Thank you for your time and dedication to exposing building compliance issues and going the extra mile to educate us with the details such as exactly what codes are in breach and design plans for how things should look. Even how to read and interpret the information at times. I have learned sooo much.
Its not their job to keep them honest - the best way to do this is the owner hiring their own independent inspector during the building process. Also, insurance wouldnt cover the cost of rectification works where the works were not up to code to begin with. They'd be pretty stupid to try claim product liability when the only reason the product is defective is due to incorrect installation.
I spoke to your company recently. When I asked if I could book you personally ( i've watched about 20 of your vids and am very impressed) to do an inspection I couldn't really get a straight answer yes or no, or that was my interpretation. Thanks for the videos. I'm guessing before these units was a house with a massive yard. Now there are 3 or 4 units, which are now strata managed. Several "special" levies later to fix it all. I feel for the owners. Cheers
The sorry thing is that most items here unless the building starts to leak a lot or fall apart little will be repaired. Even if all are noted today, its only if an item becomes a major problem that there may be some recourse.
This is how they get out of their responsibilities. Declare bankruptcy one day, start a company under another name the next day, continue the rip offs unencumbered. Government know this is happening and do nothing.
I really like your use of the Keychain and even though you do post-editing for extracts , you keep the keychain.,. its so humble and honest, just like you.
Only one of my many contractors in the tribal areas (Zululand) failed to follow spoon fed instructions. When he asked me "why are you looking at all the problems ?", I responded "I'm not looking at them bro, they are looking at me" 😂
On the market too. I was going to feel sorry for the next sucker owner until I saw this on the builder's website: "We have developed a reputation for high-quality residences", "superior construction" and "global standards of excellence". Well phew....that alleviates my concerns
If one of these units were mine this builder would not only go broke financially but he would be sporting a broken skull and broken legs, eventually once his broken bones healed and if my issues were not fixed he would have broken head and legs again.😊
You deserve over a million subs aussies need to support this type of content. Australia is one of the most expensive places to purchase a house in the world you would think we had the best in the industry policing these con artist builders and trades.
I think the building industry could avoid 90% of all defects if they made more sensible houses . The pyramids lasted this long because they basically used 1 material. Look at these houses he inspects and it’s hundreds of different materials that need special connections and fixings and joins and compounds etc . If the entire house was just made of brick or just made of wood there wouldn’t be so many failure points. Not to mention this flashy architecture. Keep it all simple but build it strong .
“Unskilled trades?”. The fact is the building industry in Victoria is so heavily regulated to “protect” homeowners from the dodgy work you show us. The regulations only add cost and complexity for the home owner and as you show still result in poor workmanship.
It probably not because the trades are "unskilled", i think its more likely they're being pushed too hard to get it done quickly - this could be because the contractors have such a high workload that they're rushing either themselves, their subbies or employees, or because the builder needs it done last week.
Phoenixing is endemic in alll East coast states The problem then is who do you sue roofers, tillers chippies, glazers, plumbers, well each will fight in court and each case is a single case the cost would bankrupt the owners.
That's an interesting point, it's easier to build something simple than something complex. Less mistakes, less difficulty of repair, but none of these new homes make sense to me. If you're living father and father from the city you'd think "more space", yet the houses are built right up against each other. 90 minute drive to the city when there's no traffic.
Its the same with all industries here in australia. Be it builder , plumber, car mechanics , doctors , IT , accountants. Skills level going doing with every year. People jumping around just to get higher salary, noone is interested to become good at what they do but only to chasing money.
Quite odd. We get quite a lot of rain here in Minnesota, yet there is no requirement to have box gutters or rain heads or overflows. Just standard gutters and downspouts.
I did carpentry for 10 years I went to trade school for 4 . The biggest issue is carpentry isn’t licensed . Cowboys go and get a “builders license” with little or no idea and anyone with a few tools and a little bit of knowledge goes in and this bloke is exposing exactly what I’m saying .
You should see what 'trade schools' have turned into now. There might be some good ones but what i've seen so far isn't even a joke. I just took on an apprentice and i'm pretty confident he hasn't learnt a single thing from them after 6 months. It all seems like a massive box-ticking exercise that these companies run to extract government subsidies, just like all the useless CPD point providers who basically hold everyone to ransom so we can keep our licenses. There's so many people now just going through the motions to fulfill some govt. regulation so they can extract money fir themselves from the whole mess.
The more I watch the more I think my caravan has been constructed with more care. At least I was allowed to see it being constructed in its various stages. I watched units being built next door to me and thought I would never buy one of those. Near enough seemed to be good enough. I bought a small house that enables me to do a lot of the maintenance for that I am most grateful.
