    Mario Advance 4 had bonus levels you could unlock. You had to collect cards and swipe them through the E-Reader to play them. Super cool that we can play them on the virtual console.

    • @teddy4782
      @teddy4782 Год назад +24

      You needed the e-reader and two GBAs to do it, and as I understand it not all the cards/levels were even available in North America. Additionally the cards contained the level data so you couldn't just get it on a ROM. The Wii U virtual console version included all the unlocked content for the first time and was absolutely worth the purchase. I'm considering subscribing to the expansion pack just for this + Golden Sun coming soon I've heard.

      @@youtubekilledtrustedflaggi9274 copying the game from the switch virtual console would require a jailbroken switch which would break Nintendo TOS. It would also require a lot of knowledge of software manipulation to get that game onto a gba cart or you would need a modded gba that can store digital files. I’m sure it would be a fun project but seems like a lot of work when you could probably find this rom way easier elsewhere. The game is the same from the WiiU virtual console so I’m sure it’s floating around somewhere.

Not saying it's easy though, but being able to manage your speed like that does make it a lot more forgivable. Some of the final story mode stages are really tough and you unlock an extra tough world if you can beat all of the story mode stages without suffering from any damage (doesn't need to be in a row, just once per stage and it's saved).

    It was honestly pretty neat back then, and don’t think they came with certain card additions but the e-reader cards also had “items cards” including the feather from Super Mario World that you could just give yourself as well (worked the same as SMW too)
    (honestly one card, which I wish they made it a challenge type of card and you died immediately if got hit instead of turn small, was giving yourself frog suits, imagine trying to beat the game as frog mario with horrible movement everywhere but in water lol)

    Hopefully we can get a decent number of non-first party Nintendo games. For a lot of these series it seems the creators are content to sell the games as part of a bundle/remake rather than include them on Nintendo's service. Even if it is just first party stuff that potentially includes Fire Emblem, Pokemon, and Metroid though. And we already know we're getting Golden Sun eventually.

    As you were playing Warioware, Inc, i was having 'Nam flashbacks of each of the minigames, especially the hanging ball-chain and the Vault runner. I had 0 memory of that game until i saw you playing it... I'm pretty sure that game was at my babysitters when i was like 6 and I played it a lot.

    It goes to show Ryu's a legit pro-gamer that he's able to jump into games he's never seen in his life and just coast immediately through them.

    Fun fact; Capcom developed this game. Along with Oracle of Seasons/Ages, we need more Zelda games by Capcom/Flagship.

    15:34 those are e-reader levels, forgot those even existed. Back then if you had a GBA with an e-reader attached and the cards for this game and the game itself you can scan the cards on the e-reader to get these levels

    Problem with the Mario 3 remake is you lose P Speed after only a little bit instead of retaining it like normal Mario 3, so any attempts to speedrun levels are made impossible, or at least completely different.
