definitely buy this and do a cleaning and build videos this truck is sweet
That thing is sweet and perfect for the San Diego since it’s in Padres’ colors.
Love that vintage RV , I live not far from Lebanon , OR. I wish I would have found that , I would have bought it !
That camper is lookin' RIGHT!!
That was an awesome cliffhanger!!!
That’s bad ass, right in my back yard sweet home Lebanon area👌👌🤌🏻
Love this thing. How much was the other F truck?
Inspect and check your hard line and fuel hoese for leaks from the tank to the carb, also make sure you don't have any propane leaks.
i dont know which mountain they saw prbally Hood but the one thing I do know BIGFOOT LIVES ON THAT MOUNTAIN
If buying one for yourself, aim for a 75 or older, no WAY would I want to have to deal with smogging an RV. Also, 'Fun Times' campers on the old Ford chassis had a sweet wraparound window in the back.. something to hunt for!
You can take the smog off ! Oh that’s right California is woke and you got too have it working ! Glad I live in NC
@@davidcatlette9697 No safety checks, no rust checks, no brake checks, no light checks, and no smog required for '75 and older and under $100 to reg per year.. how you like them safety checks back in NC? Hot rodders got it great in the west with real classics, just not all that malaise era plastic junk from the mid 70's and 80's.
@@deadclutch I thought it was 74 and older. I can't imagine they rolled it back a year.
I guess they did. It was 74 for a long time.
@@majcrash the roll back was a sham too, it was when Arnie pulled the car vote by saying he'd make it a 30 year rule, then flip flopped after he was voted in to office. The reality is the feds have smog laws back to '66, so states might choose to ignore them but big boss up top can come in at any point and make a world of hurt.. likely when affordable EV's are en mass, they'll flip smog restrictions to a federal level and wipe out the majority of controlled classics.
The seller should have told you about the gas gauge before you traveled to see it knowing you were going to be driving it home. I bought a classic 75 GMC Vandura from socal and planned to drive it back to the SF bay area. He had only 3 lug nuts on the rh rear wheel and I had to drive it to the local wheel shop and buy lug nuts. Nice looking rig though! 😎🏁
You guys were in Brownsville? Hell you weren't far from my place at all. BTW the I5 corridor from Eugwne to Portland is considered the grass seed capital of the world, so if you have grass or hay allergies, YOU'RE GONNA HAVE A BAD TIME
HECK YEAR IT WILL MAKE IT...IT HAS A 460 GAS GUZZLER IN IT...BUT WILL GO ANYWHERE YOU WISH!!!
I’d drive it that’s awesome what was the first Ford camper
Sick !!! I have a Bull nose Ford 1981 camper very similar to this one ! I’ve been building it on my channel and if your looking for one mine is up for sale ! I haven’t posted anything in a few months but he’s complete! Made a few trips across the country with no issues 🤘🏻
nice old bus dont have that jenny on when you go to bed it will keep you awake all night ✌👍😎
Always loved the split grilles on the 76-77 fords going to buy me one day and diesel swap it. Might even swap a 76/77 front clip on a late 70s bronco when they went to match the truck design
Why ? Just buy a diesel truck and leave the virgin 76/77 alone ! If anything put a 460 in it and build the hell out of it !
@@davidcatlette9697 If I could find one with a 460 in my price range I would totally build it and put a zf-5 behind it. My dad has a 92 f250 with one and it shifts like butter
The background music is amazing like wish I knew what the songs were.
God that's just awesome, I'd love to own that beauty 👍👍👍
What an emotion filled video, I know we spoke a bunch on the trip but man does that thing look good. Can’t wait to see it IRL.
Thank you again for going and getting her for us. I’m nervous about the second video. I know the final result 😂
Haha it’s all for good entertainment. She’s in good hands. And as hard as the trip was I still will admit it looks super good
@ ford era I like it better than the '71 camper, and it was really nice after the detailer got it cleaned up. I'm not sure if I've seen all of those videos.
Try upgrading your carburetor to fuel injection and change the gear ratio in your axle. It should help your fuel economy go up
Damn! I work at the Atlantic FBO right next door to PDX haha
You two are funny. Sweet ride.
We own a 1997 Mazda Bongo camper and I'm a certified zip tie technician 😂, they are what is holding the camper together.
That thing is mint
I had a Ford back in the day and I traveled a lot. My mechanic rebuilt my carb and put the smallest jets possible in it and it got great mileage. Still had all the power. Nice truck.
Like 7 mpg?
