I feel like a lot of people are not remembering/realizing this was actually the first time this song was performed. It was written specifically for the Season 1 finale and both Justin and Kelly performed it, before it was the mega hit we all know now. And as I said he actually performed if first. So to say he ruined it or it's not a moment like this, yadda yadda, is silly

Kelly didn't want this song. Its more of a Celine Dion meets Whitney Houston song. Never knew her distain for this masterful song. Until recently. She did such a great job with it. She said it wasn't the direction she wanted to go musicially . Afraid people would think she just wanted to do ballads and labeled as such. After hearing her tale on it , maybe it wasn't meant for her but for someone like a Celine Dion Whitney esque. Although to me she is perfect with it but I hear critically what Kelly hears. With the high notes . For me personally , I think she did a bang up job with it, however its not a song for everyone._Kelly herself lol

This song was made for a soprano's voice. That's why he don't sound good singing it. He is still a great singer though. They should have wrote a different song for him so that he could have had a better shot at winning.

2002: I wanted Justin to win, I thought he was so hot ,when I was younger. I never voted. At the time I was young and too intemidated to do it ,which its nothing to do. Lol I never knew Kelly much when idol was on. She didn't impresss me. Saw very few performances and idol in general. Her last night performance of this song was OK and a moment for me at the time. I was bummed Justin or the hot guy didn't win.
Later I got the CD compilation with all the idols or top 10 singing(greatest moments )
from Kmart I think. In the store, I was like , I bet thats that girl and that song and that show from the other night ... I thought idol would have one winner. Didn't understand the premise , that it would keep coming back year after years.
But when I heard that album with her recording of "a moment like this", just was at a loss for words.
I could hear what America heard. I'm glad it wasn't up to me. And even Justin said the right one won.
Her without you results show performance was.....it was something come to find out years later with the DVD.
