Couple of negative post with out suggestions but what else is new.
Never know why people want what they want. But she did execute the basic building theory.
So obviously she should be aware of what is missing and what needs to be added.

  • @dougwilson4537
    @dougwilson4537 15 дней назад +10

An interesting idea for assembling a storage shed. It appeared to be tongue and groove insulation, so should be sturdy enough, especially with the parging done, inside and out, to encapsulate it. I would have thought that you would have inset some wood for sturdier framing, where the doors and windows were put. I'm also assuming that the roof was somehow, tied into the walls, for strength in storms. I've built a couple of 'foamie' trailers, so I'm somewhat familiar with what you were doing.
You must have gotten a great deal on the foam, otherwise I would think that lightweight framing and thin plywood would have been a bit less expensive. (or perhaps the same, depends where you are) Keep and eye on water drainage. You dug out and levelled the soil, but I didn't see any gravel put down and levelled, to provide drainage.
An interesting build, and good video. I hope you get good use out of this shed. 😊

Burlap coated (Painted on) cement is also an unique building material used in India.
It can be used to build roadways as well and also used for roof spans up to 40 foot. Which in almost unbelievable considering the weight involved.
I have not tested it but on paper this could work to make your Styrofoam House withstand some more than average weather patterns.
The foundation would be the key. And yes you do have to figure it the additional cost to know if it is worth the effort and the expense.
When working with third world countries we (engineers) have a lot more freedom about building materials and are able to make use of what is available locally.
In the United States we are having to fight legally to allow the poor to make a home out of 12 x 24 storage sheds.
A large mobile home manufacture in Tennessee has thrown a lot of money into the legal system against such living arrangements.
    Only in America.

    1. The structure was built on a wooden/concrete base.
    2. A layer of chicken wire was put on before the concrete on the outside.
    3. The inside was covered by architectural plywood.
The end result was a pretty, easily build structure that was put up to help people whose houses were destroyed by hurricanes. They could have a temporary shelter while rebuilding their homes.

A thief with a battery powered hand held skill saw can literally cut a hole in wood, metal and stone. So there's that. People determined to break in, will break in.

@bahnsidhes well we could add the fact that Styrofoam has pfas and leaches toxic chemicals into the air you'll breathe inside this! This is a cancer causing nightmare!

If you had added tint to the cement, you wouldn't have had to paint.

That's a very well insulated home if you ask me. If the builders reinforced it, I guess durability issues are negligible.

On a very windy day, my imagination sees that house flying like birds in the air. You should add wings to it. Wizard of Oz part two? Remember the house flying by? 🙊

There is a reason for framing or using column for support without supporting structure, you are building a house of cards. The cement or mud coating on the floors is such a thin shell, walking ir putting any weight in the floor will cause cracking as the Styrofoam compresses. Leaving the Styrofoam out of the floor, and going with packed dirt covered with wood or cement would hold up longer. And their is no structure to hold the walls up. The first time someone trips and falls intova wall the entire wall as well as parts of attached walls are all breaking out/apart. The roof, built like that will lift up when a wind gets under it is going to take oart of yhe walls its fastened too.
This type of construction is great for a child's dollhouse or maybe a childs play house, but not to live in.