We will be fine
Cool interior. Carpet probably needs replacing.
Who sells their vehicle with a headlight falling out and a wing nut missing?? At least fix the simple things!
If you drove to Eastern KS, people would assume you were driving to LMC for an F350 rebuild kit. LMAO! 🤣😂
The Ole' yhep thats not goin anywhere
Ford trucks 60,70,80’s were gas hogs
say hi to rick at classic truck rescue
Have you looked up how many HP it has? What did you pay for her? She is sweet!!!
Sweet rig. Love the paint scheme. I see that Bronco and thought maybe you were buying that
That's a great rig. It must be rare because most of the ones I've seen are on a E series (van) platform.
looks like everyone was enjoying the trip until it was time for bed...hope it worked out ok
I have a 68 f250 with a 360 and get 5mpg
A year after the video was posted, but informative and easy listening. And I agree …. It’s a good looking old rig.
Head up north I5 into Washington to exit 56 area is a guy name Ben Reaves. Has a beautiful ford boneyard right off the freeway. At least 50 rigs waiting for you!
The Willamette Valley is known as the allergy capital of the world.
Why would it not come with buckets? How else do you get into the back from the drivers seat?
This thing is NICE!!! I’m almost 48 years old and I don’t remember ever seeing these things THIS clean!
that was Mt.Hood it is a dormant volcano...
Great looking ride. Good luck to anyone finding the same one in such nice condition anywhere. 👍
Wow, 45 Years Young🚌& You'al Are Going Home🏡🛻On A Big Wing🛩& A Big Prayer🙏WOW😅! I Would Be Conerned About Driving Just 1 Mile Down The Road🛣. You Got Some Mosta🐂Balls To Take This Trip🛣Delivery😱! Good Luck🤠
Man the west coast is not friendly for gas prices, I thought 125.00 was a lot for filling the 30 gallon tank in the ‘86 dodge ( @ 5.29) for ethanol free. 5.69 for regular!jumping ja-hosafats.
6.4 mpg isn’t surprising, not sure how someone wouldn’t have known it would be in that ballpark;( Dually, three speed transmission, brick wall aero, weighs a bunch, big block..
Sorry. But I'd run from this deal as fast as I could. At that age, I fear it will be a money pit. The camper will probably leak. It's a huge risk driving something unknown all the way back to San Diego. Good luck.
Don't know if you will see this message but I was wondering where the guy said he got the 16.5 in tires from.
Unfortunately that is the size I have on my 1985 E350 460 Ford RV I just bought. It is a beautiful RV but I wished my ex would have checked the mechanical part of it a lot better. I knew it needed the wiring harness either replaced or spiced back together and your regular oil, plugs, wires, filters and belts but not what I have ran into so far. I kinda wish I didn't buy it. I know its built better then the newer ones with the laminated siding but if I had just a bit more money I could have bought a newer one that ran and drove. But I guess even though this one is older then the one I bought ran it just shows they can break down regardless of the age. Im just afraid I won't have enough money to fix this.
I mean it has been sitting for 29 years so I should have figured it would have problems but my ex said he could get it running. Guess that is a wait and see.... Lol
But he just pulled the back tank and it was completely rusted through and he said you could put your finger through the steel where it was so soft. And the guy I bought it off of said it had a plastic tank. I questioned the guy about it and he swore it had a plastic gas tank and then my ex said that newer cars use plastic and I said this isn't new, it's old. But again something he should have checked before I bought it. Because if he checked it and told the guy he was a couple bubbles off that it is steal I would have walked away and not looked back because that is one thing I can't stand is a liar and a thief.
But now I'm stuck with it as of now.
So I'm looking at a wiring harness that I found for $100 to be safe. A rear fuel tank. A rear fuel pump, front fuel pump, fuel pump on the frame. Battery for the engine, the guy said he just put a new battery in it, so all I can figure is that he took it out and put a junk one in it. I had to buy a new starter. Even though he said it turned over and I get it to my ex's and there's nothing so he looks and the starter is being held on by one bolt. So only thing I can figure is that he took that back off also. The battery for the generator and fridge. And this is just the beginning.
I just pray that it's not going to be any worse then it is already. If I could sell it for what I paid for it I would sell it except I wouldn't lie to people with what is wrong with it or take parts off of it.
Now if the guy didn't take the parts off then I'm sorry for thinking and saying it. But how can it be this when it's at his place and completely different when I get it to my ex's house?
