After being that friend who is the addict and needed to find my way home. This song really hits home for me. I've lost over a dozen friends due to addiction and drugs and just a few days ago my last friend of that era of my life passed away. If you know someone struggling please don't turn your back on them even when they are hard to deal with. We need you the most when we push away. God bless you all.) I was an alcoholic for 4 years. I was self medicating because I was so alone since leaving home and being cooped up in my apartment for so long everyday all alone. It took me through my grandpa getting sick when I’m sitting by him in his hospital bed he took my hand and told me “When I’m gone, promise me one thing, let me look over the grandson I always knew and loved. Get clean.. Not just for me, but for you. I don’t wanna see you up there before anyone else.” That was it. I took the step and got clean. I interpret the lyrics in the way that no matter what you’re not alone. There’s people in the same situation as you. And even if you get lost down the road, or feel alone or struggle with ANYTHING in life, just like my struggle with Alcohol, there will always be the one place or one person who will always welcome you with open arms.The house up on the hill. Which for me, was Rehab. There will always be somewhere where they will welcome you even if you have made mistakes.. we all do. And if you lose track of what you started, there will always be someone or something that will leave a light on to get you back on track. 🤞🏼☝🏻❤️
