This is no longer the theme of Gwyn, lord of cinder. This is the theme of Gwyn, lord of sunlight. The theme that played in Gwyn’s head when he was quickscoping dragons out of the sky with his sunlight spears.
I feel like this is the version Gwyn would hear as he fights you. The original is somber, like you're putting down a rabid dog that everybody once loved. This is more fighting for your life or title as a god.
But that's the thing. You're pretty much "putting Gywn down". I do think this song would be perfect, though, if the narrative of the game was a bit different.
Jackson Riley Agree with you both. I feel this would be a more suitable song for a more dramatic fight. Say there was a stage falling apart and things crashing around like some action movie
Jackson Riley no, you and DarthVaizard are in total agreement with one another. While you're putting down a (literally )burnt out shell of a former legend, Darth is saying that since he's most likely insane and Hollowed, Gwyn might not realize how it's simply over for him, and is like "OH HEY A LOWLY HUMAN DARES TO CHALLENGE THE MIGHTY LORD OF SUNLI-FUCK HE KNOWS HOW TO PARRY SHIT SHIT SHI-"
The normal theme for Gwyn was depressing cuz he was weakened and hollow.... This on the other hand.... THIS is the theme for battling Gwyn when he was in his prime. Imagine this song playing while he smites dragons out of the sky with his sunlight spear!!!
Brendan Reguera Haha yeah I've yet to get DS3, is the Soul of Cinder just as fast as Gywn though? I've watched gameplay and he doesn't seem quite as aggressive.
This song is very powerful and emotionnal, and fits the boss perfectly. You've died countless times; struggled against odds that are not fair game by any modern standard, you've chosen a weapon and honed it with titanite, sweat, blood and tears, and faced Snorlax and Pikachu; eventually toppling them down... And now you get here. To this man, who's barely more than a hollow, let alone a God. Someone who has no unpredictable attacks, and doesn't use any gimmicks. Just a fight. For 99% of us, you defeat him the first time. But you don't just defeat him; you methodically clip him down. You take no risks, give no mercy. This song isn't about an epic battle. It's a song about a slaughter. It sings the mountain you climbed, the countless deaths you endured, the long road that's now behind you. It has an almost nostalgic feel, and how could it not, when you slay the only Soul that can yet prevent the world from fading away into raw entropy. How could it not when you're minutes from turning off your game console and putting away the game that you loved and hated?
Almost complete change of tone. No longer a tone of melancholy for a great hero who fell, but another powerful opponent to overcome. There is still a bit of a sad time, but it feels like a much larger battle. Great work on this and the other remixes.
As you enter the fog, you see a old figure standing by the first flame. It is Gwyn, lord of cinder and sunlight. Gwyn looks up at you, raising his sword and using his raspy throat mutters “my true heir...”. As Gwyn said this, a part of his memories came back to him. He was the lord of sunlight, defender of the first flame and the first lord of cinder. No longer was he truly hollowed, as he had regained his sense of duty and purpose. Gwyn suddenly becomes more embered, raising his left hand and summoning a bright sunlight spear. With his final might, he throws the spear at you and charges at you. Prove yourself worthy to be a lord of cinder. Gwyn, the first lord, shall judge you.
Lord Gwyn! King of the Gods, Slayer of Stone Dragons, Lord of the Sun! I beseech thee! Rise! Defend your throne and kingdom! For I have come to claim it!
+TyronMakeka Did you make that up or is that an actual piece of dialogue? Either way, just imagining the Chosen Undead saying or thinking that as they approach Gwyn totally paints the fight in a different light.
Gwyn’s original theme feels like the musical personification of stagnation. In contrast, This version carries with a great sense of momentum and change. Beautifully done.
This remix definitely hits home in my heart. The original track makes it feel like you're fighting for your life instead of a virtual person. The remix makes it sound like there is urgency in the task at hand, making it even better. And also, when you fight Gwyn in game, you are fighting a man who gave himself to protect everything he believed in, only for it to fall apart again. This remix definitely deserves props, and I'm the one who's going to give it props.
