Mario Advance 4 had bonus levels you could unlock. You had to collect cards and swipe them through the E-Reader to play them. Super cool that we can play them on the virtual console.
You needed the e-reader and two GBAs to do it, and as I understand it not all the cards/levels were even available in North America. Additionally the cards contained the level data so you couldn't just get it on a ROM. The Wii U virtual console version included all the unlocked content for the first time and was absolutely worth the purchase. I'm considering subscribing to the expansion pack just for this + Golden Sun coming soon I've heard.

Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga is by far my most cherished game on the gameboy advance and very high on the list of my favorite games. It is a little like the 'good' papermario sequel we never got - fun, interesting story, an actually rewarding fight system and a lot of depth and fun exploring to do. Big recommendation. :) It's a sweet game.

Definitely play minish cap my favorite top down Zelda game. It’s a cool spin on the traditional hyrule map and has some cool world puzzles since you can shrink and grow
Superstar Saga is an amazing game. The writing has heart, the combat is engaging, and the exploration is puzzling. When you play, be sure to fight most enemies instead of running away! Otherwise you'll miss out on XP and will be too low level to beat the bosses!!!
Minish cap and superstar saga are some of the best games on the system, 100% worth playing all the way through and a ton of us would tune in to see you do it!
Minish cap is, IMO, one of the absolute greatest Zelda games ever, the story is awesome, gameplay is great, and it’s kind of different from all the others around
Well, it's not as hard as Ryu makes it seem since you have 3 speeds and... for some reason he never tried to press any button. Not saying it's easy though, but being able to manage your speed like that does make it a lot more forgivable. Some of the final story mode stages are really tough and you unlock an extra tough world if you can beat all of the story mode stages without suffering from any damage (doesn't need to be in a row, just once per stage and it's saved).
2:43 I hate it when I double-boing when I'm not supposed to. Also, Superstar Saga and Minish Cap are well worth checking out! Both are very excellent and GBA classics! Yeah, Super Circuit doesn't look great blown up but it looked fine on the GBA screen. Pre-rendered graphics just haven't aged the best in general. The game also has very loose drifting, but you kind of have to learn to work with the controls to get mini-turbos as they are essential in getting the highest ranking!
Minish cap is by far one of my favorite zelda games. Superstar saga is also probably the best Mario rpg. I'd love to see either one being played a bit.
Superstar Saga does have a nice concise intro you could have watched, but you have to start a file to see it. You won't regret that game, it's an absolute gem, and I'd recommend the entire series except Paper Jam (because it gets rid of nearly everything that isn't in the mainline games which is throwing away a major selling point of the series imo)
Ryu after your star ⭐️ ended Wario shot a red shell at you in this game you can also put red shells behind you and they stay in place until a another kart passes by!
I would love to see you play through the Mario and Luigi RPG and the Zelda game in their own dedicated videos. Superstar Saga is arguably the best M&L game EVER and it's definitely worth your time!
I played WarioWare Touched! for the NintendoDS in high school. Your playthrough jogged a long forgotten memory of mine, I’d love to see another vid of that!
Minish Cap is highly underrated. One of my favorite top down 2D Zeldas. WarioWare is SO fun. I played a ton of that when it first came out. Highly addicting and gets crazy hard when going for some bonus levels. SMB3 on GBA was also something I played a ton of as a preteen when it first came out. Never got a chance to play the e-reader levels though, so that was the first thing I jumped onto when this just released on switch!
As some people have said, the new levels are e-reader exclusive in SMA4, and honestly one of the reasons I was sad when they didn’t release Volume 2 overseas (I have an e-reader and got Volume 1 back in the day) It was honestly pretty neat back then, and don’t think they came with certain card additions but the e-reader cards also had “items cards” including the feather from Super Mario World that you could just give yourself as well (worked the same as SMW too) (honestly one card, which I wish they made it a challenge type of card and you died immediately if got hit instead of turn small, was giving yourself frog suits, imagine trying to beat the game as frog mario with horrible movement everywhere but in water lol)
I'd definitely be interested in seeing you play Minish Cap or really any of these. Just remember to put the Mario ones on the right channel of course. 😂
I had a DS and got a bunch of GBA games to go with it. Superstar Saga and Minish Cap are great. Final Fantasy Tactics, all 3 Castlevanias, Mega Man Battle Network, both Metroid games, both Fire Emblem games, and both Advance Wars games were really good too. Never tried any of the Pokemon games. Hopefully we can get a decent number of non-first party Nintendo games. For a lot of these series it seems the creators are content to sell the games as part of a bundle/remake rather than include them on Nintendo's service. Even if it is just first party stuff that potentially includes Fire Emblem, Pokemon, and Metroid though. And we already know we're getting Golden Sun eventually.
