WHAT HAPPENED To Jordan Poole's NBA Career?

  • Jordan Poole has OFFICIALLY replaced Javale McGee as the goofiest player in the NBA… he doesn’t pay attention during timeouts, has ATROCIOUS shot selection, and is really just doing his own thing out there… all. the. time.
    But it didn’t used to be like this. Jordan Poole USED to be a guy that everyone loved in Golden State, with a great work ethic and a bright future ahead of him… and just a few years ago he was celebrating an NBA title and looked like the “3rd splash brother”... so how did we get here? How did Jordan Poole go from an exciting up and coming guard… to the joke of the league?

    IMO: Money & fame are his priorities. Excellence, continuous learning & improvement are a very distant second priority. Plus, if he is a contract player, I really believe he will only excel in the 2025-2026 off season, when his contract extension comes up. It's a pity, but there are so many like him in the NBA past and present.

      @@duyanhng8430 Out of all the players I've seen in the league with this 'approach' to the game, no one disappoints me more than Whiteside.
      He was drafted in 2010 but never played until the 14-15 season. He was barely making 500k.
      Pat was a fool and paid him 100 million in 2016 free agency, and Whiteside was never the same since.
      It makes me sick🤮😭

    Talent will get you far in the NBA, but it's what between the ears that take you to the next level. Right now there is nothing but himself in his head right now. In a team sport, this never helps the team.

  • @Sugarist0

    Reminds me of Wiggins’s early career. Started on a pretty crappy team and improved slowly over his first few years (remember in the chip year there were only a handful of regular season games where Steph dray and Klay were playing tgt). Once the team got all their pieces tgt, started to regress significantly and had drama with the team’s best players. Imo someone has to take the offensive load off of Poole whether he wants it or not, he’s played pretty well as the 2nd/3rd option on that championship team

  • @ray101892

    You can't teach class. Jokic treats basketball like a day job too but he cares about his team more than himself so he plays hard even if it was clear that they would lose in 2021and 2022. He has more money, more hardware and better teammates than Poole but doesn't slack off.

  • @TWDub
    @TWDub 7 месяцев назад +27

    Poole's admission that since he got his bag he and his family are set for life and now he's playing "stress-free" basketball proves he was never a true champion at heart. He was just along for the ride and using his basketball skills to get the kind of money a day job never would. I wouldn't be surprised if he simply disappears from the spotlight, and the league, within the next handful of years. If he has any respect for the game he should retire young and leave his vacancy open for someone who plays the game for the sake of love of the game and a pursuit of excellence.

      If thats true then its disappointing. Up to that point, he was a guy who did whatever it took to get better including spending time in the G-League to learn his game. Never saw a guy work as hard as he did to force himself into the lineup (wish Wiseman had the same drive). Maybe the worst thing Warriors did was give him the bag with so little history of success. I think we see now that the pride of the championship core (which makes them great) means they will never accept when their skills decline and will hold on until they can no longer run .. so any young player on this team will sit on the bench for a long time. He had brashness and confidence and super competitive .. which you need in the NBA. He has just forgotten what got him here.

    I think it's a fallacy that the contract situation was the root cause of why Poole was traded. They paid Poole because they mistakenly believed it would be cheaper to sign the contract then than wait for the chance the deal needed might go higher.
    I believe the far more significant issue is roster construction. Poole played well enough in his role for him to believe that their should be a path for him to have a starting role on the team. But as Long as Klay is on the team that was never going to happen. Additionally Poole's terrible defence was not something the team had ever had to deal with in someone playing such a significant role not named Steph Curry (and now Klay Thompson too... but they refuse to recognise that one still). That 22 squad had just enough defensive chops to stomach Poole's issues through most of the season but it became increasingly difficult in the playoffs especially as his offense became more erratic under that pressure.
    Sadly despite the freedom of getting out from under Stephs shadow in Washington the poor team culture on that squad is doing nothing to develop the discipline and work ethic that Poole once showed.
    Despite his lack of maturity on the Wizards Poole is far from the cause of the many issues in Golden State.

    • @ColdHoops
      @ColdHoops 6 месяцев назад

      There were issues with him for sure.
      But personally, I don't see how everyone can't point the finger at a guy that played all 82 regular season games last year... unless he was the franchise player 🤷‍♂️

    Teams are defensively planning to do the main point of attack and he plays a little to careless with his handles and passing when getting double teamed. I think he'll learn it's been 17 games, he's on an atrocious team so the spacing is bad and teams focus on Poole and Kuzma.... This is a year for him to either turn s corner and show he can be a top option as the season goes in and he improves or he can continue doing the same thing and show he's a glorified role player that will never have the confidence he had as a warrior.

    You made a whole video on a player you clearly never watched play. Poole couldn’t play in the playoffs because of his turnovers and team worst defense. He got paid because he got better yet over year due to his incredible work ethic. He then lost his mind (just like Klay) and played himself off the team.