I feel like there isn't any urgency at all in the fight, so this remix might fail my expectations. I just feel like you try to end a miserable existence of a former god-like hero. The results of your predecessor and the fate he suffers, all together packed in this moment where the melancholic sound of the original theme plays. This made me chose the path of the dark lord in the end, so history has not to repeat itself and noone else has to walk the path I did. It really feels like you are befriends with Gwyn, even though both of you are so far apart in time. His desperate shell made me fear what might await me if I take his place. So this fight, in my eyes, is truly just an act of mercy.
had the All For One remix playing and had this opened on another tab...accidentally clicked on this while All For One was fading out and my god most epic transition ever been a fan back when this song came out a couple years ago and i still listen to it among my other favourites of your works all in all...i love you

I almost had a heart attack of joy when I saw the title. I play E.S. Posthumus' discography on shuffle while grinding in Dark Souls, and this is just awesome. Great music, great idea, and great tastes.
Most people complain when a game leaves you feeling empty. Dark Souls is an exception. After defeating Gwyn you're left feeling empty...you feel well hollowed. You've lost purpose in the Dark Souls universe. (well at least until you get to the sequels) that's what's awesome about dark souls.
You know, there is a potential end to his questline where both he and his daughter survive. He's one of the few characters who's not impossible to prevent from hollowing.
Nakumare No actually there is no way to save Sigmeir from hollowing. If you save him in Lost Izalith he hollows im the great hollow and his daughter puts him down. If not then he dies in Izalith
I just can not get enough of this song. It's so good! I've got your songs and HellkiteDrake's in a playlist I stream to my Xbox while I play Dark Souls! Hah.
Really cool remix. It manages to capture both the sadness you're intended to feel while fighting Gwyn and the tension and intensity that you feel being so close to finishing the game.
**Raises my catalyst** This one is for Logan... **Casts Crystal Souls Spear** This one is for Artorias... **Casts Pursuers** And this one... Is for Solaire **Finishes him off with a Dark Bead**.

This reminds me of the moment when I first entered Kiln of the First Flame. My heart broke when i stood by the white fog outside gwyns boss area and realized what i was about to do. For the few Dark Souls players who care about the lore like myself, this was one of the most fantastic moments in gaming history. I don't think i'll ever forget Dark Souls. It's the most beautiful, entertaining and heartbreaking game I have ever played or even heard of..And the fact that people are still making remixes and videos at all is something i look up to. I salute you, gamemakers.
Melagrath Ren A lot of Dark Souls sound files are locked and encrypted to keep people from messing with them. You can change some sounds, but not all of them.
this is really good, I actually love every component introduced… it feels so epic, like you’re truly listening to the peak of Gwyn’s life as Lord of Sunlight
This song by far is my favorite remix yet. I love how it sounds so much more dramatic yet it still keeps its feel of sadness to it. You sir are amazing. Soo many good songs. Keep it up.
Im sold. I am like Simon on American idol and rarely do I ever subscribe to someone as I think such a recognition should only be those of true talent. And you sir, have it. I love your remixes, all of them.
Not many comments I came here after subbing to you because of the demon and dark souls remixes and this one is just amazing, I like how much you added to it, you made this sad song feel epic, have a like you deserve it :)
i wont stop coming here thank you for making this, the act man for letting me know this exists, the dark souls community and the creators for this fucking masterpiece...
I'm a sucker for sad music so I do prefer the original but still, damn! I'm impressed as usual. I didn't think this song could ever sound like this. Nice work!
Reading these comments makes me happy because I know I'm not the only one who appreciates the beauty of video gaming music. My ragtag list of favorites includes remixes and original compositions of Pokemon, Mario, Kirby, Zelda, and Dark Souls music. I mostly listen to Nintendo Songs, but this is beauty. You, the Guitah Hero, and all vgm remixers out there make me proud.
I had probably one of the most amusing fights with Gwyn. To start the fight, as soon as I walked through the mist, he jumped at me, but flew over my head and missed. During the fight, he did the move where he grabs you and blows up at least 10 times, and when I killed him, he fell to his knees while floating up very quickly, only to shoot back down twice as fast and sink through the floor. I beat it again and had a proper fight without any derpy moments. This is in my top 5 favorite boss fights
Listening to this now highlights your growth as a musician. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy this for what it is, but you've certainly out done yourself with so many of the things that you've released in the last few months.
