It definitely doesn’t pass any building codes where I’m from. It’s fun until the city comes by and asks, did you just fall out of the coconut tree??? Then they fine u until it’s gone…
@@Youvide hello, as somebody who worked on few DIY projects, I can say few things. Styrofoam is not good to be floor. Cement for it, will crack fast. Styrofoam can be walls, be it needs some harder skeleton, like thin metal sheet frame. Or frame built of wooden boards. Unfortunately, your work, will not last long.
I think the idea of styrofoam is great, but I would have built wall frames and then laid brick on the outside for sturdiness and wood or drywall for the inside walls. I also would have elevated it off the ground maybe on pallet framing a bit to prevent moisture or any potential flooding. I definitely would reinforce that roof, one swift wind and its gone. Basically you built the insulation for the roof, and walls but without the walls. That said, I love the idea of a styrofoam house. Never have to worry about a draft!
It is amazing🎉 innovative and a joy to watch🎉 with more support inside and out could be a viable structure. Was that stucco or concrete mixture i also thought i saw some form of tar
You're going to need something else built around it on the outside to stabilize it that will never stand alone. And the floors they won't work they're going to crack. Like what if somebody just tripped and fell in the living room they would fall through the wall.
An interesting idea for assembling a storage shed. It appeared to be tongue and groove insulation, so should be sturdy enough, especially with the parging done, inside and out, to encapsulate it. I would have thought that you would have inset some wood for sturdier framing, where the doors and windows were put. I'm also assuming that the roof was somehow, tied into the walls, for strength in storms. I've built a couple of 'foamie' trailers, so I'm somewhat familiar with what you were doing. You must have gotten a great deal on the foam, otherwise I would think that lightweight framing and thin plywood would have been a bit less expensive. (or perhaps the same, depends where you are) Keep and eye on water drainage. You dug out and levelled the soil, but I didn't see any gravel put down and levelled, to provide drainage. An interesting build, and good video. I hope you get good use out of this shed. 😊
Great idea 💡, I would have laid down a foundation. It looks strong, yet aren't you a little concerned about something damaging your home? Other than that loved the music, how easy it looked to build the home, and how your family helped out too. I hope all goes well for you and the house.

How true if the walls are covered with cement? Such walls are called Structural Insulated Panels, and are used extensively to build homes and garages today.
@davis.fourohfour : The cement covering makes absolutely no difference when there is no structural integrity nor support. It simply means a bigger mess to clean when the wall/s collapse or are knocked over.
Oh, that's right, when a brick house is insulated with such a material, it's normal, but if they decided to build it from such a material, then oh, it's not an ecological material🤦♂️

I'd worry a lot about the styrofoam getting hot, either from trying to heat it in the winter or from the sun on the roof in summer. There is a reason for framing or using column for support without supporting structure, you are building a house of cards. The cement or mud coating on the floors is such a thin shell, walking ir putting any weight in the floor will cause cracking as the Styrofoam compresses. Leaving the Styrofoam out of the floor, and going with packed dirt covered with wood or cement would hold up longer. And their is no structure to hold the walls up. The first time someone trips and falls intova wall the entire wall as well as parts of attached walls are all breaking out/apart. The roof, built like that will lift up when a wind gets under it is going to take oart of yhe walls its fastened too.