Probably time for a royal commission for standards within the building industry. I would be looking for directors' guarantees and would gace a clause written into my construction contract: No payments will be certified for payment until all identified construction issues are rectified.
god this is a mess. This could be another cause. As a carpenter i see it all the time. These young blokes driving their beefed up 4wds and their utes, they are all about SPEED. They want to get it done quick they think that's what it's all about BUT as I got older I realise it's about QUALITY take pride in your work, if you have to go to Bunnings to get some galvanised nails, just go take your time and present good quality long lasting work. Because majority of carpenters are young Aussies, different story for your renderers tilers waterproofers painters they are imports with no official qualifications. I don't know just speaking my mind love the videos mate your channel is growing quickly, keep it up
New subscriber and can’t get enough! Curious you have lots of inspections with issues what is the ratio? Is this a reflection of the building industry or is this the state of small builders? And how does it differ on say a large commercial project? I’m in IT but have had several jobs with none compliant data cabling (longer 100m) and it has always been a struggle to get the “right” solution always met with compromises
You need to start requesting manufacturers 25 year warranty on data cabling. They will then be forced to test it which will provide you with hard evidence on the compliance of cabling
Usually independent ones who have years of trust under their belt. My step-father is a builder, he's the guy they call to do repairs on the 1900s government buildings etc., always super busy doing multimillion dollar builds, because people know he's good and doesn't cut corners. In his 60s, probably been in the business close to 50 years.
dont use the main construction companies, always try and use independent and dont sign any hand over until an inspection is done by someone like this bloke.
what's crazy is australians kept buying properties with emotions and they dont sending out building inspectors prior the auction, then they later found out the multiple flaws in the building that is still liveable but now with a mortgage prison
These modern builds are too complex for most builders. We need to go back to basics and build as they did in the 80s, if we have any chance of addressing the housing shortage
Another great video but the first one you have made me nervous. Holding a camera on a steep pitch and close to the edge. I’m sure you’ve done it a thousand times but you got my heart rate up a bit there. Keep on posting please, your work is amazing Ahh sorry. 11 mins in you say you are wearing your harness!! 😂.
Have you ever seen a house get built? Let alone a double story? We walk on the top plates of the frame no harnesses to do the trusses.. the only safe way is to use a crane which 99% of builders won't pay for... so we used to make sure we had income protection and life insurance 🤣
I wonder if you ever had a site or building inspection where you went around and concluded that yep, this one is compliant. Good job. Or there is always at least something wrong?
The spoon drain goes across all units seems bizarre - via various timber walls that it can mould up, then terminates as a pool in someones garage. That's bonkers.
Please be careful brother. There is going to be a lot of people angry that you are exposing them. Keep up the great work!

@@michellemichelle9055 Yes. The concrete slab is a fire-rated structure, and it's fire resistance must be maintained, regardless of spatial use.
@@gribbler1695 thanks, appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
Loving your work. I’m a handyman and fix problems like these every day. It’s not rocket science!
15:59 The way that pipe is positioned with the box overhanging it, would cause water to go directly up against the house🤔Even looks like it was worn away because of it......
New subscriber here... Great work for exposing these dodgy builders... I live in a home built in the late 1960's and although it too has many defects which are non compliant 😂, it's probably much better then these new paper homes that are being built today...
1961 here, so much dodgy. Still, roof does not leak, no mould. Good bones.
@@benjaminzedrine Yep, 1963 and it has its issues but the frame and foundations are solid.
@@zappy7393 Oh my foundations are swimming, but that is as a result of adjacent development.
@@benjaminzedrine Well mine does have uneven floors, different colour mortar around, etc, but it's much better than the newer houses, even if it's cold in winter and hot in summer in my house 😂
@@MartinJones123 Ours is weatherboard, up on stumps, no insulation under floor or in the walls. It's a bit of a struggle to heat efficiently, but even in 40°C Australian summers I can keep it cool largely passively.
Good stuff mate. Always happy to find good quality Aussie creators.
Would love to see a Sydney tour, if you dont get chased out of town 😅. great content
Love your videos Brother 👍 Always worry when you're up on the roof on the edge 🙏
Thank you my friend, I’ve invested in the best harness out there.
When you see the camera go over the edge, it’s my camera pole taking the risk 😅.
Thank you for your kind feedback ❤️🙏
You know this one is bad when you start getting lost for words.
And when you see it is a 20+ minute video.
Just incredible incompetence. With the builder gone bust this is going to cost the VMIA an absolute fortune. How can the RBS not identify any of these serious issues?
non comployyyaaant! great work brudda, expose these dogs
Thank you for your time and dedication to exposing building compliance issues and going the extra mile to educate us with the details such as exactly what codes are in breach and design plans for how things should look. Even how to read and interpret the information at times. I have learned sooo much.
you would think construction insurance companies would send out inspectors to keep the contractors honest.