It's funny, because to me people like me, who can't parry, Gwyn is the hardest boss. Added the fact you need to run the marathon past all the black knights everytime you die, and you have a pretty fitting final boss, at least for me, based on what this game represents.
I wouldn't say the hardest, but definitely very hard for someone who can't / won't parry. I never liked how overpowered the parrying mechanic is in Dark Souls so I never used it. Champion Gundyr in DS3 was my worst nightmare because of it.
@@AMubher ds3 Lothric castle was an absolute nightmare because i Never used a Shield Cause i assumed they are useless. (Enemies Counter your shield more and In general i was like "shields do me more harm than good so I Went for a Two handed Great sword build) and just like you said Fuck Champion gundyr's second phase. thankfully i'm starting to get down Ds3 parrying but i'm still not confident in Parrying with a normal shield i'll have to use a Dagger or a small shield
yeah it was pretty underwhelming cause i was somewhat overpowered and tbh atleast was expecting a little hard fight but nope my +15 demon's greataxe annihilated his health bar
Currently listening back to all of your remixes and your Yuka Kitamura collab (those were beautiful, keep it up big man), now I can't stop thinking about playing DS1 and DS3 again. I hope you are doing well Alex.
The thing I loved about the final bosses of 1 and 3 is that they are fighting for everything, not just their existence but for the existence of everyone. They try to defend life from you since you may be the one to smother the flame
Shiny's Support Just DS1’s boss, DS3’... Well, it’s what he does, but I don’t think we can say that this what he « wants », per se, since we don’t even know if he technically has even a will of his own. It seems like it’s just a golem if sort, conjured by the fire to defend itself.
This song is amazing. I love all your remixes I've heard so far... Question though, about the background. Where did you get it? I must have it for my wallpaper, it's amazing as Gwyn is my favorite Souls character.
Hey! I just realised something! Dark souls 3 is coming out and the story is about lords of cinder coming back to life. Could that mean that we are going to see lord Gwyn once again? Will we see him in his full reborn glory? I sure hope that we do...
I don't think they could possibly have a story about returning lords of cinder and not have Gwyn reborn, he will probably be one of the last bosses again I'm sure. In his full power the lord of sunlight would be a challenge even for us veteran souls players.
+Konsta Nurmi Well it's the lordS of cinder coming back to life. Gwyn is but one of many. I do not think gwyn would be of much importance in this context, because lords of cinder probably covers countless generations. Having lord gwyn make an appearance would feel like fanservice to me, honestly. It technically could happen, but Gwyn wouldn't be important anymore.
Dark souls 3 final boss: In dark souls 3 you play as the servant of a reincarnated manus with his mind restored and his dark soul completed, his goal, to travel back in time to the point where gwyn lit the first flame, stop gwyn and create a permanent age of fire by using the dark soul as fuel instead of the lord soul, thus ensuring mankind's continued existence as well as that of the age of light. the catch, gwyn wants to rule that future himself, and won't suffer mankind steering their own destiny for fear of something like the continuing cycle of dark souls 1 and 2, where time is distorted and the abyss continually enters and recedes, creating the undead curse each time. both you and manus, whose mind is now whole and who appears human, enter the kiln just in time to stop gwyn. can you change the distorted future of lordran for all eternity? and what new world will be created from the ashes of the dark soul? There are no answers.
TheBrilliantAndAmazingGamer I am sorry but the dark soul can be as good fuel as any soul for the first flame, since you the chosen undead can light it up with your dark soul ( which is really big from the other souls you've absorbed lets say) so him, using his dark soul for fuel will be prolonging the age of fire. There are a lot to explain about darkness in these games and I don't have time, nice idea nonetheless :P
Well, according to a whole lot of clues and hints, it's most likely that Knight Solaire is Gwyn's firstborn son. So assuming you did everything right, you don't have to fight Gwyn and his son, but instead can fight against Gwyn alongside his son.
