Still an operational site. Albeit struggling some old equipment/plant is being scrapped but last thing we need is an influx off people wandering around.
It’s not derelict, parts getting demolished but it is 100% still open! It’s not closed down. Hopefully it will be fully operational again in the new year. Maybe research before you go trespassing and making a mockery of an industry struggling!!
All site is still fully operational, like a lot of people have mentioned. You want to be careful what you're playing with accidents happen and there's lots of dangerous stuff on site.
Great to have a look around the steel works reminds me of when I worked in a foundry the cranes would carry the molten iron to fill the casts it would be hoisted down to a man on the ground who would turn a wheel on the container to pour it in and the process would be gradually repeated along the line.
They still produce steel there not much but for aerospace market last time they made steel was July 2024 it’s definitely not closed down as of yet anyway. Good video though 👍🏼
@@abandoneduk4640it’s not closing as someone who works for a contractors on site we still put scaffolding up in there to repair a lot of the stuff place just looks like it’s closing
Them pits were for reheating ingots you saw the ingots moulds across from the pits they were called soaking pits it’s where the ingots reheat before being rolled into blooms and billets.
Absolutely criminal that this was allowed to go to rack an ruin. That crane you got working was the 60 tonne, which I used to drive daily. As mentioned, the pits you were over were the "soakers" and were for heating up ingots and blooms prior to rolling. Near the end, the metal cubes are moulds for making huge concrete "Lego bricks", at one point the only profitable part of the mill .....
@@tufty1235 Canteen . . . . . That tripe was dogshit. I remember when we were offered a free breakfast at the canteen if we broke 20000 tonnes in a week. No thanks, keep it under 20k lads :)

Site isn’t abandoned, although some of it is being demolished. Staff are on furlough, just roll when they’re needed.
Did you fill out a 4what's?

That area is still in operation, its just really old and you'll hurt yourselves going in places you know nothing about
@@AdamBell-b3c it’s getting demolished most of it we have been back since it’s completely changed within a few weeks
@abandoneduk4640 the area with the crane and pits isn't. The rest of it has been a demolition project since about 2013.