Anyhow sorry for going on and on about the rv but I need to know of a cheap place to get those 16.5 tires or what size could I put on it that would work and not be an odd ball size and cost me an arm and a leg to get tires. Thank you.
God bless 🙏💞🙏
Driving an old unknown vehicle 1000 miles might destroy the engine, rearend, or transmission. The fact they didn’t even know the tires were new before hand or that they didn’t check the inner duals is concerning too. Since nothing went seriously wrong this was a very boring episode though;( simple way to double the price of that vehicle the first day.
I hope you get a crewcab
Do I spy a radio with an 8 track tape player?
Such a killer find! Love it. Thank you for bringing us along 🙌
Of course! Thanks for watching
Hi, could you tell me what music you are playing at 2:23. I think it might be from the youtube music library. thank you.
Man that thing is clean. Buckets in a 73-79 weren't rare. Many many 78-79 broncos came with buckets. 😂
Very interesting body style . I am surprised it ran as good as it did .
Vintage, hell. Thats an antique. When you
register it at your DMV, get historic plates for it.
!
I don’t care fantastic you try to make it seem, that thing is old and a POS. Going to break down on you in the middle of nowhere and stress you out. Should have spent a little more on a newer more reliable.
I have found on my 25 foot 1994 class A Winnebago Warrior Chevy 454 that if I use Chevron I get 10 to 11 miles a gallon. If I use other gas it goes from 5 to 8 gallons. Chevron makes a big difference. I have been living and traveling in my going on 5 years now filming my adventures. I have tried other gas and keep track of my mileage and Chevron is always 10 to 11 miles a gallon if I don’t go over 60 miles an hour at 75 or 80 or uphill it can go down to 8 or 9 but that is still really good! I love my happy 454 Chevy motor! Great video nice old camper!
I have ta similar vehicle, a 1977 Coachmen Leprechaun. I didn't buy it for road trips, though. I plan to live in it while I build a home on my own land. In the meantime, I'll be doing extensive renovating to the RV. My cousin drove it for me almost 5 hours. $125 to fill it up everytime. Ouch! I don't have working AC on it, either. I don't know why but I don't care. I plan to put in a mini split air conditioner and use solar and wind power.
I lived in a 1999 Leprechaun on a E450 chasis for a while
Wow to hear there was a Leprechaun model in 77 as I have a 75 F250
Thats cool stuff
Can't stop laughing at the ending " yeah- there you go ... Oh- maybe not". 🤣
I see a motor home collab w/ Junkyard Digs here in the future.
Why do most people buy these old worn out camper Van's ,that's ridiculous not having a fuel gauge working or air con you throw good money after bad if its realy what you want to do why not hire one it would probably be a new one just to wet your appetite.
When will the engine for the f100 be done
Really nice old camper. Great video and first time viewer on your channel. Seen you on Junkyard Digs and came over to jump on board!
Thanks for sticking around!
You remind me of Kiefer Sutherland good luck to you buddy God bless you. Mey the wind always be at your back
It’s called a chassis mount not a camper it’s a heavy duty Ford frame and drivetrain you got yourself something good if it camper part is still good
What's really cool is you're just outside Salem and Tweakers haven't stole that and made it into a pile of garbage on the side of some road.
You're lucky you is in Tennessee and Kentucky in the Winter time 2 worst States for allergies
I just found your channel.
I subscribed.
Very nice Camper.
Good luck.
Take care, EM.
The town of Brownsville was in the movie Stand By Me. Parts of Lebanon were also in the film
The A/C in this is a Ford dealer installed unit. As you can see, there's no plenum housing underneath the hood.
I tuned in to watch the girl on the thumbnail, I barely saw her at all . . . what the! OH! more click bait . . bye
How many Miles per gallon does it get? I see 6.4 Whhoooo!
You've never fuckng heard of Mt. Hood? WT actual F!?
You have to get the Claritin from behind the counter and show ID in Oregon. Something to do with people use it to make meth
@@MaxGiganteum This was passed over 15 years ago when Portland was a nice city.
Sound like a couple of aliens that haven't been any where in America. Oh the grass is making my nose run, oh no.
Way cool. You never cease to impress. Thanks for sharing
Oh man i love it. I would actually looove to have one of those. Never had a proper vacation in my life. If I had one of those, I sure would. Get me a tiny car to pull behind it and just GO.
News flash, this beast needs a lot of maintenance before that trip
id love one of those with a Cummins or Perkins diesel engine in it, and hello from Scotland
Put a couple of washers under the front of the seat and it will recline it a little
Did yall keep buying tools for the camper?