Sometimes listening to Gwynn theme was all worth the errors, hard combat, the journey I have been. It’s amazing how these notes makes everything you did in the game *Worth your time instantly* Respect ✊
I felt so empty killing him the first time, when you enter the fog, he jumps right at you and start an onslaught of powerful attacks, as you struggle to survive, hearing the music play, your wailing soul bounded to the vibe of each note played, you fight against him, without thinking, only driven by your will to prevail, and your emotions, the implications of this battle. Thus, until you manage to connect the final blow, and contemplate this once great figure, slowly dying before your very eyes, you realise your journey is over, and what you've done, you've killed the husk of the Lord of this land, a man who only tried to sustain the flame, to prevent an age of despair..
Timothy Cork I remember my first time playing any souls game and was fighting allant with my shitty build and he took 1 str from me and I couldn't use my weapon so I had to grind to fight him again and that time I beat him
This is no longer the theme of Gwyn, lord of cinder. This is the theme of Gwyn, lord of sunlight. The theme that played in Gwyn’s head when he was quickscoping dragons out of the sky with his sunlight spears.
Quickscoping haha

Hi Act Man!
The Act Man...? What are you doing here?!?
I feel like this is the version Gwyn would hear as he fights you. The original is somber, like you're putting down a rabid dog that everybody once loved. This is more fighting for your life or title as a god.

FUCK THE HELL YES. YES PLIZ.
A Whorty fight vs Gwyn would be really awesome. I've expected more from the final boss, and i think the charcaters deserves a better treatment.
I’m so glad this is back on here I love it so much
Some years later, FromSoft introduces Dark Souls Remastered, titled "Dark Souls - Prepare to Feel" with this track included and an unparryable Gwyn
Oh god an unparryable Gywn? I'd never be able to beat the game XD
+MygunsJammedify don't worry, we still have Solaire AKA Sunbro
Praise the sun!
Good luck trying to beat the Soul of Cinder then
Brendan Reguera Haha yeah I've yet to get DS3, is the Soul of Cinder just as fast as Gywn though? I've watched gameplay and he doesn't seem quite as aggressive.
The 27 people who disliked this couldn't parry Gwyn and got locked in towers.
But I think we all know Havel the Rock could still parry with a greatshield
I locked myself in the tower out of mercy for Gwyn. Even he couldn't stop the Rock.
Makes sense. Lure all those filthy magic scrubs into the basement. By the way, you wouldn't happen to know if Tarkus has woken up from his nap yet?
***** It's all in the legs. Become a mountain of faith those magicians cannot move.

+GregTom2 Why do people say he's so easy? im confused...
+ThatRougeTho You can parry him.
Kato Waka ik that, thats usually how i beat him
+GregTom2 You made me re-evaluate my life.
Ya'll should try fighting him alone with no shield, It's extremelly fun. And it actually feels like you fought something at the end.
So I played this while cosplaying as Gwyn.
Holy shit I was tearing people apart in the forest.
you better god damn have used charcoal resin and the jump attack to open fights
Gatosan Tumblebuffed the AbyssGreatsword with fire for the opening.
Pardoner Oswald How? Tumblebuff doesn't work with resin.
HaxzorzGaming Must mean perm move-swap on fury sword. Only way that makes sense
Matthew Bland Oh shit, I should have thought of that.
I gotta try that shit.
PS: Or he could have swapped the model from a buff-able greatsword
I’m glad this is back up! Such a good song!

Almost complete change of tone. No longer a tone of melancholy for a great hero who fell, but another powerful opponent to overcome. There is still a bit of a sad time, but it feels like a much larger battle. Great work on this and the other remixes.
*Gets Gwyn, Lord of Cinder to 50% health*
*Gwyn embers, unparryable*
I need it.
I need Gwyn to be unparryable and to fuck up everything
I personally imagine this as a track that would play if you were fighting gwyn lord of sunlight instead of lord of cinder
That would be hilarious if he did that mid fight, regained all his health, started using pyromancy attacks and became unparryable/.
Man, this would be great.
That was amazing
This got my creative imagination up and fucking running with images.
Very very powerful ones.

+TheBusinessScrub Not sure but I think that's one of Solaire's lines if you use his summon sign for that battle.
While it would be fantastic, phantoms don't talk, and Solaire's never said that for me.
I summoned Solaire for that fight. He said no such thing. Shame
Gwyn’s original theme feels like the musical personification of stagnation. In contrast, This version carries with a great sense of momentum and change. Beautifully done.