Extremely interesting watching your videos and informative.. now after watching it's heartbreaking 😢 and i feel so sorry for the owners!!
Congrats on the 20k subs, you deserve much more 👍
Thank you so much ❤️
Mate, I love your work, love your videos, love your attitude. Thank you for your efforts.
"on the rocket clock" wowee that took me back a couple decades ahhaha
😅
Great video, again. Hope you post one for the interior.
I just found your channel, love it, can’t stop watching, already subscribed.👍👍😊
Thanks and welcome
I spoke to your company recently. When I asked if I could book you personally ( i've watched about 20 of your vids and am very impressed) to do an inspection I couldn't really get a straight answer yes or no, or that was my interpretation. Above in your intro you say to book me contact your company. Could you clarify pls? Your'e doing an invaluable service, more power to your channel.
Good question. I'm also wondering this
Due to security reasons we cant disclose who will be coming.
@@Siteinspections Thanks for responding. Understandable lol!
too many dodgy builders out to hurt our honest inspector. damn that really sucks
That air conditioner outlet pipe job is more than likely a British builder as that's how they treat overflow pipes here
This channel needs 100% subscription. Maybe some changes get made.
Brother, you are a legend
I really love your effort
What made you choose this career path? How long did it take you to be as proficient as you are...
Your knowledge is awesome
Great vid, loved that little sound effect! some more sound effects would really emphasise the joke of these trades!
Man, you are brave walking on that heap of crap!
11:02 the sound effects are something else 😂
Phoenixing is endemic in alll East coast states The problem then is who do you sue roofers, tillers chippies, glazers, plumbers, well each will fight in court and each case is a single case the cost would bankrupt the owners.
Are building designers / architects to blame as well? What ever happened to a classic roof and simple gutters with down pipes.
Loving these videos!
Thank you ❤️
12:36 You left your level on the roof bro!
😬😅
It’s never stop while the profits are placed before quality and while the risks to the builders are low
Just wait till you see the metal fabrication trade oh boy its a mess right now
Video after video showing non-compliant box gutters, where are tradies purchasing these non-compliant box gutters from???
Someone if making them in their backyard I guess 😑
The more I watch the more I think my caravan has been constructed with more care. At least I was allowed to see it being constructed in its various stages. I watched units being built next door to me and thought I would never buy one of those. Near enough seemed to be good enough. I bought a small house that enables me to do a lot of the maintenance for that I am most grateful.
Probably time for a royal commission for standards within the building industry.
I would be looking for directors' guarantees and would gace a clause written into my construction contract: No payments will be certified for payment until all identified construction issues are rectified.
Views doubling your subscriber count in 24 hours? Onto a winner here mate, great stuff
god this is a mess. I don't know just speaking my mind love the videos mate your channel is growing quickly, keep it up
guy really just jumped over a building what a man
If you squint hard enough it’s compliant!
Come and inspect new build on the Gold Coast. You would have an absolute field day!!!
Can someone create a whitelist of builders that can be trusted?
Yeah, there should be one for each state and region and a list of decent building inspectors also, this is getting out of hand.
White list of tradies too.
What’s the point, they bankrupt themselves and start a new name, as is the case in this video
Bro im loving your videos
They will have a new TV reno series called, Home Rescue.
Scam your best and liquidate the rest
Love your videos man. Keep up the amazing work.
what's crazy is australians kept buying properties with emotions and they dont sending out building inspectors prior the auction, then they later found out the multiple flaws in the building that is still liveable but now with a mortgage prison
More to things than meets the eye , most are bought by investment companies . . new build , make of that what you will
I noticed the flags when you posted the extracts on screen 😉
These modern builds are too complex for most builders. We need to go back to basics and build as they did in the 80s, if we have any chance of addressing the housing shortage
Another great video but the first one you have made me nervous. Holding a camera on a steep pitch and close to the edge. I’m sure you’ve done it a thousand times but you got my heart rate up a bit there.
Keep on posting please, your work is amazing
Ahh sorry.
These new flat roofs designs are appaling as it is without the shoddy workmanship.
Love your work bro 👍🏻 but can I ask, Where are the certifiers ? How do they let the project even get to completion like this and hand over?
I wonder if you ever had a site or building inspection where you went around and concluded that yep, this one is compliant. Good job. Or there is always at least something wrong?
The spoon drain goes across all units seems bizarre - via various timber walls that it can mould up, then terminates as a pool in someones garage. That's bonkers.
It can’t be old school builders, it must be these new age fools.!!good job documenting people that can’t even build a cubby house 🏠
never ever met an honest builder ever, even independent