With that head of hair and gorgeous beard....I see Gwyn rocking out hard to this :P
Im sold. I am like Simon on American idol and rarely do I ever subscribe to someone as I think such a recognition should only be those of true talent. And you sir, have it. I love your remixes, all of them.
Thank you :) and I like Simon haha
This is my favorite theme from any souls game, and it just got better, ez sub.
-MEEPOING INTENSIFIES-
Not many comments I came here after subbing to you because of the demon and dark souls remixes and this one is just amazing, I like how much you added to it, you made this sad song feel epic, have a like you deserve it :)
Pretty badass.
Imagination is up for another story of gwyn
Tears in my eyes, i can only imagine the emotions of composers, players, artists, your emotions.
The music of an *Unparryable Gwyn*
i wont stop coming here
thank you for making this, the act man for letting me know this exists, the dark souls community and the creators for this fucking masterpiece...
"𝐆𝐰𝐲𝐧, 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭"
I'm currently DMing a campaign in D&D and you just gave me my final boss music, and for that I love you
I'm a sucker for sad music so I do prefer the original but still, damn!
I personally prefer the original version for the battle, it fits the situation so much more, but this is pro work, really fucking cool.
I love Gwyns boss music, and I love this remix, good work bro!
Imagine if this song started playing during the Soul of Cinder's second phase.
Came here from ENB's billy mays commercial lol. This is amazing man. So far my favorites are this and the Artorias mix. I'm subscribe now.
I love the sword parrying sound effects in the background
Gwyn sadly doesn't have that much cool remixes this one of those awesome ones!
@@AMubher
ds3 Lothric castle was an absolute nightmare because i Never used a Shield Cause i assumed they are useless. (Enemies Counter your shield more and In general i was like "shields do me more harm than good so I Went for a Two handed Great sword build)
and just like you said Fuck Champion gundyr's second phase.
thankfully i'm starting to get down Ds3 parrying but i'm still not confident in Parrying with a normal shield i'll have to use a Dagger or a small shield
yeah it was pretty underwhelming cause i was somewhat overpowered and tbh atleast was expecting a little hard fight but nope my +15 demon's greataxe annihilated his health bar
Thank You for Everything You Great Man
Such Beautiful Art
Dark Souls Is Consuming My Recent Media
So Incredible
The Comfort Of Man Know’s No Bounds
Gwyn when you're trying to do a No Parry, No Sorcery, No Dodge roll run
Your song, "I had a name", really got me. Your remixes are the best I've seen, and all of them are fantastically well made. Bravo to you!
For the man was old and weary, he had enough strength for what would be his final dual.
You won't believe it, but this track helped me get through my depression
Listening to this while while fighting Gwyn was both amazing but sad at the same time, almost like we were putting down a rabid dog.
Fkin awesome music dude
It’s like the perfect music for a nostalgia montage
This song is amazing. I love all your remixes I've heard so far... Question though, about the background. Where did you get it? I must have it for my wallpaper, it's amazing as Gwyn is my favorite Souls character.
I just searched 'Dark Souls Gwyn' and looked for the largest picture, it was pretty easy to find. And thanks!
This is absolutely incredible
Do you know jamie doherty
This deserves wayyy more views. Great job.
dude this is a fucking masterpiece
Any piece of music you make/twitch is excellent, trully bravo.
Can't tell if I should be happy cause this song feels like he still is THE lord of sunlight or sad cause it brings back more of sad memories
Just finding this now somehow and I have to say, bra-fucking-vo my man. This is god damn epic.
Hey! I just realised something! Dark souls 3 is coming out and the story is about lords of cinder coming back to life. Could that mean that we are going to see lord Gwyn once again? Will we see him in his full reborn glory? I sure hope that we do...
Just imagine this music playing while fighting against Gwyn in his full power...
I don't think they could possibly have a story about returning lords of cinder and not have Gwyn reborn, he will probably be one of the last bosses again I'm sure. In his full power the lord of sunlight would be a challenge even for us veteran souls players.
+Konsta Nurmi I just jizzed my pants at the thought
+Konsta Nurmi would be badass
+Konsta Nurmi Well it's the lordS of cinder coming back to life. Gwyn is but one of many. I do not think gwyn would be of much importance in this context, because lords of cinder probably covers countless generations. Having lord gwyn make an appearance would feel like fanservice to me, honestly. It technically could happen, but Gwyn wouldn't be important anymore.
Congrats on 1M!
Such an incredible piece of music.
Dark souls 3 final boss:
In dark souls 3 you play as the servant of a reincarnated manus with his mind restored and his dark soul completed, his goal, to travel back in time to the point where gwyn lit the first flame, stop gwyn and create a permanent age of fire by using the dark soul as fuel instead of the lord soul, thus ensuring mankind's continued existence as well as that of the age of light.
the catch, gwyn wants to rule that future himself, and won't suffer mankind steering their own destiny for fear of something like the continuing cycle of dark souls 1 and 2, where time is distorted and the abyss continually enters and recedes, creating the undead curse each time.
both you and manus, whose mind is now whole and who appears human, enter the kiln just in time to stop gwyn.
can you change the distorted future of lordran for all eternity? and what new world will be created from the ashes of the dark soul?
There are no answers.
it's heavily implied that manus IS the furtive pygmy gone crazy.
***** pygmy*
TheBrilliantAndAmazingGamer I am sorry but the dark soul can be as good fuel as any soul for the first flame, since you the chosen undead can light it up with your dark soul ( which is really big from the other souls you've absorbed lets say) so him, using his dark soul for fuel will be prolonging the age of fire. There are a lot to explain about darkness in these games and I don't have time, nice idea nonetheless :P
How about no more dark souls? They shouldnt even had made a 2. Shouldve been with a different storyline and shit, new universe.
The Brilliant And Amazing Gamer
Heh...
Nicely done Alex. You do nothing but amaze me.
imagine if gywn had a phase 2 and became un-hallowed and returned to his god form and you had to fight him with this theme.
I would never had thought that a drum kit would work with Gwyns' theme, but it really does add a new layer to it.
The beginning reminds me of Mida's Lament from Twilight Princess
This is fantastic! :D Keep up the amazing work please!
Simplemente hermoso
holy shit this is a really good remix, great job man!
* Kfwoomp *
* Sching *
* Sonhg *
TheSalamanderGamer Parry......
That's the idea
Jaysus, this was amazing.
It's like this is Gwyn orignal ost you know before he scrface him self and become hollow
Wow, you sir are incredibly talented
I wish Gwyn's first born would return and we would have to fight them both to this :P
Maybe we, THE CHOSEN ONE, are the lost son… o.O
Unfortunately there are reasons why that can't be...
TheLastVoodooMan really??
It is my belief I summoned him against Gwyn, actually
Well, according to a whole lot of clues and hints, it's most likely that Knight Solaire is Gwyn's firstborn son. So assuming you did everything right, you don't have to fight Gwyn and his son, but instead can fight against Gwyn alongside his son.
Sometimes listening to Gwynn theme was all worth the errors, hard combat, the journey I have been.
It’s amazing how these notes makes everything you did in the game *Worth your time instantly*
Respect ✊
Dark souls 1 is the best souls game, change my mind.
Can’t disagree with a man who’s correct
Sorry I'm a ds2
This sounds like a Final Fantasy main villain / boss fight theme. - well done!
This moment of pure feeling of accomplishment when you kill him for the first time. Oh my god.
I was sad when I first killed him. . . :(
***** If only it were possible to summon 3 phantoms......
Then the 4 Knights could fight the man they once called their leader
***** Well, for roleplay purposes. Come up with your own version of the story and end it the way you want
Spooky Bones for me the true ending is to stay with pricilla...
and her tail...
You did a perfect job on perfecting a perfection.
I love fighting gwyn he is a beast boss
That is....untill you learn how to oneshot him.
MangaManiac Oh, come on- Who doesn't know? RIPO- ohwait.
*'Raises hand for Hi-Five'*
Yeah, but that meant he was hard to fight.
And a good challenge is a pain in the ass, much like Allant.
Timothy Cork I remember my first time playing any souls game and was fighting allant with my shitty build and he took 1 str from me and I couldn't use my weapon so I had to grind to fight him again and that time I beat him
